  1. I don't know if I (I being my knees) could stand any more years beyond the 7 I already started with...
  2. Yeah, besides the into, the only musical change was a section we cut out during alldays... I do remember it going back and forth between raw power and more mild control... wish it could have found a better equilibrium. Fun piece to play though. My opener fav's: Blue Stars, Phantom, SCV, Crown - in no particular order...
  3. There's a Hole in the Bucket, Dear Liza, Dear Liza.
  4. As far as member base is concerned, metro Atlanta is pretty diverse, I've met many members particularly from Cavaliers, Phantom and Cadets from cities surrounding Atlanta. The major world class corps are pretty predictable geographically... Spirit & Crown There are shows in Alpharetta, the Atlanta regional of course, and also one only 1 1/2 hours west of Atlanta at Jacksonville State University. I actually attend Kennesaw Mountain HS, where there have been MANY drum corps members in the 8 or so years of the school's existence, including the 2007 members, 4 of which were in Carolina Crown, 3 in Spirit. & The current new conductor at Phantom Regiment, Koji Mori.
  5. Oh, everybody in that region could have beaten each other easily, it all just came down to small caption differences. Blue Stars and Academy had brass, we can percussion and visual, and Xmen and Scouts were nippin' at the heels... Add 2 weeks to that tour and look what might have happened... Stiff competition, eh?
  6. I love watching practice much more than participating in it. :P Nah, I'd never trade a minute of it. :)
  7. I think a lot is to be said for presenting DCI as less of an "elitist" activity and opening it's doors to a more varied audience as far as prospective members and fans go...
  8. Revolution '06 stayed with us in Madison. Awesome group - got to share a meal or two - and Wednesday or so of finals week we got up on a hill and watched a full run of their show and went crazy for it, then they watched ours and did the same. It was really awesome to look at it beyond competitiveness.
  9. I'll get on to JJ about it... lol I'm not one for argument, but I'm pumped!
  10. Name: Will Woods Gender: M What age were you when you marched: 15 (Rookie Year) What age are you now: 17 Which instrument did you march/play: Soprano Which corps is you favorite (besides your own): Phantom Regiment What is your (intended) college major/degree in: Business Admin. Which corps did you march with: Spirit from JSU What years: '06-'08 (to 2012?) Why did you join drum corps: I had looked up to it and everyone in it years prior to marching. What was your best experience: Walking on to the field at finals. Do you intend to continue to support DCI after you retire from competition: Absolutely.
  11. This is a pretty interesting parallel to this argument, just in regards to stretching for football. http://www.pponline.co.uk/encyc/0852.htm I guess it just depends on feel and habit.
  12. Like this? :P EDIT: No smite of any kind here... I'm in the show. That's right, first hand experience with a child development show.
  13. Interesting tradition from hs: We always take a little picture of "The Scout" (screamer from 95-96) and tape it to where we need power. For me? Cajones.
  14. I hope you aren't alluding to me! Haha, she means don't do this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=mdjkQVbHG98
  15. Along those lines... Don't talk about your high school band, don't audition with any band music and try not to wear a shirt from your band or the omnipresent "BAND NERD" shirt. Why? Cuz it aint yo high school band.
  16. No kidding! haha I remember walking by that thing at the show there this past summer... How much would just the exterior of that monster cost?
  17. Familiar? :P I liked them once I saw the show from the stands, especially the added effects to contrary motion on the field.
  18. This is the first thread I think I have ever read where every response (so far) seems sensible... lol Hope you find a good family! (or two?)
  19. I have to say that the hornline is pretty pumped too...
