  1. That's the rumor, word's been floating around of a surprise ending from several BD sources.
  2. Why would anyone throw their own medal? Who would risk losing it?
  3. Care to describe what they "pulled on Phantom" in 08? I was there right by the sidelines, and I didn't see anything inappropriate. I do recall some Cavie's committing seppuku during the score announcements, but I think that was more in jest to their own score than Phantom's win.
  4. I'll have to rewatch it, but I don't remember the music being as compelling/difficult as this year's, nor do I remember the drill being harder (though it was impeccably clean). I can't say I got to watch it live, though, since 2003 was my first year watching drum corps (coincidentally, the first show I ever saw was a BD/Cavies showdown).
  5. I think that Mad World would beat Frameworks, and Through a Glass Darkly would curbstomp it, personally. And I love me some early 2000's Cavies ('04 being one of my favorite shows this decade). Being a BD fan, I have to qualify this post by saying I loved Mad World as well, even if some of the Marine Corps references felt a tiny bit forced. Also, many of the corps members would've been disqualified on the pushups in a PT test!
  6. Well, he was complaining about BD winning the title again, and that Cavies would be a refreshing change. I was just pointing out how not long ago BD was the refreshing change to the Cavies' constant title years. I'm a BD fan, so I'm quite familiar with their record-breaking success in DCI, just pointing out a flaw in logic.
  7. Yeah, the BD soloists that looked mic'd were standing near the recording mics, not something for amplification. I imagine the same thing occurred for several corps.
  8. You know, even if BD wins this year, that'll be one less time than Cavies since 2000, right?
  9. BD's show is ridiculously difficulty. Not that Cavie's don't have a monster of a show as well.
  10. Troopers, '08. I saw on DCP around the beginning of July that they had a lead trumpet hole (I think TerriTrooper or someone similarly named posted it), then met up with them in Kansas and hopped on the bus. I had pretty much no idea what to expect since it was my first and only drum corps experience since I went to basic training (National Guard Band) for my age out year. I always wanted to march BD, but I really enjoyed my time with the Troopers, and I'm extremely thankful they gave me the opportunity to perform with them.
  11. Yeah, I only got to see Quarters, but if BD is scoring a 98, I'd have 2nd place no higher than a 96. Of course, one caveat is that I'm awful at judging dirtiness of drums at that high a level. They all just seem great to me at that point (brass guy).
  12. Yep, I had a sleeping bag and flat pillow for my corps bed. Wasn't even aware that inflatable beds were used so often (I joined the corps mid season to filla lead trumpet hole).
  13. Blue Devils, and to contrast the gentleman two posts above me, while I think the Cavies have a fine and impressive show this year (really enjoyed it), the Blue Devils have an insane package both musically and visually, have easily the most talented hornline, one of the most unique and exposed shows in a long time, and to top it all off, they're performing it at a level that I think is higher above the competition than the limited room at the top of score sheets allows for.
  14. Of course! I'm a pretty laid back guy, you know.
  15. In case it wasn't clear, I love both BD and Madison as well. And I think SCV is pretty hot, too.
  16. I disagree with all but two things in this thread. Madison is fantastic this year! And I'm cool with Phantom winning drums.
  17. This thread is funny. You guys are funny. Especially you, Mr. Angry-at-a-Corps-because-another-Corps-got-the-Housing-Site-taken-away-due-to-bad-behavior. Yeah, you.
  18. Well, based on that story it was Blue Stars who flipped the bird. Maybe the school just assumed similar colors meant similar practices?
  19. Plus, you know, the fact that their first choice was to stay at a school, but the school bailed because corps earlier in the year weren't as gracious of guests as they should've been, and it's more of a hinderance due to travel times and logistics for rehearsal. This isn't really to big a deal in regards to their finals performance, and if anything it's a disadvantage, as Mr. 84BDSop said.
  20. Is the G7 thing official? Cause I haven't been paying attention to it at all. I actually don't even know if BD and Cavs will meet at the BA show (though I hope they do, since it's only two hours away from me), but what I just described was a recreation of the first DCI show I ever saw.
  21. Everyone connected to Star in some fashion that I met with the Troopers in 2008 was phenomenal, so I can only imagine how great it was to have that entire staff working together. I even got to have a chat with Jim Prime when it got closer to finals, really cool guy.
  22. 2011, Cavaliers defeat the Devils at a small show in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to end their 2.5 season undefeated streak. The Devils will go on to win finals, fueled by their defeat in the first head to head with the Cavs. Just like one of my favorite years of Drum Corp.
