  2. Doing my download this weekend, something has got to better than nothing.
  3. There needs to be someway for corps to signify they were finalist! Let hope for the best!
  4. Overall a good thing! Kudos to DCI for making the change and hes hope that the right thing will be done in regards to payscale and such. Also good luck to all Open Class Corps lets knock down some world class corps and get in the Friday Show!
  5. Then where does the money come from? and why the disparity? Why the excusivity?
  6. But it should be profits be shared equally amonst all participants or organizations that fall under the definition of the non-profit. Right now that does not happen - you have corps making upwards of 60k for a seaon and some making less than 10k and it is not even based on how much you tour cause some opens are touring more than some worlds right now.
  7. Not working = Less shows and no more regional circuits (Which to me is bad but to some it may be good) "It" = Top 6 branching off
  8. Apparently this has been is discussion for several years but everyone to chicken to act upon it. When you look at the discussion on this board it is primarily about the top 6 anyway. even in the fan base voting it usally is the same 6 corps. All I know is something is not working and something drastic is needed to jolt things back in a positive direction.
  9. There is word from a top source that 7 corps believe they are the show and are making move to demand more revenue and exculsive rights in competition. The rest of the field of corps are just filler corps in thier eyes and not real competition. (NOT MY VIEW AT ALL) Would you stop supporting DCI if the top 7 corps moved on? This is an interesting point of discussion and one I hope does not get censored or closed upon. My vote would be to let them go..... I find myself every year more entertained by the "lower" placing corps anyway.
  10. DKR is back to new field turf as of this past year. I should know I bought a piece of sod at the 2009 spring game when they were removing the grass to replace it with turf!
  11. In my talk with other Directors this is where the disparity blares the worst. World Class Tour Money = $50k to 60K Open Class Tour Money = Less than $13k For some open corps that do @8 shows, I guess that would be equitable; for those that tour as much as (and in some cases more) - not equitable. Add to that, that all open class corps have to pay for thier championship housing anywhere up to $35 and hour while World class are housed on DCI bill. Certain local shows are World class only and they are locked out of an oppourtunity to perform and if they reside in a location with a DCI sanctioned event, they are not allowed to host thier own show there but are pushed 200+ miles outside thier city. Back in 2005 they were told to build thier own shows and draw thier own crowds which many did only to have those successful shows become World Class shows in 2008 and Open class locked out once it showed profitability. There are other disparities that I could address but it makes no difference. It is what it is. Sorry to say it by but when you have $50K added to an open class budget i bet it sure solves a lot. But Understandable the World Class payout is only that much as long as they only have 20 corps to spread the wealth. Add another 15 to that and we see everyone's share drop. We must remember that as much as DCI and corps are not for profit, they share the wealth as if they are a for profit business. I doubt the disparity in other charitable companies is the same. Politics play heavy in this activity on the field and off and you have to be completely blind to not see it. I wish Capital Regiment a speedy recovery and it was a joy seeing them make it back to the field in 2009. Hurry back!
