I don't think anyone has mentioned the future Santa Clara Stadium in California, future home of the 49ers. It is supposed to open in 2014. I heard that some DCI drum corps are from that part of the country, but I forget which ones. What do you think?

I have to say I agree with you on both counts. The DVD quality is great, but the viewing experience is better on the old VHS tapes they used to sell (800 Video Express?) and on the VHS tapes I made from the PBS broadcasts. There is a "being there" quality that is missing from the DVDs. And I would suggest that, rather than just watching the shows from 12th through 1st, I'd prefer to watch them all in order of appearance. I can't imagine that it would be difficult or take up much additional disc space to have alternate track sequence options. I'll add that I would have much rather watch the announcement of scores than to hear Rondinaro and Cesario talk about politics and world events.

Hey, it's the off season so an old easter egg thread deserves a bump. Plus, I just got my hands on the 2007 DVD and am checking out the Carolina Crown easter egg. Great stuff!

Too bad they didn't include a quality software program.

Not really. When I heard the electric guitar, I wanted to see it because I thought there might be some showmanship going on (from the non-existent guitarist). When I heard a cello counterpoint in a recent Bluecoats show, I wanted to see it. When I hear a big string ensemble, I know I'm not going to see it because it would have been obvious. I like to see what I hear when it comes to real instruments.

Synths have the capability to sound like just about anything. But just because they can doesn't mean they should. I do the same with my synths in my home studio, but I would never do that if I was playing to a 1/2 stadium full of people.

Thanks for posting. It's strange to have a rock show without an electric guitar, particularly when there is an actual electric guitar part to be played and it's played on a synth. Bizarre.

Good going, Cadets! These last two shows are going to very interesting! From what I've seen and heard, it seems that any of the 2011 Cadeviliers could win the title in other years. This is a tremendous season and a great set of shows from top to bottom.

I predict that the lowest placing corps in 2011 prelims will receive the new lowest score in DCI history. Anybody know what the current record is?

Does anybody know if DCI intends to have only one panel of judges for the entire day? That is the only way I could imagine this working, and be fair to the competitors. But even with the breaks, it seems like a lot to expect of an individual judge and panel to judge a 14-hour day.
