  1. Ok... glad I skipped it then, that would have driven me bananas
  2. I have not read much on the topic, and just did a quick glance to see if had been discussed already... Just wondering if the changes this year improved the sound quality for those who attended finals. Was the roof open?
  3. Here is the link to the story, I just thought I would toss it up here for those who might want to get involved: http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/article-2/Cal...cd-a1a477ab6b11
  4. Is it just me or does the webcast schedule suck more this year than last year? Did they not have all but one of the "major" regionals on live last year?? I don't think I am going to pay for a live subscription this year since I missed several of them last year. Why not just save the $20 and get them all thru VOD? uuugh... DCI sort of reminds me of the Federal Government (regardless of who is leading it) in their decision making sometimes!
  5. EDIT: my title is all screwy, not sure what happened there, but I know the show is actually the 18th... anyway here is my question. I am just wondering if I should bother trying to re-arrange my work schedule for this show? I live about 3 hours away, and the drive doesn't bother me but if I drive out there, I better see one helluva show! To anyone who has attended a super early season show, would this be worth it in your opinion? I attended an early season show in Phoenix last year, and thought that it was worth it, but that was only a 2 hour drive.
  6. I went to the Finals in Jackson and yeah it was ummmm.... weird. I must say though that the Cadets show that year was just BAD ###!!! I know KC is having major difficulties with their school district, both academically and financially but I am betting this could all be worked out. It might take the DCI overlords stepping in to help manage housing sites for everyone, but let's all hope for an opt out of the Indy junk in a year or two and see how it goes! Oh and just an FYI to the guy who was talking about the blazing hot turf, it is long, long long gone.
  7. I was not lucky enough to have attended any of the Kansas City performances, but from the videos I have seen and first hand account from folks who did attend, it was a phenomenal location so why has it not ever returned to there? I know we are stuck with this craptastic 10 year deal in Indy, but what precluded it prior to that?
  8. Apparently several rock bands were cut from the opening ceremony because of the luge death, they felt it would be disrespectful. The rumor is that all or most of those acts will bein the in the new... modified... closing ceremony.
  9. I have the Ustream broadcaster on my Droid and it is fantastic! I never even thought about using it for DCI stuff... EXCELLENT idea!
  10. Anyone in or near Maryland want to attend the Bel Air, MD event on the 20th?
  11. Fans of the activity getting together to support it is welfare?? As for the guy talking about colleges getting involved, what about getting out the high schools or even middle schools so that the band students coming up thru those grades could see what is out there at an earlier age? I know that this happens now, but I am talking about more of a marketing type campaign instead of a full blown music clinic. Honestly, I am just sort of thinking out loud here, but the conversation has certainly been interesting!
  12. hmmm, the title got cutoff, but it was supposed to say "leveling the field" campaign? I was just sitting here thinking about some of the Corps like Pioneer, Troopers, Glassmen and Academy. These are all great groups that could probably flourish just that extra little bit if they had an influx of cash. Has anyone here ever tried to organize a "help the little guy" campaign? I think it would be interesting if everyone here setup a regular donation of somewhere between 25 and 100 bux to at least three or four groups from now thru July. The only rule would be that you could only give to a group that is ranked less than 8th. I am just curious to see what that might do for those programs. I know it would still be a drop in the bucket compared to what they need over the long haul, but if it allowed them to do one extra thing or focus a few more hours on the program instead of fund raising, it could be a major benefit... right?
  13. Robert Smith is a freaking GENIUS!!!!!! I loved playing for him in Magic, even if I was only there for a short time!
