  1. I didn't hear the score we recieved at 1996 finals. I remember the hornline going bonkers behind me. The drumline was motionless, due to countless hours of "indoctrination". I wanted to "jump out of my cowboy boots", but didn't. I still hadn't heard the score and asked Mickey Petrone's wife what our score was. I'm kinda proud of the way the line handled things, that night.
  2. That's cool. I am enjoying reading about the seasons of the corps when I was a spectator and not a member.
  3. I'm just hoping we get to 1991 through 1996 before I end up in a nursing home.
  4. As much as I'd personally like to see a move to the Midwest, I don't think the fan support or knowlege of DCA is at a level that would support a championship finals. Certainly, people from my area of the country are learning about DCA. This is absolutely vital to the success of Cincinnati Tradition, as they grow their corps. What we in Cincinnati call the "Tri-State", has a large contingent of DCI ageouts. The number of DCA participants from this area who commuted to compete in DCA increased, in the 80's and 90's. I think it's going to be a few more years before this region can host a finals event. Now a REGIONAL contest is certainly a logical step in developing an audience base here. Cincinnati sits right in the middle of three regions of DCA. Most commutes are 6 to 8 hours in any direction, to get to a DCA show or member corps. Before a regional show is even possible, I think Cincinnati Tradition has to continue it's current growth and become a consistant, competative corps. To do THAT, the corps must convert the DCI ageouts in the area, to DCA competitors. It's not a daunting task, but it will take some time. In other words, as the Corps grows, so will the fan base that we require in order to support a regional or finals bid. I would imagine the same requirements apply to the South and Central DCA corps, as well. Just my take on the subject.
  5. And it was apparent to a fan in the stands from Cincinnati, Ohio. I realized I was watching and listening to a new kind of drumcorps.
  6. Congratulations! Best wishes for a successful season and many more to follow, Holly!
  7. "Happy Endings", you say? Well... I have a story that can't be told here. Happened oh, 40 years ago... In a faraway land of rice paddys, when I was 20 years old. I'm 60 now, so do the math to figure out the Country where the story took place.
  8. Called "Trades and Industry" (T&I) In these parts. I took auto body repair. But back to the Guessing and clues.
  9. Okay: Peppermint patty> Hershey> not the corps, the company> YORK. York Peppermint patty, made by the Hershey chocolate company. York White Roses. That's my guess.
  10. Peppermint patty? Well, Hershey has something to do with it.
  11. As I am having the Cincinnati corps do, at every rehearsal. They play and march in the helmets to get used to them. It just made sense to me, to have them do so. And I had the support staff drill some holes in the tops of the helmets to let some air in, because they are black with black plumes.
  12. Well...... I offered a clue: "PEPPERMINT PATTY". Does this work with the corps name?
  13. After two weeks of interesting weather patterns that featured first, a tornado along with baseball sized hail, then a few days later: snow, Cincinnati Tradition enjoyed a weekend of spring weather with a temperature of 75 degrees! This was the corps first rehearsal weekend, outdoors. Show coordinator Larry Tinnerman reports that the corps is on scedule with the 2012 show music. There are just two openings remaining in the horn line. (one soprano and one baritone) Thanks to a great team of volunteers, the corps will be wearing new uniforms for 2012. C.T. wishes to thank the Steel City Ambassadors for their assistance and generosity in providing them with new headgear, at an affordable price! Thanks also to the Racine Kilties, who gave the corps a good deal on three mallet instruments. Further development of the front ensemble is ongoing, with the purchase of three marimbas and two vibraphones, from the Atlanta Corvets. A big thank you to David Stollberg for his assistance! The support staff of the corps (newly augumented), features a cook staff, an R.N. and new for 2012, on site child care during rehearsals! The drumline and front ensemble are both full at this time. The colorguard would like to have two more members. Interested parties should visit the corps website as quickly as possible, to secure one of the few remaining spots. Cincinnati Tradition looks forward to an exciting season of growth, as they prepare for the DCA championship weekend in Maryland.
  14. And a rubber chicken! The only "bird" to fly that night..... Briefly.
  15. I don't know all that much about judging, nor do I really want to. But a friend of mine once said: "You have to get the judges that favor what YOU are doing, on the panel". That seems almost too simple an explanation, to me.
  16. Dont! I went 9 years ago when I played in Cleveland. What to do on a Saturday afternoon in Cleveland? Go to the rock and roll hall of fame... Yeah right! They had BRITNEY SPEARS stage costume(s) on display!! and the Backstreet Boys, as well. I wanted my money back.
  17. I gotta clue about the clue! (best I can do today!)
  18. O.T. Alert! I just recieved my "Golden Buckeye" card in the mail, from the "Ohio Dept. of Aging". It's now official. I am an old pharte. Now even though I am an official oldster, I don't have a clue who this guy is. I'd say the photo was taken in the 60's.
  19. I am learning this lesson, FIRST HAND. Alot more work than I expected.
  20. Rest in peace, Ron. Condolences to the Family, the Westshoremen and The Caballeros.
