  1. Oh and by the way, if you must compare a sports franchise to BD, I would liken them to the Chicago Bulls of the 90's....those guys knew how to win, and being a Miami Heat fan, I hated em!!!!
  2. I am a BD alum and as much as I would have liked to have won the years that I marched, I was then and still am now more proud of the compliments I receive of the sheer power and performance qualities that have endured to this day. Were there some knuckleheads that got out of character, and misrepresented the corps? Sure! But there are so many other examples that can be cited of the same types of behavior from a huge percentage of 2nd place corps throughout DCI's history....AND ALL OF IT, REGARDLESS OF ORGANIZATION IS REPREHENSIBLE...and how much you wanna bet that next year's 2nd place corps will do the same? and the next year, the next year, and the year after that-regardless which corps it is.... Now I'm not gonna sit here and say that I wasn't looking to win when I marched, but in no way shape or form was that a reflection of the organization...I AM COMPETITIVE and that's that. I still get ###### when I lose at Madden, Guitar Hero, Chess, or even at the Thanksgiving Day football game that all of us have played on one occasion or another....the difference is I am ###### at myself!!However, I had the sense to know that the winners of the years that I marched, deserved it, and I gave them their do!! When you practice and perform at the highest levels, not just in Drum Corps, but in school, or at work, there is a competitive aspect that is ever-present....bottom line! Is there arrogance on the part of BD members past and present? Here's a hint....ABSOLUTELY!!!! That is why we go to Concord year after year.....And if you don't think that future members won't have this arrogance, well then talk to me if and when you are fortunate enough to march there, and prove me wrong!! Other than that, in the grand scheme of things, it is just still a juiced up marching band show...now excuse me while I go and pay my mortgage.....
  3. Teal Sound (aka "Turquoise Noise") is looking to fill guard spots for this upcoming summer's 10th anniversary production of "Voices of the Seasons".... If you are in search of some fun in the sun, great times, and great friends that can last for a lifetime, then contact our Colorguard Caption Supervisor, Budd Williams. (budd@tealsound.org) Inquiries can also be directed to our Executive Director, Randy Blackburn. (randy@tealsound.org) IT'S ALL ABOUT THE TEAL!!!!!! Don't get left behind..........
  4. Hurry before time runs out....It's shaping up to be an AWESOME season! The ride continues.....
  5. too many 2nd place shows to mention........ win: 93 star place: 87 SCV show: 89 phantom
  6. Crossmen 92 was pretty sick...... But my vote goes to BD 90......ALL GO, NO QUIT!!! MM
  7. Groups like Mandarins and that 94 team from Appleton showed that it is possible to throw down like the big boys can!!! Good luck Spartans.......
  8. Hard to argue with STAR in 91 and 93......they were on another planet altogether! BD those same years is a close 2nd.....
  9. I again chime in with the "Bopster" from the 91 season, but the 92 rip in "El Congo" was wicked as well!!! Now I hate to steal thunder from this thread, and pat our backs, but notice that "The Line" is always staged in and around the Sop line during these rips because of the PHAT walking basslines that supported them.......Sorry, had to chime in!!! LOL Long Live "The LINE!!!" (Who's got the shirt now?....)
  10. I can still sing the "Bopster" from BD 91. The section even made a sick taidai T-Shirt that had the music printed on the front.....HISTORIC!!!!
  11. WHADDUP LOCOS????? Just wanna chime in and say that if you were not able to attend yesterday's Teal Sound auditions @ Santaluces, SORRY for ya!!! The talent level was WELL represented, the staff continued its demand for BOX 5 execution, and our host was absolutely incredible. A "RIDICULOUS" combination of old faces as well as a SUPERIOR group of new faces! My suggestion, DON'T MISS our next camp in Middleburg next weekend...THE RIDE CONTINUES!!!
  12. Man....Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine the absolute insaneness of this weekend. The accomplishment and the passion, the drive, the energy, and the resolution that was achieved. I couldn't have asked for more. Thanks to all of our participants! Whaddup LOCOS? MM
  13. Let's see.....How about a) Go through an entire ensemble rehearsal without some local calling the cops or honking their horn to add to the noise level of the corps B) Go around the entire length of a CONCRETE track at 200 beats per minute without your instructor yelling something clever like "OREO COOKIES" or "Get your horn up" c) Always getting your food first no matter how packed the line is at the truck stops d) You always get HUGE helpings at the food line e) When other corps get ###### about how little you practice and still whoop their tails by 5 points more to come....
