  1. It's obvious someone cared or there wouldn't have been an award given and we wouldn't be wasting our time on this thread
  2. No!!!!! But thanks for making it really clear for anyone that just wants to stir things up
  3. Let's pick this apart for the slow witted. It's obvious by your reply to dcabaritone that you had no clue what he was trying to get across. If there was an emoticon for something going over ones head, I would end this reply with it.
  4. I'm sorry this wasn't spelled out so you could understand or anyone slower. Present corps involvement was implied and it's been a while since I represented anyone. To you oh classy one.
  5. You know, what gets me are people that come on here and say "These are my personal beliefs and do not reflect my corps blah blah blah..." Maybe you shouldn't sign in BIG BOLD letters your corps name because it does reflect the corps you are associated with My pick would be David Bruni for best drum major but that's all right because that award is usually the booby prize.
  6. Doesn't really matter with 2 weeks left both these corps will be fighting for 7 th and 8th. My final rankings are Bucs(drums, horns, vis) Hurcs (guard) Minn. Brass(drum major) Statesmen(5th horns) Cabs(4th horns) Renegades(6th across the board except drums 8th) Bush(6th drums) brigs(horns 10)(drums tie for 7th) Alliance(7th drums) Corps vets(8th guard) my predictions for corps placement has been 98% for the past 7 years good luck to all and prove me wrong.Captions were an added bonus this year.
  7. Sorry this took so long but all this really is a review of the victory concert proceeding the show. Before I make any comments, I would like to give props to Kingston on their victory and the rest of the A class corps on strong performances. OK now that is out of the way..." PROMENADE" is the key word here tonight. After tonight I will never listen to this song again..."Harsh" maybe. I never knew there were so many ways to play a song badly. Although a good concept program wise, the drums and guard seem to be the only consistent thing about this program. Sorry if I am being too straight here but WOW you would think standing still would make things better. Sadly me thinks the Brigs horns wont be making finals this year. The corps with strong guard, visual and percussion will take 8th this year. P.S. Mussorgsky called, "Promenade" is not for sale anymore LOL
  8. So how does it work again? No foul language, negative comments, or reviews that might hurt someone's feelings. Just happy, fluffy white clouds where nobody dislikes anybody and everyone who performed sounded amazing last night? haha Welcome to fantasy island. There definitely is a thin line here...here's praying that the moderators see this as nonthreatening...
  9. As of last night Renegades are obviously in the hunt for the top 5...San Francisco Renegades-72.388
  10. Here it is folks, the gospel according to Sal. Firstly, all those that are banking on MBI for the upset need their brains checked. Don't get me wrong, but until MBI attends some more shows in the east, how can they be fairly adjudicated? Seriously folks, who here on this forum really thinks that DCA has any judge that can catch one or two performances of a corps and catch everything in 11 minutes? Enough said because I could write a book about that. 1. Buccs - There is no one better this year. 2. Hurricanes - They don't need to brag after last year. They fixed their mistakes and made the changes. 3. MBI - Refer to above. 4. Cabs - They know what happened last year and they are pi$$ed. Best spot to hope for... 5. Statesmen - Sorry guys. I know your track record but there's lots of good talent in front of you. (Rebuiding year) 6. Bush - Talented members and good organization keeps you in the pack. 7. Renegades - Tired of coming to the East Coast and getting their ###es kicked. New unis and new attitude with great talent pulls you closer to the 5th spot. Might even move up to 6th if Bush lets up at all. 8. Alliance - Forced to open class and ready to take prisoners. Great performance at finals and seem to have the instructional team that is capable of upsets. 9. Crusaders - Saw them at St. Joe's Classic and they seem to have the show and talent to move up in the rankings. 10. Brigs - Rumors in the winter had them going inactive but they seem to be going out with a smaller stronger corp? Due to new arrangers and a new staff I see them falling in ranking but performing well. 11. Corpsvets - Good southern show but don't seem to have it this year. 12. Kilties - Strong tradition but borderline alumni. 13. MCL - Maybe in a couple years...keep working at it. Obviously these are my own opinions and I do not intend to offend/hurt anyone. Best of luck to all corps this year.
  11. Best wishes and a speedy recovery to a good and generous man.
  12. Man??????? I guess if that makes you feel safer
  13. Good, bad, or sugarcoated, this must be the nice way to say it.
  14. So if by signing my name legitimizes things, then call me Bob. Name calling, on the other hand, shows me that the Brigs need a better bully that is a PRESENT member to fight their battles in this forum....the rumors started from within the corps, coming from its own members. I just simply took that information and brought it to the forum because I have a set.
