  1. James, Not only is the music awesome, but I can definetly hear this as being used in a drum corps show sometime. It is simply awesome. Also, when I am done marching drum corps, my biggest goal is to become a composer for movie scores, so it is really inspiring to see somebody so involved with the activity doing something like this. I am really looking forward to seeing the movie now, and hearing SCVC when I can sometime this summer. Thanks, Matt
  2. Does it make a difference in content if you subscribe through a corps' webstie rather than through DCI. Is there any difference at all?
  3. In show solo, PR 2007 FTW. I&E solo, 1989 PR Bari soloist. If you haven't seen the 89 I&E one, YouTube it. It is simply incredible. Carnival of Venice. Wow.
  4. No problem. I'm very excited to be performing in the Rose Bowl, especialy after being there for finals watching from the spectator POV, so I think it will be cool to perform for a big crowd there. I can't wait!
  5. These are called "Pre-Shows" (i.e. Cavies trumpet solo and beginning pit features in SCV and BD's shows from last year). They aren't so much warm-ups as they are a way to set a mood or tone to the show. I've heard some of the old school DCI'ers I know say they don't really care for them, but I definitely agree that if you have the right coordination with the announcer, it can be a cool effect.
  6. I thought it started with the 1812 when the whole corps threw up toilet paper. And I think what people are throwing is still tp, but I could be wrong.
  7. Well being a residnt of SoCal, I know that The Rose Bowl 4th of July Fireworks show is one of the best you pay money for. I don't know the numer of people who go each year, but I know its a lot. You add those people to the DCI Fans, and I'm guessing that the audience will wrap around to the backside. I was acutally talking about this with my friends at camp last night, because we weren't sure how the non-DCI'ers would react to the corps. i.e. talking during corps performances, booing, "what the heck is this" kinda thing. Hopefully this is some good exposure for DCI though and none of those will happen. Like I said, I am still very excited.
  8. 4th of July Show Info Yes, it is still happening. I'm very excited.
  9. Pacific Crest has openings in the colorguard for 2008. www.pacific-crest.org
  10. Check the World Class forums. MANY MANY threads about 2008 Corps show announcements. Also, check www.corpsreps.com.
  11. My friend and I are spliting the costs so we can each get a DVD. He chose 1999, and I choose 2003. Both AWESOME years! Inventions for a New Millenium and Harmonic Journey FTW! EDIT: I went to place my order for the 2003 DVD, and then realized that it was only for the legacy set, 74-99. Sad day. So we changed our choices. I chose 1997 and he chose 1986.
  12. So, I was reading the "Gearing Up" article in this months DCI Magazine, and it made me think about what to bring on tour this year. I know we have many threads that help with what to bring and what not to bring, but I don't think anybody has ever said what specific brand of product X they like better than others. Have you tried one brand of a product, then tried a different one and found it works better? (Example: Aerobed vs. Therm-A-Rest). Post the best brand names of air beds, pillows, towels, space savers, and anything else that you think CMM's should bring on tour with them here! EDIT: Typos
  13. 85 Vanguard for me... All hail the changing of the pants!!!! HM: Cavies 03, the first Drum Corps show I ever saw
  14. I just watched 97 Scouts for the first time. WOW. I'm not changing my vote. But WOW. Where is the guy with that picture in his signature. I never understood that pic until now. WOW.
  15. How bout the LA Collesium? It seats 68,000 comfortably, and has a reported 92,000 for USC games. Not too much of a possibility due to the housing/traffic/gas issues, but still a REALLY cool stadium. I wonder what drum corps would sound like in there...
  16. This is a hard one. For me its between 92 SCV, 04 Crown, and 07 Bloo. Final Answer: 07 Bluecoats
  17. On the topic of bringing it back west, not just to Cali... What about Autzen Stadium in Orgeon? It seats 54,000. Now granted there isn't much to do in Eugene (the scenery and weather would be great though), but Portland is about an hour and a half away. Sounds kinda close to the Indy-Bloomington thing we've got going on this year. Also, Autzen Stadium has the record for the loudest crowd noise levels due to the acoustics. I wonder what a 120+ db drumcorps would sound like in that stadium. The only major flaw I can think of is the fact that the airport in Eugene has only 2 gates, and you can only fly in by propeller plane. I guess that would be kinda of a problem trying to accommodate 30,000+ people by prop planes and 2 gates... Oh well. Go DUCKS! EDIT: Picture
  18. Went down the checklist between Colts 07 and VK 92. Pure entertainment factor won it for me. 92 VK
