  1. I think it is extremely selfish that people threaten to leave DCI or refuse to support DCI if woodwinds are allowed. Yeah, people may not want them, but if it happens it happens- no use fighting over something that doesnt include your vote I feel that if a woodwind can come in and play and march better than a brass player, take the woodwind. It's not taking away a brass player, its adding somone who is a better performer. i think the real problem here is the bandettes- BAND! that's what we should try to change
  2. all really cool songs, but i was looking for more corps songs...like the ones they sing together before/after shows like autumn leaves you'll never walk alone, RCM...etc
  3. whaaa??? I can see where this might lead someone, Dear Cadets, Please take away the THE infront of your name, you may have won and all, but you are going down hill Ditto for you cavies apparently scores and finals only work when it makes someone right I for one like the change...now I can finally rest easy that no one will ever confuse The Magic with the basketball team......now if i can only keep maderins and the fruit oranges seperate.....gonna be tuff
  4. i did some searching online and found some stuff 444 is represented as a sympbol for angels and as a vice for them to communicate with humans- (like something happening at 4:44 or seeing the numbers and experiencing a sign of some sort etc....) however some allso believe that 444 is a symbol for lower force demons and should not be dabled with (one guy on his site said he recieved message from them saying things like evil and hebrew words that translated into some bad omens for the future..like a 9 year war where the mesiah will come down from..hmmm IRaq???? lol) sounds like white noise to me, so i dont really believe that part of it here is the coolest one i think ( a bit odd, but interesting) Why is it that almost all countries of the world teach their children English in their public school systems? The reason is simple and obvious, God has ordained English for this purpose, this generation and for the uncovering of the Revelation 13 calculation prophecy. So do not receive the error of these prophecy teachers who say it cannot be determined by the English. They are completely wrong and have nothing else to offer you that will pass the scientific method as the English gematria codes will. The math speaks for itself and cannot be denyed by any serious student of prophecy. Also you will not find any of these match total patterns in the Koine Greek, or the Hebrew. The A=6 B=12 C=18 alphabet shown below was not picked randomly. It was selected out of 443,556 scientific alphabet possibilities that exist in the English language for calculating 666 possibilities. There are no more and there are no less. The alphabet below is a progression of six alphabet beginning at six. A=6, this is the starting value, now lets add 6 more 6 + 6 = 12, this determines the value of the next letter which is B. B=12 12+6 = 18 which determines the value of C. and so forth C=18+6=24 D=24+6=30 E=30 In other words: 6,12,18,24,30,36 and so on. A=6 B=12 C=18 D=24 E=30 F=36 G=42 H=48 I=54 J=60 K=66 L=72 M=78 N=84 O=90 P=96 Q=102 R=108 S=114 T=120 U=126 V=132 W =138 X=144 Y=150 Z=156 The name Jesus by this alphabet key has a total value of 444. How do we know? Simple addition of course using the alphabet key above. Lets check it to make sure, look at the alphabet above and find the value of J. The value of J is 60, alright what is the value of E? The value of E=30, now find the values of the other letters in Jesus' name. Then add them up to find the total. The point is this: the only word that calculated to 444 in the above group was the name Jesus. Now to clarify the point I wish all to understand we must first do a little more addition. Using the same alphabet key find the total values of the words: Gospel, Cross, Messiah, Jewish Yep, they are all 444. Alright now what are the odds of these five words Jesus, Gospel, Cross, Messiah and the word Jewish having the same total 444 value using only one numeric alphabet key? What are the odds of the match values of the word groups shown on the calculator page? here is the link if you want to read it all: http://www.geocities.com/iamthekey_2000/simple.html I actually thought it was a boring ending when i saw it and didnt get it...now it makes more sense and really works nicely....i think crown should have made sure the judges knew this too...good job Crown design team for incorperating this into the show!
