  1. Spot on Michael, I was thinking the same thing. Drum corps is a pretty small activity where, generally speaking, everyone really does know everyone on a staff level.
  2. Seeing the above got me thinking about the importance of having background checks done on adults that are working with youth. Not only for the whole Accent deal, but for ANY reputable organization that is working with youth. Parents make sure to ask if background checks have been done on all staff involved.
  3. 5. Is there an age limit (saw a reference to that in another thread)? 5a. If so, why? DCA is an ALL-age activity.
  4. An age limit in DCA? Why? Is that even allowed? That seems counter-productive to the whole DCA experience to me. Although, I am from the Midwest and spend lots of time with old drum corps geeks from the Govies, Chops, MBI, and the Kilties. Well, whatever. If that model is appealing to some, then go do it, if not, don't.
  5. Out of 80+ corps, I could only pick 12 for a finals. I went with inactive corps that I marched against at some point, although I remember being in some shows with the Sundowners, Pioneer, and a whole lot of others no longer around :-(

  7. Have a great camp this weekend Govies! Note to all drum corps type people. Yes, I mean you! This is a corps that you want to be a part of at least once in your life!
  8. I predict that everyone will feel that someone is "dissing" their favorite corps at some point during the season. In fact, mark it in stone.
  9. The Scouts still have positions available. I'm not sure which ones. Here is some contact info. Madison Scouts

As for the feeling that some comments from an individual have be interpreted to be off the mark on the past, well today is a new day and an opportunity to assess everyone's comments moving forward. Looking forward will get us places, looking backward won't.
  11. Just another judging system I don't understand, so I'm cool with it.
  12. OK Brothers, let’s not get so thin skinned. When someone comes in a thread like this, and wishes the Scouts good luck, let’s thank them instead of kicking them in the nuts. It's a whole new year. GUARDLING. Thanks for wishing the Scouts well, this Scout appreciates it.
  13. Men of Madison, have a great camp this weekend. MYNWA!
  14. Camp this weekend. I am looking forward to some updates. Go Scouts!
  15. Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner.
  16. Hell, I was coming here to do that! Good job Mike!!! Oh, and GO SCOUTS!
  17. I am interested in getting a meet-up together for the DCI Quarters show tomorrow. I am thinking the AMC theaters at Rosedale as that is pretty centrally located. Conveniently, it is also located next to the Granite City Brew Pub for pre-event festivities at around 4 PM or so. Anyone interested?
