  1. First of all, all of us did not have the same experience you had. Secondly you and your friends that you marched with (this is my assumption of the "we" you use) may have the same feeling about things, but don't lump the rest of us with you. I personally don't feel that the corps owes me anything. I marched with two corps before Capital Regiment and one was not the best experience, but I don't landblast them for what they did. I moved on, JOINED A NEW CORPS! I'm one of those alumni that feel Capital Regiment is doing it right. Do I think these questions raised need answers, of course. However it's up to the managament and staff, regardless of who it is, to make the decision of how and when they answer those questions! If you don't want to go to the camps or contact the staff when they're posted, that's your decision, fine. Move on and join and/or support a different corps.
  2. I agree with above statements that questions need to be raised, especially after the events that may or may not happened in 2006(I say it like that because even though I've spoken with Rick and people who were around/marched at that time, I was not there and therefore do not feel I can comment on the actual events) . However, these questions can be raised in a way of educating future members and their parents not scaring the crap out of them. If I heard this about one corps and I didn't know much about drum corps at all, I would be so unsure if the organization of drum corps was a good fit for me. Tone and emotion are extremely difficult to convey through the internet, but I would hope that if anyone is posting to help address a situation they would take their words into account.
  3. semis: http://www.dci.org/schedule/detail.cfm?eve...3b-9c0f37061184 finals: http://www.dci.org/schedule/detail.cfm?eve...74-4e91ec8dc8c2 and yes back in the day the top five over all scores of div 2/3 could perform at quarterfinals for div 1...then div 2/3 corps got better then div 1 corps and started making it into semis. some div 1 corps pitched a fit, and the rule changed that a div 2/3 corps could only perform in div 1 quarterfinals if they were going to perform as a div 1 corps the next year (rule went into effect in 2002). now that we have these classes and the schedule is DRASTICALLY different (anyone remember the DCI parade the day b4 opening ceremonies?), i highly doubt it will ever happen again. hope that helps you out
  4. i'm not one for predictions, but i would like to know the line up of todays show...anyone?!
  5. i'd assume they'd all go down to bloomington for housing, ESPECIALLY if they're performing, cause it'll be like a 4 hour drive (one way) if they didn't!
  6. It's nice that DCI is recognizing NW open class corps!!! http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=d...d6-39d0b29be112
  7. I marched guard for 9 years, 6 of them before we had our own judge, and i always felt just as important as the rest of the corps. corps' scores went up (vis and ge scorest that is) when their guard had a complete book rather than a guard who either held their flags/weapons stripped/port for 32 counts here and there becuase they didn't have work yet. plus it's not always about the score. my sole reason for marching wasn't so i could say to someone "well i scored a ##### at this show!" it was about performing the best show i could perform.
  8. they are corps all over America and the world even, and considering that some members come from the oppostie side of the planet to march a corps it's hard to say how people know about it. 20 years ago my family got into drum corps because my sister got a flyer at school for a small parade/exhibition corps. I grew up in a suburb of chicago with corps surrounding us (cavies, phantom, star, scouts, blue coats, not to mention the div 2/3 corps!), and it was amazing how many people never even heard of them.
