hew this is for you and everyone else who has no sense of humor. I WAS JOKING. I only meant more corps is not the solution. And yes i wish every corps that has ever been around would still be around. Their is nothing worst then a corps folding or going inactive. -
When Will Crown pass Cadets?
t_mac1011 replied to corpsband's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
No i am not. I was just commenting on the fact that they are playing 4 or is it 5 movements. Most shows that are progressive play a more through composed show. But don't get me wrong i love the show. I think the Cadets finally have a great take on west side story. But thanks for trying to insult me dude. -
1. Devils 2. Crown 3. Cadets 4. Vanguard 5. Cavies 6. Bluecoats 7. Blue Stars 8. Phantom 9. Crusaders 10. Blue Knights 11. Glassmen 12. Spirit Just what I think i am probably wrong

Dude I agree with you totally. I was just saying that lots of corps does not always give great educational and performance options. I do agree that there have been several great corps at the D2, D3, and now open class levels. -

Wow I must say you are right. I do tend to rush when I speak my mind. I clearly no nothing compared to you. But Let me give it a try. 1. Obviously there have never been tens of thousands of drum corps. And if you had a sense of humor you would know that. 2. You are right a dummy can fall down to prove there is gravity. When that same dummy tries to tell me (and everyone) that gravity is bad because it made him fall down, then i comment on it. And by the way that was my usage of your analogy. Hope you laughed. 3. Once again you are right. Contras or Tubas (as we now refer to them) can sound like a string bass, however a mellophone cannot produce the sound of a person biting into an apple (Crusaders effect this year). If you want to learn more please visit any site that helps old people like yourself cope with change in the world around you without crying about it on a forum. Thank you for notifying me that my grammar was a little sub par. I must admit I am a little ashamed. Now to sum all this up I have only posted on this forum to state my views not to be pushed around by you. In the future please have a sense of humor and know that even though you are obviously very close minded, there are people on here that know just as much or MORE than you. -

Ok I kind of agree. I love the usage of the piano in drum corps. Blue devils are using a piano patch and it completely changes the feel. So that is a case of a fake sound representing an acoustic instrument that cannot be used on the field. And I hate the fake sounds. Much as you do. But some corps are using effects. They would not be able to do this without "live" recorded sounds that are simply reproduced by a machine. -

Well let me name off all the corps who aren't using electric anything and yet they still have musical balance problems. To me, their is an art to finding musical balance with of without synths. I personally like the new colors that i have heard this year. I could not have heard these things without the use of electronics. -

oh and by the way just because people are pro anything does not mean you should judge their intelligence. just because your views are different does not always you are right or wrong. -

dude you are right we should have 1,000000000000000000 corps out there. That was we can watch corps with 50 members in them. Yeah that would be fun. -
yuck?? whatever dude. its a forum and stupid people say stupid things all the time that cause the room to get off topic. But to get back on. I have watched the show several times. I love it!!! but I am not sure about how to end this story. I watched the movie the other day to get an inspiration and it was real sad. Maybe a tearful sad ending might pull the sympathy vote from the judges and fans.

I know I am about to #### some people off but here I go. I think the Cadets show is great (very old school) but great. The performers play great and the book is written fine. I just feel like that artistic qualities in crowns show is greater than the fast drill and loud notes from the cadets. Crowns show is a very educated show with many layers. I do not see how Crown's show if it is clean and perhaps reworked in some spots can lose to cadets. By the way I love both shows. That is just my opinion. -
Wow!!! I have heard dumb things before but I think this tops it guys. Wow!!! Dude!!! wow have you ever marched. If you did you know that all of those guys that work their a#$ off every day deserve to win. And although phantom (while one of my favorite corps) is obviously not doing so well you should never just diss a corps for beating them. Every corps want to win so you cant fault them for doing so. Wow dude????

I really don't mid anything about it or the singing stuff or use of narration or any other new effects as long as they are done tastefully. And by the way, it is great to have the opinion about something. Just be able to back up your opinions with things like examples and facts that make your arguments valid. Don't just say that you don't like something. Explain why so that maybe others can better understand your points on why you hate synths. I for one don't see why its a bad idea and no one can give me any facts to state how this IS hurting the activity. Lots of people are saying how it COULD hurt the activity. But none of the corps (in my opinion) have done anything to hurt the overall package. On the contrary I think that some ideas have been broadened by the additions. -

San Antonio or sooner please. -
Also most of these corps made changes for San Antonio. And in drum corps, scores tend to go down on the first performance after changes and then they skyrocket. This is due to the judges seeing something new coupled with the performers not being comfortable with the new changes. Also, the staff is getting a first read on the changes much like the judges. All of these factor into scoring. And also the heat probably fatigued the performances also. God there are many factors to add in. Also some judging panels are tougher. I expect some scores to go down on the switch tonight. And some scores to go up from the corps that were performing at the show in question.

20th Anniversary of "The Frack"
t_mac1011 replied to Elmo Blatch's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Wow flight of the bumblebee is really hard too yet no one plays it .... cause no corps can play it clean. Oh and I just meant that it sounded a little hokey. Happy jazz sounds vanilla and white. I get so tired of listening to those groups that try that stuff. I have heard many bands try to pull of similar musical ideas and I have never heard a band or corps sound good doing it. I just mean If you want happy and gay go watch Will and Grace. For the rest of us play some evil, dirty, 3 am jazz. -
Can I just say that the majority of the shows this year are kind of boring me??? anyone agree disagree. I Noticed it tonight while watching this show

20th Anniversary of "The Frack"
t_mac1011 replied to Elmo Blatch's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Well lets agree to disagree. I feel that for the time the Blue Devils were light years behind the Cadets and Vanguard in drill design. As for the music. Sophisticated yes, but very very very very dirty. The ensemble is out of tune and has balance problems all throughout the show. I just think that somewhere around 94,95 their creative team and writers sat down and decided to take the corps in another direction. That is why they were the corps of the 90's. Not the 80's. But then again I love the new school and am usually against all the older DCP guys wanting to bring down the activity just so that it will be like the good old days. Oh and the last few comments were more general and pointed at no one in particular.
