  1. This may be outdated, but take a large beach towel, sissors and drum key (or small metal thing that can be used as a small hammer-type thingy with you to camp... Cut in half on the short side creating 2 lengthy sections. (Example: One 4x2 towel becomes Two 4x1 Sections) Take one of the new sections, place one corner over the lug head closest to the harness crossbar on the drum 3... Take a drum key, gently tap the top of the lug area on the towel... You'll notice a worn area in the towel... Gently push worn area on the towel over the lug (it should be snug)... The towel should now be hanging on the drum by the one lug. Next, take the other end of the towel and wrap it around drum 3, around drum 1 into the gap between drum 1 and 2. Find a lug that is closest to the other corner of the towel around the area where drum 1 and 2 are connected together by the mounted spacer. Gently tap a hole to stretch over the towel. The cover should now be held in place. Go around the drums, stretching the towel in tapping over lugs as you go along. Don't stretch it so much that the original corner mount looses tension or the towel begins to tear. Towels naturally stretch, so work with the material, but don't over stretch it... Repeat the same from Drum 4 around drum 2... Lastly, you can take the sissors and cut the fabric to not cover the drums on the front side... If you do this correctly, you should need no pins, velcro or other fasteners to stay on the drums... AND it should only take 10 to 15 mins, depending how accurate you want to be... Hope this helps, future cover makers...
  2. Actually not officially sanctioned since 1979... :) When I joined the feeder Scouts in 1973 (a local corps)... All members had to hold at least a tenderfoot ranking in the corps (troop 600) in order to participate! (Scout History Lesson) When the corps officially split into 2 separate corps in 1951, the explorer scouts really didn't do anything with scouting anymore. The junior scouts picked up those duties, so the entire organization could continue to benefit from the status of being scouts. Sorry-now back to the regularly scheduled thread...
  3. :) Did either team take a hit against the cap?
  4. Along with bicycle bells and bicycle horns too... :)
  5. Seems like like only yesterday, when we had parades before shows, preshow inspections and camps at Queen of Apostles High School? I wish I kept my envelope hat from back then, of course my head has gotten bigger since then! (Geno-30 Snares) Thats quite a few egos in one area! :)
  6. If it's done as a section... It's cool!!! If it's done as an individual, I consider it showboating! (That's what I & E is for) Since the beginning of drum corps, uniformity rules a section and makes it impressive to watch... (IMO)
  7. Hey Geno... Could you hold on to the stick at least until about 2:30pm, that's when the 4oz's of espresso usually start to wear off and my nap time begins. :) The sacrifice's we make to be young again, eh?
  8. I think that this thread should have been named... "Contra-per-ceptions" Hey Geno, if you put as much 1/2 as much effort into learning the Alumni book, as you post here-you'd have the snare book memorized 4 times over! ;) See you Saturday for some marching up and down the square! Pearsony
  9. Though I'm not taking sides, I agree with your post PhantomFanT... Actually, in the end, it's not how you start, but how you finish that really matters! Btw- a corps placed 14th place at DCI in 1972 then placed 4th the next year at DCI... Why? Probably because of hard work in design by the staff and execution by the members... The Corps was Madison... *************** Roark- Thanks for the show insight! Are you going to this evenings show?
  10. Thanks for the videos DDAN... Nice to the see the Yellow & Black back on the field!
