  1. I have the same or similar recording....such a great song :P :P
  2. vote and then discuss!! :) Personally I love the age out ceremony and the anticipation of scores...but all of those are great feelings about drum corps
  3. I do apologize, my wording can sometimes make the meaning a little skewed. The comment on not living up to their name had no correlation to the fact that they all performed their hearts out, and have lived up to the history of the corps. What I meant was that it didn't give me any spirit, in that I wasn't excited after watching their performance. I do admit my mistake in this (which is hard to do sometimes :) ) I apologize for any hurt feelings
  4. I felt that Spirit didn't live up to the corps name. For that matter, I was rather bored with the show, even though they did have a good musical selection, and had a loud sound. Personally, I wasn't all that impressed, Colts should have had the 12th spot :) Now for Glassmen, I usually HATE classic classical music on the field (Dvorak, Mahler, etc), but this show was one of Glassmens best. I found it aesthetically appeasing, with some laughter during the waltz, some wow moments with the silent guard, and the cool way they warmed up. I do wish, however, they would learn to clean better, because this show definitely could have placed higher then what they did at finals.
  5. I really enjoyed everyone up through Southwind personally.....all the shows had some great moments that got me to my feet at the end.
  6. I agree with the argument that the scores were inflated quite heavily this year, and finals seemed to be right. The shows were great, but I don't think they were performed at the level of earning 98s and 99s. A lot of drops, messy percussion, unclean lines, etc were noticed from every corps. So to answer the question, I think the judges had it about right, I personally would have scored lower but thats just me. :) :P
  7. aside from all this I would like to comment on how classy The Academy is. Drum corps is more than about competing against other corps, it is to support the other corps. While I was watching the Spartans and The Academy brass line warm up before their respective finals performances, I witnessed the greatest thing that could possibly happen in drum corps. While The Academy was warming up, the Spartans began to march by them to go toward Camp Randall all of a sudden The Academy stopped what they were doing and began cheering for them, congratulating them. Let me tell you my reaction to this was far greater than the effect of any drum corps show could have on me. I began tearing up and got goosebumps. I feel that this is what drum corps is about. supporting the camaraderie everyone shares is one of the most important parts of this activity. Congratulations on a job well done Academy, and best of luck in 2007.

  20. Yeah, those were all pretty much in the back of my head. I was planning on interviewing anyone who would like to get interviewed. Also, if you know of any corps members that are from Michigan, I would love to highlight their experience as well. You can PM me names/Corps if you wish. Anyone who would like a copy of the segment is more than welcome to it, just let me know. Keep on postin your thoughts!! :)
  21. Hey Everyone, I will be in Madison on Friday and Saturday, along with 15,000+ other fans, and will be recording interviews both days for WIDR FM in Kalamazoo Michigan. I was wondering what questions you all think would benefit people who don't know what drum corps is, and how to highlight the drum corps activity. I have a few questions in mind, but would like to get all of your input also.