  5. I think a really great chart would be Chorale VI Sol Fa- I think Crown toyed with using it before dumping it early in the season I would LOVE for Phantom to do Bernsteins Mass in 06...I think they could really take it far even though it has been done already As for Surf, I was really hoping that they would shock everyone and come out with something totally unexpected like Firebird......something back to reinCARMENation or even the Mays and Metheny show..... back in 02 thought it was cute, now I am just like again?? but this year did take a step forward...to each his own hopefuly its not the music from the recent moulon rouge...with like a kit during lady marmalde from them
  6. that is a really good idea maybe have each corps do the age out vid themselves and send it in to dci...that way there will be ample time to edit and make a great memory...dci could even give each age out a copy great idea...you should e-mail it to dci
  7. What does everone think the best corps song is?? even though i dont partivullary care for them, my vote would have to go for madison and you'll never walk alone they lyrics really seem to sum up what being in a corps is...the essence of it all- awesome corps song whats your favorite?
  8. just wondering on this I had a friend say it meant nothing, and a friend comfermed that it did He signs his xanga now with 444 after coming off of tour mt couriosity is peaked...whats the deal with 444?!?!?!?!
  9. so here is a question for yall........ have you ever performed in a corps that was doing a show you absolutley hated? why did you join/stick with the show and did you return the next year all in all did you look back on it differently or did everyone else know it was a bomb discuss
  10. maybe in a "sorry we cant give you the title even though we want to but here is a disney one instead" type of an award anyone knoe who got it for div II?
  11. but if grand finals reserves the right for 1 champion in div II and III......i dont understand the need for a combined night so if i am right, it boils down to..... you have a div II champion on sat you have a div II champion on sat you have 1 big div II/III champion on sunday? has there ever been an instance when the div III champions came anywhere close to being crowned grand champion????? it seems illogical, if dci feels the nedd to seperate them due to size to create a more level playing field for the corps to compete in, why throw out these rules for a contest that sets them up against what dci tried to prevent? Why not throw everyone into quarterfinals and call it the same thing? i have an inkling that say Raiders came and shook things up, coming in top 3 for grand finals, that would be the end of that (a la Magic coming in 12 in 02 from div II)
  12. Don't overlook Capital Regiment While they may not break into the top 5,6,7 anytime soon, they have been unsurpassed by consistantly getting better each year...even in this harder year they stayed around the same area as last year i think they have the capabilities to make finals either this or next year Carolina Crown imo will be where Blue is in a couple of years...they are on the right track and i still cant get over their horn (esp. mello) sound i think they can easily slip into 5 or 6 next year with some tweaking in design for next season
  13. does the whistling and drill and pit get countened as score worthy material? or is it just like a brass on field warm up?? If the latter is the case, if in some rare event there is a huge tear and some members fall down, will they get penalized in the judge sheets? just wondering.....like our favorite mistakes in 2003....i mean our favorite things...yeah that was the show
  14. To me they all make sense...except for BLue Cadets set up a confusing story and help the audience member better understand what is going on. Seattle..on of their arrangemenets actually has speech written in as part of the score.....I think it does compliment it nicely BD.....well I mean he reminds me of that guy in Grease that does the dance contest....it sets up the dance derby and clarifies the whole its in reverse for you. we talked about this tonight as well in the theater.......the logical reason that bd does the show in reverse is for the entertainment (GE) value. If the show played out in true form, the last image you have of the 2005 BD is 1 slow moving tired 1000 hour dancing couple winning the dance contest while the other 30 guard members are out of it in their boogie woogie bugle boy cots. screams excitment blue...the speech made me go what the crap every time i hear it.....it doesnt grow on me, maybe because it doesnt go with the show, or because its good enough without it that you just want to hear music i did love though when the interviewer cut off the blue pit member while he was trying to explain it...you could see the guy interviewing was trying not to laugh
  15. a previous post was about how she always moved down crown does anyone have a full recap to see if this happened as well dci seems to be down
  16. This was my first viewing of Crowns show....I had always missed themthis year live, but the past few years, I really have enjoyed their product. That being said.........my first viewing of Angelus made me yearn for more! The quiet intro was nice and built very well......and then when the corps came in....HOLY CRAP that was the most beautiful sound of the night FROM ANY CORPS THAT I HEARD! I could not believe my ears...it was so lush, intune, balanced....felt like rich velvetity chocolate! Then in the middle of the show the little intro by the mellophones!!!!! BEAUTIFUL......best mello line in DCI imo. It was so refreshing to hear that after many -a- corps that sounded like they were trying to rip the bells of their horns backwards and blotched solos. AMAZING JOB CROWN the only thing I didnt like was the ending..it wasn't in your face or very exciting...kind of like three 4's tilted to the left.........their ending i believe is what is holding them back from madison (i didnt get to see boston due to a long consession stand at intermission, so i cant comment there- maybe some insight?) If Crown keeps doing what they are doing and tweaking here and there....I think they will be the next blue- moving up to challang and shake up the top 5
  17. Just wondering about this.... Saw X-men in WCU......I believer they dont have a package that is designed well enough to get them into finals (no fault of the kids in the corps...design IMO)....much rather see colts, cap reg, manderins in there that said...... do you think that team bones will get a slight inflate in scores to either a) knock out spirit/glassmen from finals b ) push them up high enough to just miss out of finals or pull away too much from 14-17 to merit an upset? ..all because xmen have made finals every year since 88???