  15. Wooooah there Punky, this not a personal attack against you. Yes I can count to twenty something but 8 contras being half your horn line wouldn't be anything to boast about. I intend no ill wishes for the Brigs but ever since the Dynasty ended don't you think total honesty is in order? I could be the person standing next to you in horn arc or the person coming to watch your rehearsals. Whatever the case may be, my contacts are legit. Why not show pics from every other camp up to date? Probably because the rumors would look to be true...I just hope that the people that came to your last camp stay for the season. We will see at the first show. Oh and Mr Peashey, I don't care who you are. This a PUBLIC forum. I only say what my opinion is, and if that is offensive than click elsewhere.
  16. You know what kills a corps...updating one's website a day or two before the next rehearsal after having a month off. Also, 11-15 person horn lines (which came directly from one of your members). Do not let this guy fool you, fibbing and embellishing will not fill horn lines. Seems as though you need to look at getting some different horn guys or better recruiters to get better numbers because from looking at the top 5 corps, recruiting members does not seem to be an issue. Take a look at the picture of Minnesota Brass' Wednesday night rehearsal with 50+ horns, Cabs St. Patty's Parade had 40+ horns, Statesmen with 40+, Connecticut 40+, Renegades 40+, Corps Vets 40+...I think you can see my point that maybe it's not just the economy that proving to be an issue. Maybe the economy has been hurting the Central New York area for 3-4 years now. (lol) Sorry to be the joy buster, but don't you think a little truth is in order? Just a thought....and my own personal opinion...death of a giant.
  17. I believe in these two years you've mentioned, it wasn't really how good the Brigs were but more of how the rest of the competition from 3 to 10 were. 1997 (tie) and 1998 (2nd) weren't great years in Drum Corps for DCA. 3-10 were average and Brigs had a lot of "new found money". I think that the only competition in those two years were between the Statesmen and the Brigs...and yes Rick Morey, Donny Allen, and Ron Keck were/are all big names in the circuit.
  18. I believe their old P.R. person was a woman named April Min. I'm sure she would have had a handle on this. Just goes to show what happens when you lose good people... In response to NYSkyliner, I couldn't have said it any better myself.
  19. Dude, it's a PUBLIC forum grow some skin and don't take it so personally. It's only DCP! (aka. "The Days of Our Lives") If you're going to start a topic like this get ready for the "bashing" This forum is older than your experience in Drum Corps. Just leave it alone.
  20. You really have little experience with Drum Corps and only two years with the Brigs and now you're talking about glory years and practically dissing them...that's not how it works pal. People are entitled to their opinions and posts on any thread, let alone yours. And trust me, the only reason I'm saying anything is because I do know. I have alumni friends who happen to keep me posted on the progression of this corps. Oh, and by the way, that was a nice video clip on the internet from your last camp. This cone256 is too easy...I'm done.
  21. I had to come back for a minute to clarify something. Part of my intent after the caption started gloating was to imply that maybe the talent level needs to be better if they think the new arrangements are better or even comparable to previous years.I think the smiles from members he was was talking about was that relief because of an easier score .You know the rest.
  22. Well I was going to vote for Brigs...but we already know my opinion on that No but seriously, I'm thinking Cabs will push for the win (very experienced staff and arrangers) If not them then I'd bet on Minnesota or Statesmen.
  23. Obviously this has all been taken out of context because my initial intent was to stop your new arranger from gloating when he has yet to prove anything. I don't ever remember the Brigadiers gloating including their staff and I believe you've had numerous caption heads in the last nine years. And seeing that you are relatively new to the drum corps activity also, to have known only one or maybe two sets of staff in your entire drum corps experience, it takes more than the willingness of staff to help, it takes experience. It seems this corps has been searching for that right mix of staff for a long time to bring back the glory years. My intent to comment on this years staff was to show that "in my opinion", I believe that by going the "cheaper" route, the corps will succumb to what many other corps have fallen victim to which is just existing rather than succeeding. In just looking at the past 3 seasons, your horn line has not done any better than sixth place (drums weren't much better) So by keeping the same staff as you have had in previous 3 years, you are asking for another placement you will not be happy with. In my experience in drum corps, "less is better"...NOT I'm finished with this thread. Like I said, best of luck to the Brigadiers Organization and I wish you much success in your upcoming season.
  24. Pardon me if you read too much into my post or took it too literal because yes I know who Pete Blake is but I remember him being "Pete who?" Christine, I remember who you are as well but I remember you being in your own clique and busy with your boyfriend at the time. Everyone was part of a clique to which there were many. As for Mr.Geoff Jones, I believe you were going through that girlfriend thing in Canada at the time. As for the "dynasty", it's too bad you feel so lightly about that. And it's ok that you don't remember who I am, because if you were my friend at the time, you would know that Sal is my nickname.
