Let's see that's Vis | Perf Vis | Colorguard Music | Brass right? IMHO adding those captions all help CC not hurt them.

i think they are right -- just got a text saying "we beat cadets"

A New Direction in DCI Design - Is this an MJ moment?
corpsband replied to Plan9's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I've started to reply to this 3 times and abandoned the reply. I'm not sure I can concur with this categorization: BD = no holds barred, eye-candy, surprising and powerful EVERYONE ($1 to she who cannot be named) else = traditional design In fact reading it again makes is seem like it's flamebait. I know said that's not your intent but....seriously? I won't even go any further than this because....well..... I won't. ps. This my first year "rooting" for 1 corps (felt obliged to since my kid is marching). In the past I've been just a fan of the activity. Kids at band camp are always all over me "Why do you wear so many different corps's shirts -- don't you have a favorite?" I've never minded BD winning so often-- who wouldn't want to sit through their encore? So this is not a knee-jerk response. -
A New Direction in DCI Design - Is this an MJ moment?

Thematically that running scatter makes sense there. The show is returning full circle and departing to the arrival point !! And no need to credit to BD -- what BD did with there running was significantly different what CC is doing (much to BD's credit) . -
Wonder how many folks are furiously F5'ing the DCI Scores page to see that recap

Get it Crown ! and THANK YOU Kevin!

Crown - was the Wizard of Oz the basis?
corpsband replied to cadet93's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I pleaded with my kid to take comprehensive notes when the show was described to her but....teenagers! Anyway I'm sure " wizard-of-oz-ish " was one of the phrases she mentioned. -
Spigot?!? Is Decatur really THAT bad ?

I DO wish there was more effort on the part of the corps who turn away so many kids at their auditions to turn them *to* other corps. I realize that many of the kids say it "corps X or no where" but that's only because they haven't met the kids / staff at "corps Y". Sharing lists has been proposed many times but I don't think it has much chance of success once they kid's been told "sorry your not experienced enough to to march with X this season." It would be cool if auditions were at a big enough facility to house 4 corps auditions and kids could go from A to B to C to D in one weekend. But that's just not how auditions are run these days and the "have's" are quite satisfied with they way they run things at their auditions -- they have no motivation to change. ANYWAY I think 150 is a great number (fills 3 coach buses).

Report from Cadet's Rehearsal
corpsband replied to CHSnare's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Actually you *did* when your buddy posted stuff you thought he shouldn't have. If a stranger did it and you got blamed, I'd be more inclined to see your side. But 1. you know who posted it 2. you know he shouldnt have 3. you showed up the next day video'ing again. What did you expect: a jury trial? -
Report from Cadet's Rehearsal
corpsband replied to CHSnare's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
While I fully understand the attitude of those who are baffled by anyone who complains about a video ending up on youtube, you do need to respect the wishes of the corps. Attending a rehearsal is a privilege. As for the staff being rude -- I'd expect them to be rude when distracted from what they're getting paid to do. And if the Cadets have a chip on their shoulder about being unfairly singled-out online, well --- I guess that's not hard to understand either. YES it's a different world out there and YES I think a lot people don't get it but you still have to be respectful to others who chose to play by their rules (even if they are out-dated and out-of-touch). -

Bluecoats: Show sort of lost me as it went on. Ballad did NOT floor me (at least on the webfeed) and closer was definitely showing some signs of fatigue. I want to watch it again because there were moments I liked too! -