  18. I wanted to add my two cents in this as well. I think an even bigger motivator to march other corps is COST Cadets are over 2000 this summer...compare this to the bluecoats tour fee (one of the cheapest around) and no contest where i would go think about someone in central'western pa- same distance for both corps- where would you choose?? cadets may get members to audition just for their name, but through a poor college student like myself in the mix, and canton is looking pretty nice right now you can march blue pretty much for the cost of marching jersey surf! decision made
  19. I uderstand that there is the time issue, but I dont think I was clear enough describing it Many corps set up (with us facing the field) from the far left of the stadium (where most track races start) and go onto the field to set up their pits as the previous corps was leaving I believe BK had the black guard barriers as well and they moved from the left entrance and walked over th the right side of the field. Cadets, on the other hand, had their voulenteers come out on both sides to place the barriers on the respective side. However, the Cadets voulenteers, when coming from the right, were litterally cutting of the bluecoats as the left the field (being about 2 people away from eachother) Even a bluecoats staff member asked (obviouslt a little teed off) for the voulenteers to either move to the side or wait. I thought that was rude on Cadets part. I understand the issue of time, but with every other corps using the left side of the field, it was a bit unecessary IMO for the cadets to do this....esprcially for a corps that is regarded highly with prfessionalism and respect- i would assume that hop or someone else would have brought up this piece of information to the voulenteers attention Any viewing of the corps is an impression of the corps.....even if you are eating a hot dog in the stadium or marching on the field.....with anything tieing you to a corps (even a member shirt on a free day all the way down to the voulenteers) people form an opinion of x corps from what they see, if i was a director, i would have broght this to the attention of these people quickly and appologized to blue, im positive it was because the voulenteers simply didnt know, but it put a sour taste in my mouth (until they started the show) hope that clarifies it a bit (did anyone else see this??)
  20. I created an account just so i could offer my two cents into the mix. I have been a marcher in DCA, DCI (Div II and Div I), and am currently a music major, so I am not new to the activity and (think) I have an idea of what is going on. First off- Nice line up smaller show than usual for WCU, but the selection of corps there was nice in my opinon....not bored with the 6 there! As always Geroge Parks camp there....nice to expose the kids, but at times can be loud and dont understand proper stadium etiqute.....i have heard "band" too amny times tonight! on to the review DIV II Jersey Surf- Thank you for the uniforms this year. I was not particuallry fond of the "costumes" (especially when i wore one). The black is awesome considering that Surf being div II, has early shows when the sun is out and really has a better look than white in the sun...not to mention the magic cleaning ability the black pants provide. We got our tickets right before they went on and I was handed mine after the opening statement. My first reaction was "this is surf????" ran in to watch and was impressed. big step up design wise from last year...guard was a plesant surprise.. very well executed and clean- liked the american flags....nice touch with the fireworks (i m sure they hit a few members) still comical seems to be fitting in that identity now. brass is nice some sticking out and bad moments. visual (as always) is there weakness.....clean it up and they will do well. staff took a better step up this year in design (not quite there yet but moving in the right direction) will be a contender in upcoming years - i place them 6 or 7 this year DIV I Manderins- Really good departure from the samurai theme- saw the flowers and was just waiting to hear make our garden grow! Really nice show over all. Brass had some trouble with intonation and had some phasing in the second and third numbers. Seemed fatigued by the end....had one spot towards the end though where I felt they had a major impact, but never really attained that level again. like the soft exit at the end of the show brings it full circle. should be a semis contender yet i sense that they may be starting to plateau and peak now....give it a push! Blue Knights- Good showing. I found it a little bland and much like last years offering. The horns had a lush sound, especially the small ensembles. the Middle part was really nice- crowd was into it and i really enjoyed the "stretch circle" a really nice part that only corps/band people pick