Totally in agreement.About mid way through I was nodding off. I got there early tonight because I wanted to see Madison Scouts and Spirit.Madison did it for me Spirit did not.

Tonight I agree.Several weeks ago the 1st part of the show was a tad bit heavier on Narration but then again one of the mics were malfunctioning tonight. Imagine if one of the top 3 corps were using narration and they had a mic problem?That could knock them out of contention

Too long and Too dark yes on both counts. Had it been short like a PSA I would not have given it a second thought.

Last year they had what I consider a horrible staff.This year they have a great staff and do worse. I just don't get what is going on down south.

I agree with much of your post.BD just leaves me flat musically. Back on topic. Phantom was majorly dirty tonight especially in the first 3 min of the show.There were interval problems galore. I think Cavies have the show to win it with if they can manage to clean and have a clean run.Phantom if they clean up they are going to be champs. BD still comes in 3rd.

My feelings are that we have enough homeless,suffering,starving and aids infected kids over here.Why not do a whole segment on putting our kids here in the US in drum corps? Really I do feel bad for these kids way of life and I can understand why this group would want tackle the problems over there but the segment was way too political and the timing of it was horrible.Perhaps if they would have shown it earlier in the evening or at intermission people could have decided if they wanted to watch that or go get a hot dog.The audience was buzzing about scores and corps when the segment went on then everything just went to Dull and dud! I just hate if forced on me thats all.

My point exactly.If I want that sort of stuff I will get the Oprah channel.

I have no clue but tonight's show was the first time I could see them up close this season.Their lips were clearly not moving to the same words as the narrators.In a couple of cases not at all.Anyone know why would they have separate Narrators for this?

What did everyone think about the judges comments after the show? I think they were trying to dance around a few issues mainly why more judges had been added this year. I think one judge even said the reason the corps voted them in was because they did not want one judge having control over finals.

I second the motion to cut all of the Narration from the Cadets show.Tonights show really made no sense with only half the story being told. I think the show could work without it. What does everyone else think?

The Bluecoats show was better tonight than the last time I saw them.The mic I think hurt the show a bit tonight..Bluecoats did a good job this year balancing the narration vs visual.

My predictions Open Finals: Bucs - Of course Cabs-they are just that good. ES- anniversary helps them and they are just that good. Hurcs -Only place they could place.Not working their way up the ladder like people think. MBI - Just can't hack getting any higher. Brigs - Boring Renegades - Will never make it up the ladder any higher. CV - better than ever but still not up the ladder far enough.Give them another 10 years. Bush - Horrible this year but will make it because of who they are. Kilties-Look who is fronting them.Enough Said. ----- Cru-Just barley ahead of MCL.Both have a lot of work to do. MCL-Just behind Cru or possibly overtaken by Aliance or Dream

I got as much sympathy for kids as the next guy but I don't appectiate them throwing that stuff in my face after paying $18 bucks for a ticket.Its one thing if they would have showed it during intermission but they showed it while we were waiting for scores.I would have much preferred to hear more of the commentary. Boo hiss DCI.

I am in the same court as you.I hope what he means by that is he is going to be less innovative and be more drum and bugle corps. Last years Cadets show would have been the top DCI show ever had they left the narration out of it.That horn line had some great things going for it. I do feel like Hopkins was taking the blame for his mistakes this year and not passing them off to the kids.I thought by point blank saying no the show was not working for them was a mistake.I think what he should have said is that we have made some mistakes along the way and are trying our best to fix them this week.Its like he has just given up on the season.

Leaving the theater tonight I came away with the impression that the flashbacks to the corps they were showing was that the new kids on the block cannot play up to the volume level of those old corps.You could tell a huge difference in volume when they would cut back to the old school clips. What I would not give to have those days back.

First time seeing thier show this season.I was knocked out by it.Great show.I hope to see them at finals.

What happened to the little girl at the end?Did she get DQ or did she have to go back to school this week?

Spirit - They need to go back to the drawing board.Its too late nevermind Colts - GREAT show! Really enjoyed it. Madison Scouts - Loved this show too.I thought they were miles ahead of Crossmen and Glassmen. Crossmen - Blah Glassmen - Blah Blue Stars - Ok show.Not much to rave about.They were refreshing after seeing Crossmen and Glassme Blue Knights - Better than years past.Still kind of a dud. Boston - I hated it.Period Cadets- As a cadets fan this show left me flat even without the narration. Phantom -Phantom looked really dirty early in the show.I mean really dirty.Intervals and visuals all over the place.Played their rear end off though. Crown - What a great Season.There was a reason they were in third coming into tonight.They should have stayed in third. CAvaliers - Great show and well done.STill need to clean it up and they will be champions this year.By far one of the best visual shows this year. Blue Devils - Champion?Not tonight and not this year.This is the second time I have seen them this season.Left me flat both times.Drill is pretty cool but nothing seems to meld between songs.A good 3rd place corps at best.. Hoping Phantom will move up to 2nd come Saturday.... or pull out a win. : )

The crowd I was at went nuts for Carolina Crown and Phantom. Everyone gave the golf clap for Cavies and the Blue Devils which I thought strange. Carolina Crown sure did crank out the volume.I think they were by far the loudest corps of the night.I would have put them #1 in music effect.

If you were in the theater Hopkins was asked point blank if he thought this show was working or not.Hopkins said no.He wish he had done some things different. I am a cadets fan and have a hard time figuring out this show.And what happened to the little girl that would come up and hug Mrs Jones?Was she cut? The last half of the show they cut out almost all the narration. Speaking of narration it looks like the Bluecoats mic was malfunctioning the first part of the show.
