  1. To clarify: The announcer announced COLTS as 63.35, when actual score was 65.35, so Blue Stars thought we were within .20 when in reality we were within 2.20
  2. i'm hearing that the announcer announced Colts score as 63.35 in error...ugh.
  3. Hey Stella...had to take a break...I'm going to be at either Cedarburg or So Milw, New Holstein and then the home show in August and the whole week at DCI.
  4. Finis Coronat Opus...Its Latin for "the end crowns the work"...the Blue Star motto.
  5. GO BLUE STARS! They should be off the field by now...
  6. Hey JimWolf...thanks for the nice comment on the 77 Blue Stars show! I marched that show, and it was so much fun, both musically and visually! Definately my all time favorite for the Blue Stars too! Sure wish we could get it up on the big screen some day!
  7. Blue Stars...Amazing Grace...its an old Blue Stars thing from the 70s.
  8. Appleton WI...smaller crowd this year, probably due to the addition of Kenosha WI theatre. Very reserved crowd. GREAT sound this year. Last yr I had to go out halfway into the first corps and tell the mgmt to turn OFF the lights (!) and turn UP the sound. This year the lights went right out and the sound was deafening! My only great wish for the Classic Countdown? HAVE A THEATRE IN MADISON!!!! What a rush it would be to be in Madison with all those Madison fans and alumni watching! Now THAT would be great. I think at the very least there should be theatres in the city of each DCI Corps...talk about playing to your audience. Then they need to do some advertising besides just on DCI.org. Contact each DCI affiliate and have them send home flyers with all their members with instructions to share them with everyone/anyone. Put them up on bulletin boards in stores, copy them and send them home with band members. You would be amazed at the kind of audience this would create, with just a little effort.
  9. AH...as an ex-Blue Star I can assure you, we WERE that hardcore! While I don't remember that particular exercise (I think I have selective memory) I remember endless hours of high mark time exercises, and I guarantee you we were very hard core about it. The endless drum roll thing too...we used to do that to play us off the field AFTER a show...YUP, we were hard core in the 70s....
  10. 1977, Madison Wisconsin. Blue Stars are on the field. Its the year of Planets and hot pants and umbrellas...turns out the umbrellas were prophetic. Show starts...Dah, dah, dahdahdahdah BOOM CRASH. The thunder and lightening were right in beat with the show, but no rain! The crowd was eating it up, the show (and the air) was electric...best show of the year. At the point in the show where the rotating planets are going around, I'm on the outside planet looking towards the far back corner of the field, and I hear "DIP SH**, DIP SH** being yelled from the announcer. Can't figure out why they are calling us names, and then turn the back of the planet and start coming forward only to realize there are only about 5 of us left on the field, and the rest are all running for cover! Announcer was actually yelling DITCH IT, but there was no way we were gonna break ranks! You never saw such a bunch of disappointed Blue Stars....
  11. What GREAT news! I vote we all Fedex Moe cookies to show him how glad we are to hear he is safe!
