  1. Didn't catch those shows but does anyone know what color socks cadets or reading are wearing?
  2. thanks for the answer to the easiest part.As for topics drifting as you put it 95 percent of the topics turn south. The topic was still having discussion on topic .It seems that I won't get get an exact answer here.Usually when the author requests shutdown the moderator states this at the closing of the thread.me thinks after reading your terms of posting that this was maybe "personal" .By the way I think it was quite a good idea to have the Dcp complaint section all the way at the bottom of the boards to ensure control IMO.thanks Ps the personal remarks were friendly banteringIMO
  3. After the closing of the thread "Cadetss penalties"I started reading the dci threads to justify my new thread. Are the monitors here bias? Are they. the same for for the the DCI threads ? If so I would think most of the threads would be shut down. The above thread mentioned showed no personal attacks against the corps or other posters. As a matter of fact I witnessed three other monitors viewing the thread without action. All that was said was pertaining to thread. I really feel that intelligent conversation falls short to gossip and peoples boring ### opinions that this forum is made up of.Maybe we should move this thread to DCI forum where it seems you can bash anyone and say almost anything with the threat of being shut down. Who know maybe defiance is a reason to shut this thread down before the masses can read it..This is not a bash against DCP but a question that hopefully will be answered without hostility.
  4. I agree .haven t been on herenin a while and am tired of seeing the same old farts commenting on nonsense in almost ever thread.to bad they locked the thread.not the first or the last I've been shut down on .hope things are well and hoping bush does better in the years to come.they had some big shoes to fill when you left.

  5. Name is Rod we have met many times .I marched Dutch boy back in 84 85 86 with Al D horn arranger .and Fred O drum arranger when you guys were kickin ###

  6. I was with statesmen 89-98 Brigs99-2008 tall bald center snare drummer

  7. So now you telling me that corps give refunds to members that are not having-a positive experience ."fos" I say .I actually know the drum caption and taught him once. I know he is very competitive.I can also assume Mr Hammond knows what it takes to succeed in the DCA forum.I'll bet he cares about the penalties..... Come prelims I am sure they will be within the time limits only because the big boys will be back from the "show"and their priorities will switch.Let's face it we all know cadets2 is a farm team for the junior corps with all the under age members hoping for a shot with the big boys by "buying in 100 percent"to this program good or bad.I guarantee promises are being made as we speak.
  8. First things first .The alumni crack wasn' t against you but truth in the fact that they do it for fun.Seeing that you marched sun coast puts you at about 50 or older. I haven't marched in a few years but I have still been active up until 3 years ago.I also am a cadet fan as many of my friends have marched there.Do you honestly think that paying a 1000 plus which was public knowledge is something you would pay if your staff didn't have it together.Do you honestly think that some of those kids are wondering if they made the right choice. IMO I think kids go to these corps because of the name plus the track record of the organization.Honestly, do you think after being penalized every show that there are a few members wondering as well as us what's up?If you think there is some big surprise ending that hasn'tt been taught yet or music that is not being played I think your mistaken. Two shows ago the parked and played their exit why not park and play the "secret ending" .As much as I like them they are still struggling at the end of their show which will clean by finals.Heaven forbid they ad more .Not enough time sir.I think it is up to the staff to teach the drum major to slow the pace of the show as did the corps I marched in .
  9. I think you are not seeing my point .I am not bashing the corps or the members.I for one was one of the few looking for fresh blood in this stale circuit .I was pointing out a fact that there should be no excuse for penalties with maybe a front line infraction by a guard member or soloist.I remember every year before we competed the powers that be would time the show going on and coming off the field then make adjustments..We are in august which now takes into account scores for placement at prelims which we all know" going on later is better".if you think the kids don't care you best go back to the Alumni thread where they do it for fun.
  10. Are you kidding me?Duh!!!! They have the same show designers .The designers should know fully well how long a show must be.Unlike the cadets and devils that you mention not putting out their final product till the end which really has no relevance to my point they still know what to do not to incur penalties.I personally have 8 rings and many years of experience and have always had a staff that knew how to not get penalized. For a bunch of kids forking over a ton of money to march this corps they deserve a little more than "hey great job tonight sorry you didn't come third our bad" From experience coming 4th sucks and if it was because my staff had something to do with it I'd be livid.

  12. My point being is how many times have the cadets come out at the first show or through the middle of the season with penalties. Also ,Hammond recently with the Bucs came out how many times in the last 6 years with penalties? Someone is dropping the ball or a certain someone is to busy trying to make the top 3 in DCI to put his foot down .Here is an idea "30 second pit interlude"other corps are doing it.
  13. One would think with Hammond and Hopkins at the helm this would already have been taken care of.
  14. You have to realize that at the two shows that Empire competed against a top three corps, the spreads were close. Yet when the top 7 corps were together, the spreads were larger. After seeing both corps this past weekend the point spread was justified as Empire had a clean percussion show and Bucs had their worst drum show to date. I think this trend will continue for the remainder of the season. Don't let one bad show from the Bucs fool you, they will be ahead of the pack this weekend.
  15. Anyone ever think that maybe It wasn't Ed but Thurston that was off that night.Thurston being around along time might just be "PLAYING THE GAME" DCA expects.
  16. I love this thread and here are my predictions Minnesota Reading Hurs Empire Cabs Alliance Corpsvets Renegades Kidsgrove Bush Kilties High Brass: Minnesota High Percussion: Reading High Visual :Minnesota High Colorguard: Hurcs Best Drum major:Statesman
  17. Yo Spandy didn't know that hurcs are in Rochester on the 26 th of June lol
  18. Lets see 1:same arrangers and designers from last year 2:better show than last year 3: same judges as last year 4:same corps competing against them as last year Yes lets see what happens when they put the drums on and put this giant on the field with the guard
  19. I was just looking at the Reading preview show on youtube and was wondering why you guys switched the shell colors of your drums to brown. I all I can say about the video is holy #### drums, you guys rock . 10 snares nice! amazing tenors again.
  20. The only reason I mentioned it as a "RUMOR"was to give Empire or Renagades the chance to announce it first and only after Mr. Gamin mentioned the trip in his post as being a reason for members not to jump this late in the spring.I believe the members have known this for a while now.At the end of my post I also said "wait for it".
  21. This response refers to a few posts...If I remember correctly, the Brigs played a Hazo show in 08 (written by Wayne Downey and company) but still only managed maybe 30 something horns and a smaller battery after just about all of their horn and percussion staff jumped in. I personally think is has to do with staff selection these days. These days the staff needs to have connections or somewhat of a following whether it be from marching bands or indoor lines. A corps also needs a strong organization that supports its staff. On a different note, just because Brigs ran four shows last year does not mean they made money at any of them. From talking with some Brigs members these shows, as good as they were run, were not money makers...
  22. Sorry to here about the brigs but people close to the corps knew it was coming. Also rumor has it the San Fran trip is off due to "money issues"but like my previous thread said" wait for it"
  23. What corps do you think will fold this year and what impact will it have on the sport? You already know my predictions from previous posts last year.
