  1. I believe so. If I'm not mistaken, they weren't too far behind Phantom last year either. There's great stuff going on with their percussion.
  2. I wouldn't be too shocked by it. The scores were just low. The next night, they both went up by around a point.
  3. PR 2006 > PR 2007 > PR 2008 I know MANY will not agree with me on this, but hey, it's my opinion. PR 2007 grew on me over the course of the season, and then after listening to it once I got the Championship CDs. I can't watch it though. I didn't like the visual package at all. I didn't like the guard unis, the change in gauntlets (and the baldric? or whatever it's called). The music is FANTASTIC though. The Flower Duet is one of my favorite parts, along with the opening stuff from the pit. Phantom has put out some great shows over the last 5 years. So thanks for keeping us all entertained, Phantom Regiment! It's greatly appreciated.

  5. It isn't always young people either... Last year, there were corps parents (and other family members) sitting behind me. Throughout their daughter's show, they kept yapping. It was so annoying. "Oh, where is she? She's over there!" Yadda yadda yadda. Please, enjoy your child's show and let the rest of us do so too. Just shut up! That is all.

Hope that's ok!
  7. Visual Performance is individual marching, right?
  8. Well, I noticed that. I figured that perhaps there's more to it than that... Oh, I do have a question that I hope someone can answer (and it show my ignorance a bit regarding the captions). But how do the Blue Stars get 3rd/4th in the Visual Performance subcaptions, yet score 1st/3rd in Visual Ensemble? I think I have an idea about how that works, but I figured someone on here would be able to explain it completely.
  9. In what way? (Asking purely out of curiosity in regards to your opinion)
  10. The Cavaliers' Facebook page said they were getting ready to perform (and that was about 10-ish minutes ago). They're probably on right now, which fits with the posted time schedule too.
  11. Huh. I find it weird that The Cavaliers have the lowest difference among the top 17. Have they really only gained around 4.5 points in the last, what, 2 weeks? Compared to 12 pt difference with Crown. Wow.
  12. The Cadets? Really? Maybe in the last several years, but not this year. Seems pretty standard drum corps to me (and I really like this show, so that isn't a knock against them). I don't believe The Cavaliers are innovative with their show this year either, for what it's worth. But hey, no one says every show has to be "cutting edge." From the shows I've seen this year (which isn't many), I haven't seen anything that made me think "Wow, I've never seen this before. This is really pushing the activity somewhere new." Which reminds me, I need to take a couple hours to catch up on some shows....
  13. My Twitter Page I'll be in Orlando next weekend. I'll probably update during the show, although I'm sure I won't be the only one. Can't wait! I need to see some drum corps live.
  14. While I haven't seen BD's show yet to know what the sitting in chairs actually entails (besides, you know, just sitting in a chair), I would guess that The Cavaliers who did the sit and spin section of 2003 wouldn't call that easy. From what I understand, it messed up their knees quite a bit. (But hey, it was a cool section of the show). My point being: sit and spin > sitting in a chair. I need to go watch BD's show now...

  16. Last summer, I stayed at the Omni Hotel, which is within walking distance of the dome. However, it is pretty expensive per a night (around $200). It is beautiful, comfy beds, right by the CNN Center, across the street from the park. Good stuff.
  17. *bump for June 28th scores (does not include Stockton yet)*
  18. I didn't see a thread that was keeping track of all the scores yet, so I figured I'd start one. This should give everyone a basic idea of where each corps sits in relation to its competition. I know comparing scores from different shows isn't ideal, but whatever. Here's the latest: World Class Scores- Last Updated June 28 1. Blue Devil 81.65 2. Santa Clara Vanguard 79.75 3. 19. For the Atlanta show last summer, I took my grandparents and two female cousins (17 and 15). My grandma and cousins really liked it. They dont have much of a musical background and had never seen drum corps before. Their top picks were Phantom, Crown, Bluecoats, Blue Stars, and Cavaliers. My grandma particularly liked Bloo. The younger cousin, who has no musical background, actually really liked BK. They didn't like The Cadets or Blue Devils. My grandpa didn't care for it much, but my grandma fell in love with it. We would go back again this year if possible but we already have another vacation planned.
  20. Oh, of course! Haha. Nothing against them, I really love PR, but something about last year just did NOT click with me for some reason. I tried, I really tried to like it but it...just...wouldn't...happen.
