We've been working on that for months. Have our executive director Dwayne Barnes and corps director Dana Harmon back for 2008. Announcements about open houses, etc should be made soon. Thanks for the encouragement. Judy

We have had the same service for many years, always able to read each post, now I can read each post and have a "tree" list on the bottom of the page stating who responded, first sentence typed, date and time. Not an AOL customer.

This is EXACTLY what has been happening to me. I've always had the posts listed..full text,,,this week, I am getting the "tree" version you described. I can get the first few messages, then when I try to go onto the next page and click onto another post, I receive the same error message as you have been getting. Very limited with my computer knowledge, I've asked my kids, and they responded, the newsgroup has created a new page set up, which could be true, just wish I could figure out how to access all responses. Needing any kind of help in NC.

Hi, I read this post on the DCP historical section and responsed that I too have had this problem this week with the new format. Thought I would post here so someone can help/guide some of us through these current changes. Thanks OK, I've tried for several days to click on recent posts with the new format (folder tree if you will) and keep getting a "Sorry Error Message". This am I went into the 1972 thread and clicked on posts from yesterday and again I get the same error message. I'm logged in as always but still have this problem. I did e-mail the admin for DCP or their support staff, but have not heard back. Maybe everyone's up in Rochester. Jami? Anyone else having this problem, or know what's up with the new format? And, while writing this, I realize I probably will not be able to click on and read any replys to my post. Oh well.................. Here's a copy/paste of the error message: Board Message Sorry, an error occurred. Sorry for taking this thread into another discussion. We were told that the insurance was through the Boy Scouts and that was their requirement. As he auditioned in the fall of 06 and was only 14 and his 15th birthday was mid-summer. He is a percussionist, I know little about how to determine talented percussionist...it all sounds the same to me even after all the years I have been involved in drum corps. We have been told our son is talented by numerous drum instructors. so we are sure he will be awarded a spot and we will be following his performances for many summers. The intention of my initial comment was to say that our son has drum corps in his blood...you know it when you have it!

Found out through some friends that are involved with these two corps, that it was basically an insurance issue. Seems the policies required that members needed to be 16 and up. Think the long distance travel to CA also had something to do with the decision. He is more determined than ever. With the summer off from drum corps, he attended Leigh Howard Stephens clinic in Texas to sharpen his marimba skills. Looking forward to watching him perform on the field next summer.

Our family involvement in drum corps, goes back three generations. My dad marched with Post 19 in Bayonne, back in the late 40's My brothers and myself marched in the Saints in the mid 70's In the late 70's one of my brothers and myself marched in the Garfield Cadets My husband and I met while marching in the Garfield Cadets During the 2005 season my husband played soprano, our then 17 year old daughter performed with the guard, our then 13 year old son performed in the front ensemble of Carolina Gold At the 2005 Prelims in Scranton, our youngest child who was then 11 marched in Gold's honor guard. I was on the BOD for Gold. After the performance we took a photo of the five of us. The kids continued to march during the 2006 season. I was the corps business manager and member of the board (still on the board). In 2007, my son auditioned for two DCI corps....and was told he was too young to become a member (he turned 15 this summer) Quite ironic considering he marched with an all age for two years. He plans on heading back for 08 auditions, one year older and hopefully more acceptable in DCI. He missed marched immensely this summer....he is our one child that truly has drum corps in his blood.

Forward into....2008 The Carolina Gold Board of Directors is pleased and excited to announce the appointment of Dwayne Barnes as the Carolina Gold Organizations 2008 Executive Director. Mr. Barnes has been a member of Gold since 2002 and held the Executive Director position for the competitive corps during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. He was part of the administrative team that led Gold to their first DCA Finalist position in 2005. Dwayne has vast experience in the musical arts activity. He spent 11 summers marching junior corps, he’s been a marching and visual instructor in Wake County, NC for over 15 years and has been the director of Carolina Visual Productions (CVP) winter guard for the past 20 years. Over the past several months, the Carolina Gold Board of Directors has been implementing changes to make the corps infrastructure stronger. Gold Rush, Carolina Gold’s mini corps has a successful administrative team in place with alumnus Bob Glover, Blaine Britt and Brenda Gifford. With the 2007 season taking shape and in capable hands, the board is now focused on what is needed to move the entire organization forward into 2008. Expect to hear more exciting news from the Carolina Gold Organization in the next few weeks as the “Return to Gold” campaign gets underway!

Hi Benzoate, Pheud and others..... Carolina Gold is still active in 2007...just not fielding a corps in DCA competition. For many who have stated that a competitive corps schedule takes up too much time...this is the PERFECT year to become a member or return to Gold. Gold rehearses once a month, which is much less time than the field corps rehearsal schedule. Some items on Gold's 07 schedule...marching in four July 4th parades in Maryland, performances at local events, perform at a DCI contest and compete as a mini-corps at DCA's in Rochester. Carolina Gold is heading to the Raleigh St. Patrick's Day Parade which kicks off at Noon. Weather...mid to upper 40's ...little chilly considering it was 80 degrees on Thursday. Gold will then be playing a standstill concert to welcome the entrance of the Green Beret Parachute Team. Carolina Gold marched 86 members last summer. With a 135 limit, not sure if that would be considered small, probably medium sized. Here is the breakdown: 12 Sopranos, 8 Mellophones, 11 Bar/Euphs, 7 Contra 7 snares, 4 tenors, 5 basses, 6 front ensemble 20 guard, 3 drum majors, 3 honor guard
