  1. I am a diehard Cavaliers fan, but something has been missing ever since 2007 or so... 2010 seemed to almost verify the major staff changes that went on between 2007-2009, but you have to wonder if it really was? The Cavies of the 2000's were such a force, it's a shame to see them struggling as much as they have these last few years
  2. Mr. Degrauwe had been more involved with the day-to-day opoerations of the corps in recent years, especially during finals week, so this is not a HUGE surprise. It is still disheartening that the Corps has lost so many people that were keys to their success in recent years (Mr. Zuccala, Mr. Bertman, etc.). The Cavaliers have always reminded me of the Steelers or Yankees in Athletic terms, they like to operate from internally and find great success from doing so....I hope the Corps finds the same amount of success in the future and still honors the contributions of those whom they have left behind.
  3. Bruno is one of the best people in drum corps, for those who know him/know of him, he is one of a kind.
  4. agreed. The guys/staff worked really hard on a show that, at least early on, was leaving a lot of people scratching their heads and turned it into a very solid and entertaining performance...Congrats to all of them. I have a strong suspicion that next year will see them no lower than 2nd as the new staff has had 2 years to install their methodology to the ever-present "Cavalier Way"....so start preparing material for the new "What Happened to (insert 2010 4th place corps here)" Thread that is only 352 days away.
  5. The Cavaliers, to my knowledge, still discourage cell phone use on tour as a way to increase the camaraderie between members. Generally, the guys will borrow a staff member/volunteer's phone if they need to make a call after the show or during down time (Of course, if an emergency arises the members are given whatever is needed to help them get in contact with friends/family/etc). I also believe that the Junior Officers are allowed to have Cell Phones on them, but I'm not sure on that one. In any event, while I still believe that they do restrict phones while on tour, I'm sure that with the technology available today that some have atleast attempted to find a way to circumnavigate the rules.
  6. The Cavaliers - Pittsburgh Steelers...Tons of tradition, fiercely loyal and large fan base, generally loathed by other fans, Legendary leadership (Mr. Warren = Mr. Rooney), Predictable style yet always effective (Steelers - Tough D and Running Game, Cavaliers - Great Visual) Had to give the Green Machine a touch of Black and Gold, all these comparisons to the Red Wings were starting to make me sick
