  15. This weekend, I was extremely fortunate to celebrate with Carolina Gold. Over the course of the three days, I personally enjoyed meeting many people who wished the corps well, complimented the corps on their performances and congratulated us on our accomplishment. Sometimes being a souvie person has it's perks. Personal shout outs: Kelly from Corps Vets--thanks for all the souvie tips, great conversations, and being there for those important breaks. You are awesome! Empire Statesmen Souvie table--your warm greetings and strong muscles Saturday morning were definately appreciated. Oh, I'm having someone check on the blue container rules. Gulf Coast Sound--great hanging with you on souvie row, best of luck with your Mardi Gras fundraiser---Thank you loaning us your Honor Guard for our finals performance. Fritz from Governaires and Bushwackers souvies--nice to meet and hang with you guys Minnesota Brass souvie ladies enjoyed chatting with you while you browsed. Rochester Crusaders hope your goal of having lighter containers for the trip home was accomplished. To all other souvie folks at DCA many of whom I didn't get to talk with plan to catch up with you next season. Judy Carolina Gold Souvies

  18. We are heading to individuals on Wednesday, Div 2&3 on Thursday, Prelims on Friday, and Finals on Saturday. Plan on watching all corps. It's our kids first experience with DCI Championships, they are psyched and excited to catch all the events.
  19. In the north as well as the south, kids head back to college in late August. What you don't realize is that in the south, high school kids also head back to school in August (in NC school legally starts on August 25). SO, Southern Corps who have any students, will have those students missing school because of the 14 plus hour bus ride to a northern location. Missing school is a non-issue, many also miss school, when they march in WGI, and for that matter many Div I DCI corps start mandatory camp prior to the end of school. Now changing the date could be discussed, but then Championships would be like any other competition weekend---practice, perform and leave. Labor Day weekend, because of it being a long weekend gives many corps the option of hangin out longer before heading home.
  20. Crowd was spread out, large stadium. Guess of attendance close to 2000 maybe more. Crowd reaction was great! Lots of standing O's. Performing corps were able to sit amongst the paying patrons and the reaction was even louder. Great show. Friday night LMS was awesome too! Renegades coordinated a great evening!