up on. I did find a lot of their kneeling and such outside of the drum solo section kind of old after a while ( to me it just screamed GIVE US GE!) I didnt like the flag scheme...i think it may have had to do with the day to night/ practice to show thing, but i thought they were ugly- the ending ones looked like gobstoppers IMO....good show should place better than SCV, but a bit boring and safe for my tastes. One thing that really bugged me was that i could here the guard screaming counts THE ENTIRE SHOW over the corps.......really distracting especially when they where backfield to the the corps and I still heard it INTERMISSION- Why? waste of time Crossmen- EH- all the debate on here about will they wont they. Honestly I dont think they deserve to this year. This show did nothing to me. I was in the minority as this was one of the biggest crowd favs of the night. Before it gets hostile here, let me explain. The problem they have (beside marching ( god the phasing looked like a track meet out there) is totally design specific. I think that the show is designed too poorly to merit making finals and the kids are working very hard on a show that is desgned to be in a 9-12 range...the problem is that the normal 12-17 corps are getting better and crossmen isnt up to snuff on the curve. I think its not designed to go as far as it could but to play it safe and it backfired...the corps cant do more than what they are given. The hornline was nice, not as good as 04 and perc was ok some ticks between the 2... the high point was the guard....years better than 04- you can tell that this is a very young corps. The visual program is what is killing them. The one thing I loved was the color scheme in the gurad unis and flags....it really looked amazing against the corps - best design in the show. The tempos change but give or take a few seconds here or there, the marchers don't lots of half time or one section goes actual bpm others halt or half time it. I think the downfall started with classical gas- really nice when in entered but after that i wanted it to build, or accelerando- it took too long and seemed flat- first impressions are the most important and this turned me off. Overall, I was very unimpressed with this show and dont see them above 13th ( i think 14-15 is where they should be at ) but come the end of the season the Bones name may inflate their score (that would be a pity too) Bluecoats- NOticable jump in demand and excecution from xmen......i think there plumes for the helmets are shorter ( I remember them loking like ponies last year) may be my imagination though. This was an on noght for them...solos were amazing and the small ensembles were breathtaking...loved the overtones! 1 trumpet was overplaying and ruined some moments for me..but easy fixes. love the guard...amazing work there, and they know it....the whole corps knows they are good and they show it in their performances. perc is tight but i didnt like the drum speak...didnt fit in to me....unlike cadets...it just kinda floated there and didnt go anywhere- imo messed up the groove they had going b/c i had to stop and think what is this for.......would be better without....should be a fight for 5th with them and madi ( hopefully crown as well (idealistic) On a funny note..all the band academy kids were wondering why the audience was boooing blue! Cadets- AMAZING SHOW, but i felt the corps (hornline specifically) was a little off their game...maybe a hard practice day. love when the audience was telling the girl not to open the door. Saw her and asked the time pre show...it was very cool (even if it is gimick-y and cheesy) probably looked really stupid with a big dumb grin on my face. Micing worked really well in the show and guard was phenominal I noticed that around halfway through the crowd became less responsive...myself included...i think it was the fact that there is so much to see and so much stuff is going on, your brain doesnt let you clap cause you are constantly scanning and serching for things and you are afraid you moght miss something if you cheer. i hope this one takes it in boston amazing show..cant wait to see it when they have it clique TWO THINGS THAT REALLY BUGGED ME ABOUT THE SHOW 1) Hopkins paced the track and started screaming lets go come on etc.. during their performance...i thought it was rude to fans....can we make a rule? 2) Cadets voulenteers began setting up the black barriers on the right side of the field as they bluecoats were exiting...they were going in front of them as the tunerd onto the track to walk past the audience....that put a <**> did they just do that look on my face.....totally rude and inappropriate..they could have waited..I know they were voulenteers and probably didnt know any better, but it still reflected poorly on the cadets organization and i was offended for the bluecoats thats all hope you like it! Cade
