  1. First of all, great idea to push the start time back to 8pm. Today was over 100 degrees in most of Maryland and Southern Pennsylvania, so the extra half hour let it get a little cooler before show time. I don't have too much to say about each corps. I haven't read up on the programs/themes of each corps, so I really didn't know what the grand idea was for each show. Raiders-I hope your snare drummer got some cold water and rest! Poor guy walked off the field after the opener and left a donation on the track. Nice show-lots of cleaning and finishing to do, but nice offering. Surf-I didn't need a program for this show-pretty straight forward. American patriotic songs presented in a fun way. Nice job. Spirit-I don't hate the uniforms as much as I thought I would, although I feel like they are something I would see at a WGI show. Lose the vocals, they made no sense. Some little girl behind me kept saying, "what are they saying?" Neat show. Crossmen-Fun show. I like it. Now, clean it INT: This group needs to get its act together. Unbelievable. Talking, prerecorded music that had nothing to do with drum corps blaring through its amps. Boston-The Crusaders gave me my first goosebumps of the night. I don't get the theme, but I really like the show. Phantom Regiment- Nice show. Good musical selections and I kinda get the idea without having read up on the show. Carolina Crown- Yay hornline Again, no idea what the theme was, but it sounded nice, whatever it was. Please toss the synth parts-you have like 16 people in the pit-use them better. I was loving the one dude in the guard who did nothing but toss the rifle really high and catch it every time! Fantastic encore by Phantom Regiment. They did a greatest hits encore. Packed house for this show. No trouble with parking. Tickets were priced fairly. I enjoyed a "Mr. Know-it-all" who was sharing his knowledge about DCI with strangers after the encore and during awards. I was chuckling inside Good times in Chambersburg.
  2. We were there. We carpooled for Sunday's parades and so several of us had an adventure with parking before the Bel Air parade. I made it back to the Shop-Rite in time to hear the massive drum corps circle. I would have loved to have been part of that..maybe that's something we can do at a DCA South show. I got to hear Sun Devils, Fusion, Alliance, and Bucs to various warm-ups over the two days of parades and all four corps sounded great. It was a good time. DCA and the alumni corps community get great representation for these Maryland parades.
  3. Anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand per parade. One July 4th parade in Virginia paid $2000 for a high school band. I personally love parades because I love performing. I think anytime you get to perform with your corps, it's a good thing. It's also a nice break from the day-to-day rehearsal and competition schedule.
  4. Toss 'em. It just doesn't sound right.
  5. This story appeared in the paper today. We're very excited.
  6. Shenandoah Sound had a special guest at this weekend's rehearsal: the News & Messenger newspaper. I am personally very excited to share the article with DCP. It took a lot of emails and phone calls to get the paper to visit us, but I am THRILLED that they did. http://www2.insidenova.com/isn/news/local/...petition/59843/ Enjoy!
  7. Yeah, Frederick County is pretty amazing, what can I say?
  8. Very sharp. I love that you've got the white pants!
  9. Thanks! We're excited! I'm not sure where the show is being held though..anyone?
  10. Shenandoah Sound needs 1 bass and 1 snare and 2-3 guard folks! Message me or email PR@ShenandoahSound.org for more information.
  11. Bump. We have immediate openings in the guard. Please email me for information.
  12. Shenandoah Sound Drum & Bugle Corps has an immediate opening for drummers. If you want to march in a family-friendly corps with a flexible schedule, please consider us. Email me for any information: PR@ShenandoahSound.org
  13. Shenandoah Sound Drum & Bugle Corps has immediate openings in the drum line and color guard. If you are looking to march this summer, look no further than Virginia's only drum corps. Please email me for more information PR@ShenandoahSound.org
  14. Shenandoah Sound is Virginia's only drum & bugle corps. We are currently seeking members to fill out our battery and pit. Our schedule is flexible and everything we do is on the weekends. We are an all-age corps. Please visit www.ShenandoahSound.org or email me PR@shenandoahsound.org for more information.
  15. Shenandoah Sound is Virginia's only drum and bugle corps and we are looking for more guard members. We are an all-age, competitive corps based in Manassas Park, Virginia (Prince William County). If you are looking for somewhere to march, give us a try. Our schedule is flexible and everything we do is on the weekends. Please email me for more information: PR@ShenandoahSound.org www.ShenandoahSound.org
  16. We had a great weekend in Manassas Park. We put two more songs on the field and even found time to work on a parade piece for a very large, important parade through Washington DC in July (more details to come). We still are looking for 2-3 more drummers and a few more guard people. If you are looking for a place to march this summer, give us a try! Email me for more information: PR@ShenandoahSound.org
  17. It's getting mighty hot in the DC area, and that means it's time once again for Shenandoah Sound to hit the field. We have rehearsal this weekend in Manassas Park, Virginia. We'll rehearse Saturday from 10-7 and Sunday from 10-4. If you're interested in marching with Virginia's only drum corps, come on out. We are busy putting drill on the field for our show South Pacific. It's coming together nicely. Please visit www.ShenandoahSound.org for more information including directions to the rehearsal site. As always, feel free to email me for more details about the corps!
  18. Yep. Agree 100%. I don't think a lot of members think about housing/rehearsal sites that way while they're on tour. That's a lesson that has to be ingrained in the members' heads from day one. It has to come down from the top and be enforced by the DM, staff, and section leaders. Happy drum corps hosts = corps being invited back
  19. Agreed. "Open" and "A" are perfect. They make sense and can be understood by anyone. Plus, since corps are scored against each other regardless of class, the scores mean something; whereas in DCI, a 90 in "Open" doesn't mean jack compared to a 90 in "World."
  20. We won "Best Bowling Shirt and Shorts Combination"
  21. Very nice! We're looking forward to seeing GCS back on the field this summer!
  22. As a lifelong Maryland resident, I would love to see a DCI corps in the state. However, people in Maryland are not swimming in an empty sea of drum corps: Maryland has a local competitive drum corps, it's us. We're right across the Potomac in Northern Virgina. That said, I would welcome a DCI corps to my state; it would be nice to keep the talent in the state. Good luck with your endeavors.
  23. Just not interested in seeing those shows. That's all. I hope to be at future events.
