  1. It sounds bitter, but when BAC does a little bit more than one camp, a little recruiting (many of those recruited have parents who marched there), and fundraising here, they'll be a full-fledged New England corps. Not to say I don't love them, because I absolutely do. I think Open Class is going to be a surprise, as usual. Either way, I can't wait for the season to begin!
  2. Teal couldn't have placed higher with the way their achievement scores fell and effected their content scores. If they were hands down the cleanest Open Class corps year after year, it would be a crime for them not to go WC right this second and everyone could agree on that, despite lack of appreciation for electronics/vocals/guitars. Unfortunately for them, that simply isn't the case.
  3. Friends of mine pointed out that it looks like WGI finals... Some sort of Corp. tie in, maybe?
  4. Last night, they said they wouldn't be opening the roof for anyone because the field absolutely can not get wet, and it wouldn't be fair for some corps to perform with it open, and some to perform with it closed. It might effect scoring and all that. Oh, and they cited fan comfort, but we know that's a lie.
  5. I marched Open Class and never regretted a single moment of it. You're still able to work a day job and practice at night, and have more of a chance of coming back to that job after tour. If you're heading off to college, this might be one less thing you have to worry about. It can get a little rough, but the feel of performing doesn't change. You're still busting your butt for a great show - shame on your director for knocking on Open Class! ^_~ It might be better for your knee, too. Building strength and getting a little more time to rest it than you would on a full-out, World Class tour. Just some things to think about. Good luck with where ever you decide to march!
  6. Legends 81.0 ...Sorry! Thought I'd replied fast enough. ^_~
  7. I'm pretty sure they only broadcast the top 15 last year, too. They did clips of the bottom, I thought, but I could be mistaken. Waiting for scores is getting to be ridiculous... I have to go teach HS guard soon, and this is all I'll be thinking about! Bad instructor, bad! ^_^
  8. Les Stentors 68.000 Spirit of Newark/New Jersey 65.450
  9. Thanks! I guess I can stop hitting the refresh button on the score page... ;-D
  10. I hope all the corps packed their A games on the trucks before rolling out for tour... >=D *sigh* I just LOVE Open Class finals week.
  11. Did any of the corps have that in mind? ^_~
  12. Quick weather update for Beverly.... Scattered thunderstorms between 5 pm and 10 pm. But what do those weather guys know, anyway? ;-D *whistle* ...Button up your overcoat... I'll be there with you all praying for some kind of break in the nastiness.
  13. The comment about being "flowier" means you really may not have been cut because of your size. I have a friend who auditioned for Phantom in '05 and was cut because she wasn't "fluid" enough for movement - and this is a girl who had been spinning and dancing since she was three years old, and is a size four. The rest of us were absolutely floored (and teased her about it), but she didn't have the stylistic stuff they were looking for. ..But it looks like you've found a corps that is into your style, so congrats! =D
  14. Nashua Telegraph.com: Spartans: Band Will Play On The link to January 14th's article.
  15. The coach line cost the organization more money than it brought in, especially with gas prices. My marching band (UML) has used their buses for trips, and there has yet to be a year where the bus doesn't break down on the trip back from Conn. I'm still confused as to why we don't use another coach line...
  16. I spoke to a member in the pitt yesterday who said the group was told at the last camp they would still have a season... But, from an outsider's perspective, I don't see how that's possible. The article makes it seem like things are pretty dire (especially the part about removing the *entire* Board), so maybe it's more up-to-date than the information that the corps members have been given so far. It's really, really sad to see another NE corps disappear, if they are folding.
  17. The Age-Out ceremony was a big deal to me and my friends. We marched for years and watched our friends being recognized for the time they had spent marching, and it was like a second high school graduation to us. It was really, really sad when it was me at the ceremony. Based solely on the emotional aspect, one of my friends said changing the age-out (or removing the age out, in this case) would be kind of like a big "Syke!! JKLOL" to all of those people who have already aged out and set into the mentality of not being able to march our beloved-DCI corps again. It's sort of cruel.
