  1. Nope..... it was a FULL run thru. everything is on the field.
  2. Friday night report….they have about 120 pages on the field through ELP. There were on one of the practice fields so the vantage point was low and very close, but what that does offer one is the ability to hear the horses the hornline has….cannot wait to hear them up-close again at NightBEAT after a little bit of practice between now and then when the entire ensemble can turn it up to “11” (got to have the preverbal Spinal Tap line in a “Rach Show” right?). This show will be a very accessible for the fans. There is enough stuff to spark the interest of the casual fan and enough complexity to entertain the most hardcore fan. Drummer’s will LOVE the pre-show!!! Michael Klesch’s arrangements are (as usual) to die for. I bet he snores excellent arrangements!!!! The drill is a lot more condensed than last years and I would say an emphasis has been made to staging. (a fan favorite) there are some body movements scattered throughout. Right now it’s not forced in and I anticipate that restraint will be used over the summer. I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing everything from the top of GWU football stadium tonight. As an old alum- I like what I’m seeing and hearing from the young men and women of the 2011 edition of Carolina Crown. They have a long road in front of them until Indy.
  3. heading out tonight and sat night and will not leave until I see a run-thru.
  4. lastly from what i hear the drums are going to be "On Fire". can not wait until those pix are posted.
  5. I dont think you can say that because they could not get the rights.......but i think you can say it's VH like. there are more notes in that few minutes than some corps will play in their entire show.
  6. I went last night to watch "Rach Band" ensemble. They planned on running everything through Paint it Black, but I had to leave before they got to it. They spent some time running the ballad with the front ensemble working out timing. Then once they hit the field they were working on Paint it Black. I’m hoping to get to see everything that they have on the field next weekend. from everything I’m hearing this show will be interesting.
  7. I'm looking forward to running out there this weekend to see what they have done so far.
  8. No...it's because they will go "Keith Moon" on them every night and will have new ones waiting on them the following morning
  9. IF you really want to make him pay them let him run the Dr. Beat on tour this summer
  10. I'm sooooo looking forward to seeing how this show grows this summer. I also cannot wait until the end of the month will be my 1st trip (of many) down to Gardner Web U. GO CROWN!!!
  11. Another year of finishing in the middle of the pack? This slotting is too much!!
  12. remember all the dissecting of last year's show? that was truly funny.
  13. actually the Paint it Black sounded really really great at the feb camp. musically this show is "EPIC"....now just have to wait and see how the visual develops
  14. it's a "STUD" arrangement!!!! it will blow previous ones out of the water!
  15. I will be the FIRST to break the news............."The 2011 Carolina Crown is "dusting off" an old favorite and doing "The Music Man""
  16. go back into the memory bank and remember 09 (I think) where the design staff did a fan network piece and had MORE fun goofing off instead of talking about the show. then remember 2010's preview with the "pink" feathers and no jacket.....they like to have fun and have the anticipation and rumor mill build as they sit back and watch.
  17. It does have a title and theme. But guessing they likely won’t release until after the last camp at the end of April right before move in into everydays like they have done the past few years. They really enjoy all the extra build up and rampant flying rumors.
  18. Let’s start out by reminding everyone that 2010’s- Second Chances grew out of some of the staff’s wondering “What if we had a Second Chance to do the Greener show again and what would we do different”. This is why The Promise of Living ending was added along with the 09’s main characters. In short it’s about having a “Do Over” and what would one do different? It does not necessarily matter that every nuance was gotten…..but thankfully we got some “Great Music” played by a “Great Crown Hornline”!
  19. you can sleep soundly tonight.....Crown is not doing ANY Copland or Bernstein
  20. Not a lot to report. The percussion was not there so the brass was limited to what they could run. Likely on purpose (?), but they only ran small chunks. I do know they started in on some drill. I’m not going to spill any beans on the selections, but trust me this board will LIGHT UP when it is finally announced. It will be EPIC!!!! Obviously they have their reasons for waiting until Spring Training to announce. If your nice to him....maybe Nick Starr will post something? And on the song selection/ theme…..I will withhold judgment until after seeing it on the field for a little bit. Reason is I was 100% WRONG about the last 2 year’s shows.
  21. I will be headed out to FMHS tomorrow to catch happenings with my daughter. looking forward to (hopefully) hearing them outside. it's a nice weekend here.
