  1. In Cadets 1987, what does the soloist play at the end? Is it the same melody or what? The crowd is to loud to hear what he is playing. Thanks!
  2. It's cool if you defend your corps, but don't do it like that. ^
  3. It looks easy to me because it is easy. There really was not much bigger steps than like an 8 to 5 ( what I saw ) but ECJ performed the heck out of it, which made it look even easier. And again, the only people who are saying it's hard, are the people in the corps. Mabye that's because they marched it, and it's a whole different world when you march it, but it still looks easy to me regardless of what anyone says. And like funkrocker was saying, If you took all the Div. 2 corps and put them in place by difficulty, ECJ would be near 4-6 ( my opinion of course ). Peace.
  4. Anything I say is not meant to disrespect anyonre or any corps, but I find it odd that the majority of people who defend ECJ, are the members. I saw the show, and it was a very good show, they performed it very well. But, it didn't seem difficult. Of course, I wasn't out there marching the show, but I didn't see much more than an 8 to 5 except for that last big move thing ( which was really cool ). In D1 , it seems like a lot of how the places come out is based on show design and difficulty. ECJ got points for show design, but no points for difficulty in my book. I felt that some of the lower corps in D2 had harder all around shows then some of the top corps in D2. But I'm not a judge so I don't really know how all that crap works. If ECJ's 2005 show was put in D1, I think they would beat a lot of corps, but not make semi's. The lower D1 corps are doing harder stuff, and performing it pretty darn good. But I don't know anything, I'm just putting in my 2 cents. Peace.
  5. Hey Connor, I am also 14 right now, but I am not turning 15 until March. My parents ( mom in particular ) weren't so hyped up about me joing drum corps when I first started. You need to show them that you love what you're doing, and show them that it's what you want to do. I came back from my first camp and told my mom how much I loved it, and showed her a video. She loved that I was in drum corps after I told her it's what I wanted to do. I would also suggest, if you have any freinds that are in drum corps, get your mom to talk to them. For me, it was my brothers. 2 out of 3 of them march. They really convinced my mom to let me join because they have been doing it for a long time and they know what it's about. Last thing, if your band director knows anything about drum corps, and he thinks your ready, then have a meeting or something. My dad ( who is also my band director ) really helped also in convincing my mom, well because he's a band director, and he loves to see kids do music outside of school. Just do whatever it takes if you want it enough and your parents will notice that you want to do drum corps. I hope all this stuff actually helps you, or it's all probably already been said. I know how you feel, and where you are, so I'm just trying to help. Good luck dude. -DCP-er
  6. I had tickets, but I wasn't sitting there the previous night, and some staff dude was like you weren't sitting there last night so you have to leave. He said he was going to get security if we didn't leave, so I was like whatever.
  7. I definetly stayed this year because I got kicked out of my club seats for no reason. I was forced to sit in the middle of nowhere for basically all of finals. I got back into my club seats for the retreat. yay.
  8. You're stupid. You don't say stuff like that.
  9. It will be pretty interesting to see how the scores come out for the corps that haven't performed in awhile. Very tight race, eh?
  10. 1. Cadets 2. Cavaliers 3. Blue Devils 4. Bluecoats 5. Madison 6. Phantom 7. Carolina Crown 8. Boston Crusaders 9. Santa Clara Vanguard 10. Blue Knights 11. Glassmen 12. Crossmen
  11. With all the interesting scores and talk going on, I decided to make an "educated" guess by the "numbers". What this means is I took the average of differences of the first score of the season, and the last, for the past three years. I only included the corps that will be going to finals this year. The first number you see under the corps name is the first score of the season, the second number is the last score of the season, the third number is what they placed at finals, and the last number is the difference between the first two scores. I then added the difference to the first score for the corps this year. 2004 Spartans *70.6 *96.55 *1st *25.95 East Coast Jazz *68.25 *96.525 *2nd *28.275 Fever *56. 6 *92.475 *4th *35.875 Blue Stars *55.1 *91.5 *5th *36.4 Impulse *61.65 *89.050 *6th * 27.4 Jersey Surf *65.6 *85.875 *8th *20.275 Memphis Sound *51.35 *84.5 *9th *33.15 Oregon Crusaders *59.6 *87.425 *1st (Div 3) *27.825 Teal Sound *58.8 *84.2 *3rd (Div. 3) *25.4 2003 Spartans *69.95 *94.45 *3rd *24.5 East Coast Jazz *66.65 *91.8 *4th *25.15 Jersey Surf *57.25 *89.9 *5th *32.65 Blue Stars *47.0 *88.6 *6th *41.6 Impulse *56.2 *84.8 *10th *28.6 2002 Spartans *73.3 *93.9 *5th *20.6 East Coast Jazz *68.6 *88.0 *8th *19.4 Jersey Surf *62.55 *87.75 *9th *25.2 Average differences from first score to finals Blue Stars ( 2 years ) *39.0 Fever ( 1 year ) *35.875 Memphis Sound ( 1 year ) *33.15 Impulse ( 2 years ) *28.0 Oregon Crusaders ( 1 year ) *27.825 Jersey Surf ( 3 years ) *26.04 Teal Sound ( 1 year ) *25.4 East Coast Jazz ( 3 years ) *24.275 Spartans ( 3 years ) *23.68 2005 Predictions by the "numbers" Spartans *72.85 *96.53 *1st East Coast Jazz *71.8 *96.075 *2nd Jersey Surf *68.95 *94.99 *3rd Fever *58.85 *94.725 *4th Blue Stars *53.95 *92.95 *5th Impulse 6 *3.2 *91.2 *6th Oregon Crusaders *58.45 *86.275 *7th Memphis Sound *50.4 *83.55 *8th Teal Sound *55.075 *80.475 *9th The predictions seem pretty right to me, although I think there will be a few shake-ups in the top. Interesting notes: -In the last three years, 2002 was the only year that TheSpartans have widened the lead on East Coast Jazz from the first score to the last score. ( ex: In 2002, Spartans first score was ahead of East Coast first score by 4.7 ; at the end, Spartans were up by 5.9 ). East Coast has now developed a reputation for pulling close. -With the exception of 2004, Jersey Surf has closed the gap on East Coast Jazz and The Spartans from the first score to the last score. ( ex 1 : In 2002, Spartans first score was higher than Jersey Surf's first score by 10.75, and East Coasts was higher by 6.05 ; at the end of the season, The Spartans were ahead of Jersey Surf by 6.15 and East Coast was ahead by .25 / ex 2 : In 2003, The Spartans first score was ahead of Jersey Surfs first score by 12.7 and East Coasts was ahead by 9.4 ; at the end of the season, The Spartans were up by 4.55 and the East Coast Jazz was up by 1.9 ) Now with those "interesting" facts out on the board, will Spartans fall to East Coast of Jersey Surf? Or will another corps ruin all this work I have done. I don't know, but there is one more thing to consider. If East Coast Jazz and Jersey Surf can be known to pull up on corps, will they make a move since East Coast started out a little more than a point behind The Spartans , and Jersey Surf started out a little less than 4 points behind. Just look at the facts above once more and think about it. Could it be?
