  1. I marched bottom bass and contra. The bottombasses have it the hardest. Insane drill, and very limited vision--more limited than contra--is hard enough, but with all that weight strapped on, just makes it worse. Contras with limited vision to the left, and endless measures of rest are second with euphs and baris at a close 3rd. Just holdin' those puppies will do a toll on the guns. As for high brass/ guard: Running just sucks. So they get 4th. DM's don't have to jazz run at 3 to 5's and play at FFF...so no pity to them. As far as the pitsters go, their jobs are just as hard, but at a different time.
  2. All time best.....a tie between '95 Scouts and '99 SCV. Yes. At the Spokane show last year, Thunder arc'd up with Phantom for a post show jamthing...and it was awesome. Super dark. Very awesome. And TALL dudes.
  3. Well, If they learned how to spell ' breathe,' I might be interested. Any word on pricing?
  4. Visually speaking, the drums should be worn. It just looks more professional, IMO.
  5. The performance rush. The crowd. The knowing fact that your spending a ton of cash and your whole summer working your tail-end off, just to play...well and the running, marching, endless mindblowing reps, and all the other great things that make drumcorps drumcorps. Oh yeah, and the horror stories from the In 'n Out burger joint last season. Good times. :)
  6. 'Prometheus,' by Beethoven. Impossible....maybe. But it'd sound cool if someone could actually pull it off.
  7. It's not so bad looking forward or to the right, but anything to your left is blind. Nothing but beautiful contra. Easiest way to go left is to guide to the sidelines and be in your spot. But, of course, always dressing to the form.
  8. Very cool. I don't think I'll be listening to anything else at work now.
  9. I feel, if tastefully done, that drumsolos should be integrated back into the game. There's nothing more entertaining to me than a drumline that can throw down, and a hornline that can back 'em up. Especially when it's on the field. If integrated well, drumsolos would hurt the show a bit. IMHO Corps shows would be way more interesting if the corps flaunted their drumlines just a wee bit more.
  10. Thank you. Not sure of the average, but we ranged from the youngest being 13 or 14, and the eldest at 22. This is my last year marching for Thunder, for I age out. :( <**> But good luck to you and your son's marching future.
  11. Wow. That was definately a run I'd like to have another shot at. Haven't seen the Homecoming show for a while, and I can't believe it wasn't cleaner. Oh, well. This year should be a little cleaner.....
