  1. I don't think there are more than a handful of people in all of Drumcorps who have actually studied anything in the visual arts including judges and designers. As for Boo..... I love everything about him including his wacky wit and I always find his writing entertaining!
  2. This is the original version the piece was based on but it was rearranged by sound engineer Tony Nunez and re recorded with his sister singing the vocals .......... the original version did not sit well going into the Holst material arranged by Jay because of the key.
  3. Dude I'll wear suspenders, a belt, and a Ghandi tee shirt if people will clap for it.
  4. True that ......... I guess we could always sell belts at the souvie booth.
  5. Actually the music we discussed is not the final decision so............... if anyone has suggestions I'm all ears. Parameters are: Great closer material Perfect pacing after Nimrod Great material for battery as well as brass. Romantic Not English or French composer. Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Common!!!!!!!!! Please don't close this thread. When's the last time a BK thread generated this many posts? The point of this thread is to get people to check out a video posted by a drum corps. All content within that videos is fair game. I did think people would be interested in checking out the process dc's use to come up with their shows. But if a tee shirt gets people to check out the vid and creates interest in that drum corps I say let them speak. People gotta #####!!!!!!!! Sully
  7. I got tons of good stories from the Olympics. First off there's 150 performers. Add staff, admin, volunteers it comes to a good 200 people. Make it 210 for the math. We go up on 3 busses so that's 70 per bus. A little crowded but that's ok cause none of the buses have heat and it's below zero outside. Alright so everyone knows how the Lacers were famous for the fleet of touring coaches we travelled cross country on right?.............. On the way up (maybe a 10 hr ride Boston to L Placid?) one of the buses looses electricity. No Interior lights. No Head lights. No rear lights. No Brake lights ..... nada. What do we do????? Put the bus with no lights in between the 2 buses with lights and dead head on in.
  8. My dear, dear Sara. I am all for public humility, but ........ The reason Star made finals their first year with 128 people who had never never marched together before was not primarily because of the famous George Zingali or Dennis DeLucia. Not Jim Mason or Bill Cook. It had a lot to do with the in house day to day tech staff but .......... It was first and foremost because of the effort of a bunch of honest and hard working "bando's. So stand tall girl and be proud. You and all those original members of Star were the beginning of a brilliant stretch of drum corps history. And you earned that 1st year success. sully
  9. Ya, Hymie has to be the funniest Drum corps person I've ever known !!!!!!!!
  10. Ya I don't remember refering to the platform til a few years later. The tech back then was get up on your toes, str8t legs, lead from the center of your back and GOOOOOO. The wash my feet story is probably the one I'm most reminded of. I remember beiing pized off about you guys not having the charts to a change Zingali made right before we left for tour. Although I may have been a bit tough at times .... : > ) there were a couple things that made me lose my mind. One of those was bad dot books/big charts. I think Eric had some eye disease where he couldn't be in the sun without sunglasses ...... or so he said.
  11. The only part of this I remember is you getting yelled at.
  12. LOL ....... Dude you need to loosen your ear amps!!!!!!!! ..... : > )
