So I'm starting to think that somehow a storm's gonna go through, and break the glass at LOS. Then all of championships will have to be cancelled because of this relentless storm! Not really, but it sure is how this season has been going.

Crazy storm. After reading some on here for a bit, I decided to leave the show. Get out of there before the crowd, and before the rain starts dumping (which it did a few minutes after leaving). Saw a very very defined lightning bolt it the ground, followed by a bright blue light. It hit a transformer! My weather app (which always crashes and almost NEVER works unless it's sunny) said that it's a dangerous storm and everyone should stay inside. Possible quarter sized hail and 60mph winds. Haven't seen hail or any wind, but who knows if that'll happen.

I'll give $50 to whoever guesses the right champion!

They have definitely gotten a LOT better over the course of the season, I'll give them that.

Honestly, I've been surprised Vanguard has been beating coats. But I guess it's because I don't really pay too much attention to guard. So to me, Bluecoats seem much stronger. They could even beat Phantom, this being their homeshow, but who knows. It'll be exciting to watch (which I am DOING!!)

The top three this year is the best battle I've heard of in the activity. Especially between the Cadets and Blue Devils. More than one show where they're less than a tenth of a point away from eachother, a tie, and the season's not even over yet. I'm really excited to see how this pans out over finals week. It's closer now than it was in '08, but '08 ended up being absolutely amazing just because Phantom did the unexpected. Everyone's expecting it to be close this weekend, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of them slipped. And Blue Devils don't usually slip. I would love to see The Cadets win though.

I think it depends on how many corps have already gone. At Minneapolis last year, they posted scores but a lot of the corps didn't get to go on, because of a tornado warning. Let me know if I'm wrong though.

According to the radar, most of the rain has moved East. There's still one strip that will move through in the next few hours, but I don't think it'll be long enough to cancel the show. The show will probably be delayed though. And who knows how wet the field is. Looking outside it looks like it's stopped raining, but only within the past 10 minutes. Still very wet out there.

It's still really raining here in Allentown. Hopefully it's getting it out of it's system so it can be all dry tonight. Hopefully. How is the lineup for quarters determined if this show is cancelled?

I just put super glue all over your seat! And regarding Bluecoats colorguard, they've had a huge amount of changes lately. That could be the reasoning for the lower scores.

Haha. Very true. Luckily I am marching age. Good for me! But I'm still a bad person. Although Boston's show in '09 was actually really hot... err.. cool!

I believe whoever's hosting the show is responsible for finding the housing, but if the corps has any preferances or ideas, they can by all means go with them. Since it's finals week, you'd probably say DCI is the host, so I would say it's their responsibility. But it's not their fault. A housing site could have cancelled out, and they aren't exactly the easiest things to come by. I always hear corps preaching to their members that they need to take good care of the housing site, and "leave it better than we found it", in order to insure them being okay with housing a corps the following years.

Nope. They didn't last year either. Doesn't make sense, does it? Maybe there's not a place for them to sleep or eat though.

Honestly I think it's because their screamers can't play as loud as Scott Dean or Gio or other past BD screamers.

Hopefully for some reason Boston's colorguard from '09 are there. I'm a POS.

I remember that in '08 there were tiebreaker rules. I don't know if Phantom and BD would have tied (very possible), but I believe that ties can happen since '09 or '10 again. I believe it was '09. I also believe that they stopped allowing ties in 2001 or 2002 because of the high number of ties from the previous years (1996, 1999, 2000)

It doesn't sound mic'd to me. And he's pretty far away from the pit. But I guess I could be wrong. Not really sure if you're being sarcastic, but obviously they're mic'ing the screaming solos. They do it so they can be heard over the hornline that's playing loud behind them.

They wouldn't fake it when a judge could stand right there. At least I don't think so. If you watch drum cam episode 2 on the fan network, it'll show a short snippet of them playing upside down from a drum cam. Ironically it's still kind of hard to tell, because there's no audio for it. My suspicion is that because they're playing upside down, the stick doesn't stay as close to the head as long as it normally would (even if it is fractions of a second).

Wow. Blame for "ruining" the activity is really going in all different directions. Ya know? I think it's your fault for ruining DCI.

How does that relate to BD?

Probably without. The only solos that are mic'd are the screaming/lip trilling solos. I don't really describe those as having a "great sound". Just "awesome".

I'd say most corps are having more relaxed rehearsals now. I've been to a lot of corps rehearsals. Bluecoats also seem to be relaxed during rehearsals. I personally like it that way. Obviously corps make it work, and it doesn't negatively affect them. Blue Devils seem to get a lot of time off too, and long water breaks. But they make it work. SCV also seems pretty relaxed nowadays. I haven't seen Phantom or Cadets rehearse before, but I'd imagine that they're still pretty hardcore. Not sure about Crown at all.
