  1. thanks for the great picture. now i know everybody was able to see me clutching my nose during retreat.
  2. I think it's safe to assume that you've been through this before?
  3. As a marching member, i cannot state what the true problem is, because from on the field you can only see and hear so much, and what sounds right where yoiu are, is not right in the stands or box. i can say however, that bad drill, in my opinion, can never be an excuse. the season lasts all summer, and it should not take that long for a drill writer to realize there is a problem and correct it. so from this outlook, i can truly say that staging is no excuse. i am not sure what it was, it may have been the weather preventing the sound to travel how it had earlier in the day, it may have been fatigue, it may have just been one of those shows where it just didnt quite line up right. there is a number of explinations, but drill, and a drill writer, is not one of these. as for the "fluff" and "everyone is a winner" concept... that should not be the case. i read these reviews all the time, and this is the first time i have decided to "defend" my corps. and for that, im not really defending the corps, im just stating my opinion and outlook on drum corps in general. had this been said about any other corps' drill and i read it, i would have had the same response. however, i hardly ever read reviews of any other corps, simply because i do not care. not to be rude or harsh, its because as a marching member of a corps, i have my corps and my contribution to worry about and what i can do to improve the performance as a whole. and that brings me right back to the "everyone is a winner" concept... i do not care for the entirely positive posts, because my entire purpose for these reviews is to read where i need to improve. yes, we have staff to say that, but rarely do they have an overview like a spectator. the staff is looking at their area of concern, and not how it all melds together. However... To all the compliments from every review towards the Brigs, thank you. i appreciate the positive feedback. I even appreciate the criticism (positive or not) because it helps raise our scores every week. again, thank you.
  4. Thank you. I was unable to see or hear Fusion perform or warmup, but from what I have heard and read, Fusion put on a great show as well. As for the victory concert, yes, we were all thinking of Bruce. He had chosen "With Each Sunset" for our ballad in our show. I cannot speak for the rest of the corps, but I personally was near tears during our concert in the parking lot. Thank you again, and best of luck to you and the rest of Fusion.
  5. there was tornado watches/warnings (i forget which is which) at many times as well. i didnt get to count the crowd, but from my understandings the 50/50 raffle was only about $100 if that's any judgement for crowd size.
  6. We do have a tribute on our uniforms. On the left chest, the red side, there is a B embroidered on the uniform. That B does not just represent the corps name, but all those who came before, who will come after, and those by our side. To be a Brigadier is not to be part of a drum corps, but to be part of a family. Part of being a family is remembering how we got to where we are today. Ellis Island is now just a museum, but to countless Americans it is a symbol of what they are, where they came from, and where they will go. Just like Ellis Island is a symbol to immigrants, the B is our symbol. It reminds us of who we are and where we came from. The B is in tribute to all that has been done to put us where we are today. On another note, thank you to all of you who supported us, and congratulated us. Without you guys, we would not have made it this far. THANK YOU.
  7. Very simple way of doing it, just like most other issues (but not specifically drum corps). They practice, and perfect. Things then were made to perfect and last forever, and they probably took the same approach with music. they didn't take the mentality of "if it ain't broke don't fix" and used "practice makes perfect"
  8. brigs are from syracuse... let's just simplify it and say the entire state?
  9. don't take offense to this, but i want to clear this up since it really annoys people from here. It's not "upstate new york," it's "central new york." sorry, but it's not upstate until you reach around the adirondacks.
  10. 1. as a member of The Brigadiers horn line, I can say that it is frustrating not to know exactly how you matched up with the other corps's horn lines, so I understand the impatience. 2. OUCH! but very much needed, and as the saying goes, it's funny because it's true. 3. It wouldn't take much to get the recaps and scores posted quickly... Just one volunteer each weekend, and a phone. I understand about the webmaster having a life. However, i'd think it wastes much more time for him to hunt down the scores and post them before he recieves the recap as well. I noticed, today for example, scores are posted... but no recap.
  11. and i must say it Chris.... THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!
  12. HEY! i'm not as think as you dumb i am!
