  1. It would be the end to all smaller corps. Personally I think 150 is a very good maximum.
  2. A corps i marched with in DCA intentionally cut down the dynasty 4/4 leadpipes by about 3 inches... it honestly makes the horn so much better balanced without really effecting the pitch. I think dynasty needs to relook into their tuba designs. there are alot of easily fixable flaws.
  3. Got to be instructed by most of them in 07, and must say, they are great at what they do... I love Ian and Adam!
  4. No ones opinion is correct here on DCP... why would you think a silly thing like that?
  5. No. considering in this community, one can choose to not represent a corps. What that poster did was wrong, and I know I'm not the only one that thinks that. The only reason that most DCI marchers don't associate themselves with their corps is because ignorant people will automatically assume thats what their corps believes. All I wanted to say with my original post is that that particular section of BD's show looked to me to be very dirty, and was wondering what happened there.
  6. Perhaps this poster should realize I don't care that BD won... just pointing something out with my original post, and was wondering if anyone thought that what had happened there was a mistake by the marchers or the design team... great they intentionally marched on opposite feet, so what your saying is that I can have a corps intentionally play badly , and march badly (a.k.a. against the guidelines that most people would seem universal... like such as staying in step?), and as long as I make it seem intentional, I'll win dci? Sounds good.
  7. Nasty Much? congrats you have a piece of jewlry... guess what I'll give you a ring for best holloween greeting of the year, and it doesn't mean you deserve it.
  8. Yes, I do know a thing or two about marching, and the basic fact whether people want to admit it is that Blue Devils, however good of a show they had, were very dirty that night, and in my opinion, no they didn't deserve the title (between high percussion, and high brass, I thought they did not deserve those) however Im not starting a petition to change anything, I'm just pointing out that their hornline at one point has members 1. marching on the opposite foot as everyone else, and 2. phasing pretty badly when they were 2nd over in visual performance. I would ask anyone to look at the cadets video (if you haters can stand the fact that omg they actually converse in their show) and tell me one time they are marching on out of step from one another, or even phasing, or missing a step off completely... really cadets should have gotten blue devils in visual, because anyone who knows anything about marching can watch those shows and see that cadets not only had a higher demand, but a higher performance level... and for those who don't think I know what I'm talking about, guess what? I do. I really wish DCI would get rid of the politics and just give it to the KIDS marching in this activity straight. I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that the fact the championships were in cali had something to do with both BD, and SCV doing extremely well in finals... P.S. don't even think your going to tell me that I don't like BD, because I love that organization... Just don't think they deserve to be a high up as they are right now...
  9. If thats how it was supposed to be, then how come at the end of the block their all back in step... doesnt make since... and so what your saying is that they intended on being out of step? now thats a little absurd...
  10. Ok, so I was watching the 2007 finals DVD, and I'm not sure if this was brought up before, but the 2007 world champs seemed to have a bit of a problem staying in step. I may not know everything about marching, but I know a bit, and the basic fundamental to marching is staying in step is it not? Near the end of their show where they build the brass block, as the second line comes in, and so on and so forth you can tell especially with the stripe down their pants that a few members are off step... I'm not sure if this is intended, but it comes of looking extremely dirty, and when you combine that with the whole ESPN shows a certain member forgetting to step off, I am shocked that the judges can even consider giving blue devils a 19.2 in visual, second only to the near perfect cavaliers. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.
  11. My educated ears really liked buccs (once again, lol), statesmen (video sucked, but the audio made up for it, lol), and very surprisingly crusaders (young line, looks like could be a DCI line... plays as clean too... bassline is only realy problem IMO)
  12. Well this past summer, the corps I marched with was using the Dynasty 4/4, but because we upgraded to 12 tubas, dynasty sent us 2 more 5/4 (blue devils 2007 horns woot! :) lol ). I personally got to play one of the 5/4 and have been marching with the 4/4 the past 3 years. The only problem to me was the extra 5 pounds, lol. Personally, ive played kanstul, king, yamaha, and both dynastys now, and In order from best to worst I would say 1. King (newest model) 2. Dynasty 5/4 3. Kanstul 4. Dynasty 4/4 5. Yamaha I only place yamaha so low because it doesnt feel like a tuba, and the sound isnt as rich as the others. I have yet to play the new Jupiter model. Looks weird, and Ive heard there are alot of tuning problems. I dont know why most top corps don't use king, because IMO king are the best way to go for a dark, rich sound.
  13. haha... great video! Well, I agree with what the tuba player did. Although it was harsh, he really didn't have much time to react... these days, corps members will just stop you with your hand and politely ask you to go around. The tuba player didn't have the time to do that... The kid was fine, and I'm sure he was more embarrassed than physically hurt.
  14. Yeah, they were by far the loudest corps I've ever heard.
  15. Actually, the first year I marched DCI, was because I saw that a corps had a hole right before tour, and a week later, I was learning their drill. Oh yeah, I saw that announcement here.
  16. I believe my corps is full (although I'm restricted from telling you my corps, lol... sucks, don't it?) However, if your on the fence, I would say join any corps, and you won't regret it. I've got some friends in pioneer, so I would say go there. Even the lower WC corps need members, and it's definitely a place to start, if not just become part of a family.
  17. Highly doubt. And yes, would be loud, but so hard to tune and clean.
  18. Sounds kinda like Glassmens show this year... Should be interesting...
  19. I would really like to hear more about cru and brigs performances. From what I've heard theres quite a competition there.
  20. Yup, I have the same problem. Maybe I'll think twice before buying any more merch from DCI.
  21. Anyone know if gmen played any show music, or just the pines of rome? Also, how did the concert go?
  22. I can tell you right now, probably both Rochester corps will have great years. Naturally, Statesmen have their anniversary, and I've heard Cru... WOW. Cru is probably going to be the biggest surprise of the summer. Their young drumline got even better with some nice additions, and if you thought their hornline improved last year, watch out! They have a nice sized line, and everyone can play. I've heard some corps (Renegades, Brigs, etc...) are struggling for numbers, so I dunno about what to expect there. I think Cabs are going to have another strong year, and I'm sure Buccs will be at least top 3. My money is for: 1. Cabs 2. Statesmen 3. Buccs 4. MBI 5. Bush 6. Cru 7. Hurcs 8. Brigs 9. CV 10. Gades/ Kilts/ ???
