  2. Small production company (community theater) is doing Sweeney Todd by Sondheim. However due to the players in the orchestra and lack of funding, the company cant hire a bassoon player. If anyone out there has a copy of the 1st Trombone part from the NON alternate Orchestration (Full Orchestration), please contact me! Thank You! JP
  3. I noticed SCV only marched 3 Tenors during there half dress run. 3 for the whole season? If so anyone hear something in particular as to why? Timbre? etc.. JP
  4. Don't believe there are scholarships unless they are from a drum corps. But I even doubt that. You just need to know someone or a company that likes you and donate to your drum corp fund. Maybe write a letter? JP
  5. FYI: Note sure if this has been said or not, but he is charging groups who play this piece $400 bucks a pop on loan I believe. And I think over a 100 groups have played it so do the math. Not saying the piece is good or bad just pointing out that groups (Especially wind ensembles) thirst for new music. As far as So Cal is concerned, only Long Beach State has played it and San Diego State will perform it on Sunday May 2nd. Its a split concert with symphonic band and the wind symphony. Concert starts at 2PM PAC/5PM EST SYMPHONIC BAND: A Festival Prelude - Alfred Reed Pageant - Vincent Persichetti October - Eric Whitacre Dedicatory Overture - Clifton Williams WIND SYMPHONY: Aurora Awakes - John Mackey Song For Lyndsay - Andrew Boysen, Jr. Blue Shades - Frank Ticheli For those who are not in the San Diego area you can watch the performance on ustream. www.ustream.tv/channel/SDSU-Wind-Symphony

  14. Since this thread is about Audio/Video I thought I would add my .02 cents. I am looking for: 1983 and 1986 Semifinals (Prelims) HI CAM Video Set (VHS/BETA) 1992 and 1994 Quarterfinals Set (Multi-Cam) 2007 Cd's
  15. I saw on You Tube that someone uploaded some railmen clips
  16. I do need 87, 88, and 89 but that would be in the last set of Legacy Box Set. I do have Top 21 from 1990 and 1991 but not looking to sell those originals. bracknbras
  17. 1992 Santa Clara Vanguard! You should have seen early California! The guard had the original unis with the white boots! And I remember the guard one time did a black rimed hat with black trench coat. Guard had menorahs and Drummers had slings at one point! There was even a rumor that the small brass ensemble was going to use P/R horns when the drums played slings. bracknbras
  18. I always prefer Silver. I do have a brushed brass copper kanstul C trumpet which I do play for solo work but for ensemble I play a C Silver. Mouthpiece - I prefer gold! I have a stach and goat so the gold is better for me from a contact standpoint.
  19. Looking for Prelims and Quarterfinals video sets on VHS or BETA. 1981 and 1983 Prelims 1986 Semifinals 1987 Multicam Semifinals (2 volumes) 1992 and 1994 Quarterfinals Thanks Bracknbras
  20. Send me a PM. Also, are your seats above the press box? bracknbras
  21. The main reason why G to Bb is (well this is what DCI intended) to ease the financial burden on starting and sustaining Drum Corps in the activity. The thought was that if you can use any keyed brass instrument then it would be easier to obtain horns since there are more manufactures producing Bb horns then G's and that High Schools, out reach programs, youth groups, or just a bunch of people who have a dream of starting a corps etc...could even use borrowed or use loaned horns from area high schools to use there horns! This makes the activity more accessible to more groups. Of course this was the initial intention...which is almost Ten years ago now. Hope that helps some. bracknbras
  22. I say NO I have heard many things (bad) about these horns. Stuffy, tight, pitch on those horns is just awful!! Are you going to be a competing corps? If so, then DEFINITELY NO! bracknbras
