  1. First off I was gettin pizt because I didn't think this thread was gonna get to 100 replys. If it wasn't for Hrothgar this thread would be buried on pg 10 somewhere so stop beatin up on my boi . Besides how can I not laugh when someone's all time most hated show is the one I'm most proud of? I do have one problem with ur opininon H-gar ................... "........Insipid" ?????????????? Doesn't that mean lacking in character? Come on Bro, We had the most characters on the feild last year.
  2. LOL.......... LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! Brazale was one of a kind on and off the field. And Johnny Sanchez is one of my Bois. Taught him in cadets. Then he was on the tech staff. He also went to Star with Paul Pennaciero(sp?) and Eric Sabach in 85. Not to mention his time with Phantom, Blue Devils and Bluecoats, Bob Smith is one of my heros!!!!!!!! No doubt one of the greatest cleaners in the history of DC. As for the "Snake in the Box", I did a version of it in 89 with Cadets but the first use of it was 84 Dutchboy. Funny how something old can be new again. Gotta shout out to Tommy Kenum for 87 sky too. He was the man with the plan for quite a few "GREAT" concepts.
  3. Freelancers - 85 Suncoast - consulted a couple then wrote the drill in 88 Bush - I forget all senior coprs dates,,,,,,,, ; >)

  6. Appreciated ..... Both teams bring back great memories. Funny, lots of people have been reminding me of the 87 Ryders lately. Noticed U marched with The Regiment back in the day. So here's back at you for being part of some major drumcorps SWEETNESS! Your Brazale quote brought a smile yo my face. He is a classic. Ps could the Bob refered to in the quote be Bob Smith?
  7. Al U mad man U. I haven't seen Tommy in a while. Probably haunting some bar in JP. (for U non-Bostonians that is a very reputable :mmm: section of Boston.) Bro I think we need to hook up in the city and catch up before we head on down to that big ole state of Texas!

I do remember the party at the McB's and the drum set rising that night, but alas that's it for me 2. I also remember the elbow at CYO but unfortunately it was 20 yrs earlier .....try 1977.
  14. Hey Scopa .......I dunno about humble but it was weird seeing my name heading a post. Although i was hoping it would be a little more xciting here. All gooey happy s*^%. Was hoping to hear from a few angry "Pink Bench/voiceover/Rabbit costume" dudes and dudettes to spice this place up. I know I have that "Mountaineer" Pic somewhere. Probably in an un opened box from the last couple times I moved. I'll look and if I find it I'll send you a copy. As for the party ........... the last time you invited me to a "little party" I woke up in John Maoro's Bocce court 2 days later Keep me posted though, ya never know luv2u2 ducky
  15. He is a true and original "mountaineer"! SCOPPA!!!!!!!!!!! how is my little ducky!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all the nice words. Luvforeva for the record (for all u history buffs) I wrote for cadets from 89 - 94 and 2002 Jeff Sacktig wrote from 95 - 2001 and 2003 to present. That would mean he will be going into his 12th year as a the Man for the Cadets!!!!!!!!!!! SWEET One more after this and he ties me and Zingali added together. also me and Zingy went to Star their first 2 years 85-86. Shout out to Jimmy Hicky my MELLO BRUTHA. Didn't know you were the Stewie guy from the the Mass historical thread. I shoulda known!!!!!!!!!!!! HaGAR I had no idea you were LancerLegend ......... for some reason I thought that was Ann Fields!!!!!!!! My favorite memory of you was when you ripped of your uniform to show Rale Royer your 27 shaved on your hairy back. Now for Tiny. Been too long bro. we gotta get toghther. By the way I do remember the Bocce court. Pretty sure it was part of the "MAGIC KINGDOM" though. Marc Sylvester
  17. Actually I think Key Poulen ........... (YUP the dude who writes for SCV) bought the door and the mirror for his at home Drum Corps museum. PS CapRegVet send me a pic of you and I'll try to photoshop U with the door. sully
  18. Hey all you drumcorps nuts!!!!!!!!!!!! Just read through the whole thread. First off I have to say I couldn't be happier that you guys are still talking about the Zone. Coolness of the highest level. I did respond to some of these topics last summer. Although I do check out DCP from time to time I don't feel like us instructor GEEKS should use this forum as a place to pontificate our cause. It's for you all to come on and ##### and talk and have a good time. Since I'm here I will say a few things .... hope it doesn't sound like I'm running for President when I'm done. Integration. This is a good one. It's been a hot topic on the inside for years. First off let me say IMHO (in my humble opinion) Jeff Sactig took a huge risk in the way he staged the Cadets guard this year because he didn't try to keep them with in the brass design all the time. That is one of the things it seemed judges were responding strongly to over the past few years in CG and Vis Ensemble. I would never have been that brave to fight the system. But Jeff is my boy and I'll stand by his choices as long as long as I have the privilege to work with him. I do think that integration has more to do with the Concept of the show than the style of Staging. The Brass, Drums and Guard should always be integrated into the show concept. The staging is just the way you present the idea. Innovation/Creative/Whatever......... LOL ........ I have no idea here. It is what it is. I do think that every idea is linked to something else. Many people think that Bill Gates is one of the most innovative people on the planet because of the development of Windows. But he actually got the idea from Steve Jobs at Apple who is also considered to be a creative innovator. Jobs got the idea of the use of icons as the basis of communicating to a computer from Xerox who felt the idea was not worth further development, So now to todays hot topic. Yes, many ideas that were generated from my work with Mona Shore HS inspired the development of the Cadets ZONE show. Were they the same show? No Not at all. Did they both have doors? Yup. So did Beyers HS winter guard from California. As to the the use of ideas from band to drumcorps to winter guard. We all do it. Many of the drill ideas I did with Cadets back in the day were started with things I was working on with bands and vice versa. Weather that makes something innovative or creative is for someone else to say. Keep on posting!!!!!! Weather you know it or not I listen to fans here and at the shows all the time. If you ever see me at a show come talk. I love to hear from the people who pay for the tickets and buy the DVDs drumcorpsforevermarcsylvester
