I'm all for getting people to shut up, but I feel as if that would also lower the amount of cheering mid-performance (which is minimal, at best, right now).

Sounds like someone is holding in some INT resentment. Did they cut you? I know it can be tough sometimes.

I think that although corps members may be encountering financial issues, it is much more likely that openings are just more advertised than in the past.

Sorry for double post. I'd really love to see a picture like this that shows corps' final placement through the years. It'd be a great visual imagine to show DCI's history.

This picture clearly shows that there is no slotting. In addition, it's really funny that the only people to win the shows all season didn't win the last one. aha. But really. With the exception of BD and Pioneer, you can see every corps switching around all season.

I voted same only because both sides would have happened by different people. Less, because some people really only like winning shows. More, because some people would have seen it as the biggest underdog in history.

I hate to add to the derailing, but length does not equal "not chop and bop". For instance, the Devs opener in 08 was something like 6 minutes long. That didn't stop it from consisting of a good 6 different short melody excerpts plus 5 or 6 percussion breaks.

They ARE playing both of those pieces. Perhaps we will hear something like this duet for their ballad

I agree with this statement 100%. The point of modern drum corps tearing up songs and re-piecing them together is to achieve a more fluid and connected show. Back in the day they may have chopped up a single song a little less, but the show as a whole wasn't the production it is today. New and old are different styles of the same theme :)

I don't believe this will be a chop and bop show, or at least not to the extent recent shows have been. Why? Last year Devs announced a good 10 songs. Shoving 10 melodies into an 11 minute show is essentially asking for things to be cut left and right. This announcement only includes 4 pieces of music. In order to spread that over 11 minutes, there will either be a lot of silent drill or actual melodic lines.

Are you from the Organization? Cause if not, I'd actually just rather wait for a press release then hear a million hints dropped. I'm sure there are a number of people who have attended one of the Devil's camps, but they probably stay silent for a reason. If you are going to put out a rumor title, then just do it. No need to be sneaky about it.

I remember hearing that the Devils call their usual chord progression that goes with it "Space Music". I guess its a package deal for them. I've heard high schools try to play a space chord warmup. Flutes playing a space chord = not intense, just annoying.
