Try the mexican restaurants at olvera st. they are pretty authentic. It's a tourist area across the street from the main entrance of union station. A quick 15 minute ride from pasadena on the gold line subway. Also, 1 block east is phillipe, where the french dip sandwich was invented. Awesome.

Laguna Beach is awesome. It's an artist colony. About an hour south of Pasadena (non rush hour). Take Laguna Canyon road (route 133 south) off the 405 or the 5 freeways. My favorite place of all the socal beaches is Heisler park. Just north of main beach in Laguna. Incredible scenery, up on the clifts and down on the beach. This is a real california beach, not bulldozed sand. People pose in an amphitheater to imitate famous paintings and sculptures. It's unbelievable. Bring binoculars to see that they are really breathing. About 2 hours long. It runs every night and is sold out every night. You CAN get tix if you hang out in front of the box office about an hour before show time(dark). The box office gets turned back tix also. Looks like this is the cadets year. Usually it seems that if they had an extra week at the end of the season to clean, they'd win. They are already there this year. About 2 or 3 weeks ahead of schedule. What happened?

Cavies have a really nice drill. Varied and interesting. But, this type of show will never win dci again. Too many melodies that the average fan recognizes and actually likes. Too "unsophisticated". Too "old school". Too bad.

bd has such a simplistic drill. it gets old after about the 73rd curly cue.

Cadets are marching extremely well. If they are this clean 3 weeks before finals, I can see this show winning.

Absolutely. The microphone placement wasn't very good. A lot of the Academy's horn parts could barely be heard vs. in person.

Yes, don't forget to keep your earthquake supplies with you at all times around pasdena. Water, food for 2 or 3 days, first aid kit, etc. You might have to spend 2 or 3 days in the rose bowl, if we get a good one. kidding (kinda).

Thanks for the info. What a horrible location. Over 100 every day in August, smog, a terrible long drive thru very heavy traffic to the stadium. Who is researching these locations?

21,000? The rosebowl's restroom capacity is about that much. It holds 102,000 total. 30 to 40k wouldn't surprise me for 2007 finals. Going to be very interesting. Maybe finals should rotate between L.A. and S.F. every few years?
