  1. One of my friends was teaching elementary musicians, and told his baritones to open up like an opera singer. They replied, "Opera? What's opera, do you mean Oprah, the talk show lady?" We laughed for a while about that one.
  2. Back to the topic at hand. I really enjoyed everyone elses show. Cabs were screaming, and their drumline was pretty clean. The Bb horns really make them have such a warm ensemble sound even though they're playing some screaming latin jazz. That 5th bass drum was insane!!! I swear he was going 180degrees on his hits. Empire sounded good behind the leads on the piano. Leads weren't so bad themselves mind you, heheh, personally I just think that they are showcased maybe a little too much. Just my opinion, but they still won, so shows how much I know. Corps looked and sounded great regardless. Brigs were a lot smaller but still packed a punch. It was nice to meet a couple of them at the rehearsal space also. We can't wait to meet up with them during semis and finals. We're sharing the same hotel from what I understand. I think it is a very good year for DCA, and I can't wait to see some of the other corps. Thanks for having us out east. I'm still bus lagged from driving out there though. 28hrs on a bus out of 48hrs in a weekend is a little too much for me. Take care, and hope you all come check out the Madison Alumni corps either Wed night, or at semis. It's going to be something people won't soon forget. 21 snares, and I still can't hear back to them for time hahaha.
  3. Kilties: 2005 - 14th place baby!!! Oooh yeah! But that's ok, because I'm really excited to see the progress we make this year, and as long as we make one person in the crowd get on their feet to see some drum corps, I'm pretty happy with that. Maybe it's just the ol' Scouts mentality, but that's what its all about. See you all on the field this year, I can't wait to see what happens! Good luck!
  4. I will still take JC on in Karaoke. What it all REALLY boils down to was that I was just too tired and lazy to go that night. I invite all of DCP to come witness the rumble-mania that will be Kiltie Karaoke 2006. Ooooh yeah!
  5. I think its pretty cool that the younger people in DCA get a chance to perform and at least get critiqued alongside their peers. Any excuse for a kid to get better at playing a horn is ok in my book, then again I'm an idealistic Music Educator. We're on the right track, as long as they don't start amping solos.
  6. Once again, I wish I could've been there. I saw that almost all the hornline was there, which is great. I can't wait to see what was done at the next camp. This is going to be a really fun year. I think my fellow Scout buddy will be there soon also to fill that mello hole. Please keep your comments on your blog please. Like you said its there for you to make whatever comments you have. DCP is no place for negativity, and disrespect. Don't make yourself look worse. See you all at the next camp!!!
  7. The jacket is actually quite comfortable, even in the summer, because usually the only time you'd wear it was late at night when it was cooler out after the show. If you notice also, the guys usually wear it without a shirt on, so it compensates for the lack of shirt. You can also wear it year round like someone else stated Also on the bus, you put it on the seat in front of you, and you get to stare at the fleur for endless hours, which is a nice memory of mine.
