  1. Before each DCI Live event, I restart my computer and open only two tabs.....the live feed.....and DCPlanet. Nothing else to eat up the feed flow.
  2. I am at the same point with BD tonight as I was last year at Allentown. At the start of both 2015 and 2016, I was disappointed. Can't wait to see them next week!
  3. Can't wait to see it on DCI Live NEXT SATURDAY !!!
  4. Could be pouring by the time Troop's DM gets on the field for scores.
  5. The least they can announce is "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome to the field, from (wherever the show is).......I N T !!!"
  6. They don't perform "well into night" often enough for the use of them full time.
  7. Yes....and I see where it mightl be.... ....right after the two shots are fired on the stagecoach. the corps is in perfect pre-Z-pull formation..... that can easlily develop into the crown.
  8. That may sound impossible from 4th, but 1-2-3 are so tight that if you pass #3 by 0.5, you pass all three!
  9. I understand your point of view.....keep our comments to the "performance." However, all those props, signs, etc. are a PART of the performance. If you would like to have comments on EXECUTION of the show, that's something else. In reality, you will probably get comments about both.... and that should help. It sounds like the crowd is up for them.... Good luck!!!
  10. The explanation is quite simple....we enjoy and appreciate EVERY corps from 24 to 16. Once you get into semifinal territory, some individuals have such strong feelings about their favorite corps, that they criticize more harshly the corps in the same bracket.....
  11. I've noticed that the lighting is so powerful and even at these "dome" shows that no shadows are cast anywhere. The only downside is hat they wipe out some images on tarps.
  12. How about if instead of being a shade down from the corps proper, the guard costumes were a higher shad.....say all purple and Judas in scarlet? Also red and purple silks...... you see rifles and flags spinning, but very little else of them. edit: except for the final minute.
  13. Absolutely, Fred....... your explanation also shows why Crown and SCV score higher than ACADEMY....order, symmetry, melody, PLUS a bell, and a whistle.....
  14. not only do I agree with you about making it look effortless, but I believe there is additional difficulty because, just as with last year's show, they use lines and patterns, not just random running and blasting. I remember last year near the closer when part of the horn line was 4 x 4 next to boxes. As they mounted the boxes from rear to front, the 2nd row right end was late and mounted with the horn player directly in front. Everyone could see that. Make a late move in this year's show and stand out like a sore thumb. The ACADEMY show is more difficult because it relies on precision....no place to fake or cover up. Oh, and did I mention that they are as entertaining as .... er....inferno?
  15. In all honesty, though, if you put 30,000 people into a stadium that holds 30,000, two-thirds of the seats would be considered to be in the suckage area. Goal line to goal line on one side only makes only one-third of the desirable seats in ANY size stadium.
  16. Until 1984, it was called the North Central region by the Census Bureau.... and that seems to have more sense than Mid West. I guess Mid West was used when there was a less populated Far West.
  17. Hmmmm.....South Dakota is in the NORTH and North Carolina is in the SOUTH. Where are Old York, Old Jersey, Old Mexico, and Old Hampshire?
  18. The suggestion of that headline is ridiculous, Fred...... this is America---the headline for last night should be "TWENTY-FOUR corps received GOLD Medals at this year's San Antonio Regional. Fourteen Thousand fans roared in approval." I have to add that I STILL think that the finest moment at San Antonio came last season when Pioneer had disastrous transportation troubles and struggled to pull into the stadium in time to take a 2-point penalty, perform after the Blue Devils (and warmly received by the crowd), and came out in dead last. That shouldn't be called Alamo bravery by far, but it shows the leadership and gumption that I look for in the leaders and performers of one of our corps. Your "almost blasphemous" comment rattled my thought stream back to that fine moment. Thank you, Fred.
  19. Well, I'll be the first to brag (admit), I had Genesis, Surf, Cavs, and SCV in the correct spot..... NOBODY ELSE !
