  1. This corps is coming out with what is a very competitive look (I don't by into the Cesario cookie-cutter and the fact he mustv'e bought about 500 reams of purple fabric and is trying to rid of it, but anyways...) and a matched set of horns. I bet they got a sweet deal, so be thrilled for them. They have a matched set of horns, new drums, uniforms, 100 kids and they have NEVER stepped on the field. They seem to be building their corps the right way, so be happy for them and be careful about dissing a set of marching horns before you've ever heard them. My .02
  2. We need Euphoniums... ::chirp chirp chirp:: I'll see if our 'shipment' is coming in. BTW- If you don't like your king, I'll buy it back from you. It's in mint condition!
  3. Bring me a Euph. We'll see who's arms will drop fastest. ^0^ Do I just get bragging rights when yours drop first, or will you also wash my car? b**bs
  4. For anyone out there whining about a trumpet's weight (oh no, Monette's are heavy! :o ). Hold a Euphonium for three minutes---that will clear up any misconceptions about heaviness! ^0^
  5. The biggest difference between Bb and G is this voice. Trumpets are not made to carry near as well as the bugle, and it really shows. The Kanstul G Powerbore really carries above and beyond any Bb horn, with clarity. SCV Cadets have chosen to dump their Bb trumpets for Kanstul Sops because they couldn't purchase the rest of the line in Bb. Honestly, it's the best thing they couldv'e done because they'll definitely reach the stands better now with their sopranos.
  6. I would say the fourth valve isn't really worth the expense and weight. Go with a 5/4 Kanstul in G...best sound. Second is a King K-90. Btw--I need to buy a King (or a kanstul cheap). If you have one, PM me:)
  7. Contact me at RenegadeBaritone@aol.com if you're interested. In great shape!
  8. Just clean it after anytime that you lose/misplace it at a corps rehearsal, esp. junior corps. In Cavs, it was tradition to '###' any MP left around. I left mine out once for a few minutes and disinfected it/washed it just in case anyone found it before I did. Yes, I still have that MP but I never use it! ;-)
  9. LOL Of course...time wears down brass instruments in general. Particularly after the first couple of years, horns lose their ability to produce the great volume required for drum corps. Fortunately, RCR can take care of those horns. Renegades can get the mouthpieces, but we can recycle your horns. What would DC be without a friendly Nor Cal rivalry! B) I presume RCR is going after a Yamaha sponsorship for shiny new Bb's for next year! I'll just keep my old "G" Bugles:)
  10. Tarnish invariably ruins all brass and mouthpieces. I recommend you place them in a box and donate them to the Renegades Drum and Bugle Corps. ::sarcasm mode off::
  11. You have rights to play your instrument from like 9 to 9 (in most any state), as long as it's quieter than a lawnmower. I suggest you do some research for your area and find out what you can and cannot do. I told my manager once that a neighbor of mine was being un-realistic, and that I was well within the sound ordinances of my county, and that seemed to clear it up.
  12. Who wants a mute? It ruins all the fun of getting a 'neighbors are complaining' letter from the manager. B)
  13. I want to buy/trade for a Kanstul Euph in nice condition for my own usage. Contact me at ToddOliver@aol.com Thanks
  14. Before my freshman year of college, I missed a two week ROTC orientation at my college because I was on tour, and I thought I was going to get my ### handed to me. When my commanding officer, Lt. Etta Jones, said "Oh, that's fine, I understand!" I was in complete shock. It turned out she marched Contra for Phantom in the late 70's/early 80's (four years, I believe). What was even more strange was that the Marine Lt. in the office next door marched Bridgemen in the same era...
  15. Bb? G? Can't make up your mind? Have your Drum Corps play in G, and then use this horn for your marching band in the winter months. Maybe you want to buy the concert conversion and use this great sounding horn as a concert tuba as well. Maybe you just want to own a horn that you can take to any group and any time...hey, buy this one and do it all! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=2501938130
  16. Impress the neighbors. Buy today! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=2502012192
  17. But that would be boring... Been there, done that..... Along with Every other corps. I think the potential for damage of some sort is a requirement.. B) ^0^ Nice to hear from the guy who gave me a couple contras to repair!!!
  18. Horn Stacks? ::cringes:: There are only two things I like stacked. Women, and pancakes.
  19. Dating a flute player is like riding a moped. It feels good, 'til somebody SEES you. ;)^ Haha Tony! That was a good one, but thanks to flute players I got dates in high school! See you at the open house...

  22. BUT---those SCV Euphs sunded mighty nice as well:)
  23. Well...I love PR, but I think this poll is a sign to NOT switch to Bb's! I love those G horns (and would love their line of Willson/DEG Euphs).
