  1. something - from the end of the ballad to the end of the drum solo - actually quite a bit of time to pull off a major upgrade AND you get to do with the brass not playing they could teach it and clean it quickly given it is not a playing section - turn that 30 seconds into a huge wow, right now I hate what they are doing - a little cringe worthy
  2. I watched the show on FN again You know when they could add some drill magic? During the drum solo in Kennedy when the corps is currently in the block with the guard doing their "movement" which consists mostly of waving the horn around and squatting - none of which is particularly magical A cool opportunity with some great tempo to work some drill in instead of the "movement" - IMO
  3. this is ALL opinion and conjecture - no way of testing any of this... SO, with that said, it's his opinion vs. yours and neither deserves the label "absolutely absurd" I happen to agree Star 91 would be competitive today - so... but respect that you feel differently!
  4. Audiences don't "enjoy" different shows in the same way. Some shows are more emotional, some more intellectual, some you appreciate the execution or demand and some the creativity impresses. Not all shows are "fun" type shows - which I think a lot of you guys are mistaking for "best GE" -- VK was almost always the crowd favorite because they were fun - but I'm hoping no one thinks they should have "won GE" because of laughing and standing O's... Madison is very "in your face" some years and ends their shows with company fronts drawing the crowd out of their seats. Doesn't mean they have the best GE. I love Coats - and get the crowd reaction - but their show lacks GE right now - it doesn't shape well, a little flat, then the very fun ending. And I'm saying this as someone who wants them to win. They are running 4th or so in GE right now, 3rd some nights. As they should be.
  5. Cadets with some plan changes & 60 hours of rehearsal next Monday to Thursday - I wonder what they will do with that massive chunk of rehearsal time?? A Rough Draft: Monday, July 28th 9 am arrive 11 am – Breakfast 12 noon – rehearsal 4 pm – Lunch 5 pm --- Rehearsal 8 pm – Dinner 9 pm – Laundry Tuesday, July 29th 8 am – breakfast 9 am – rehearsal 1 pm – Lunch 2 pm – Rehearsal 6:30 pm – Snack 7 pm – Community Rehearsal and Performance 9 pm – Dinner Wednesday, July 30th 8 am – breakfast 9 am – rehearsal 1 pm – Lunch 2 pm – Rehearsal 5 pm – Pack and Load 9 pm – Performance at the West Chester DCI Show http://yea.showare.com/default.asp Thursday, July 31st 9 am – Rehearsal at Rutgers University – High Point Solutions 5 pm – off the field 9 pm – Performance at the Tour of Champions DCI Rutgers Show http://yea.showare.com/default.asp There are still some details to work out around Allentown but I can say that I am reasonably sure that we will be rehearsing at Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA
  6. the same judge had them flipped the night before with a similar, small spread. Just sounds like either Coats had a rough run Monday night or Cadets had a rough run tonight. Nothing wrong with a judge calling it as they see it... If the spread was crazy one direction and then crazy the other - well that would be more of a surprise I guess. JMO
  7. that same judge had them first with Coats second the night prior - so a "call it they see it" judge - which I totally admire clearly the 2 lines are very close right now and flip flopping - Cadets have to out clean the Coats - which as all things in life, starts with the feet
  8. anyway - back on topic YES Coats can win gold. The question is "will they"? Getting 2 pointed by Cadets tonight makes that look a little less likely. They've got to cut that gap and it is opening back up.
  9. yup - 2 pointing Coats and more than that over Crown is starting to become sizable... if those gaps stick this weekend that is probably cemented interesting indeed, I guess for ATL a gap of less than a half point with BD would be a key indicator as well
  10. So Coats took drums, Crown took brass and Cadets took everything else and were close #2 in both brass & drums The drum thing seems to flip-flop nightly. Someone is going to have to step up and "own it" Cadets really pulling ahead in visual & a solid gap in GE as well Academy guard with a very nice score and placement - great to see from them!
  11. I agree. Close. Not ready to call it yet, but it is trending that way nightly.
  12. well I was trying to make a point about the "mental game" in another thread but someone dismissed it! I honestly think the losing is starting to get them down. But I'm probably just projecting.
  13. yup and it was great, and very high-brow... until some crazy person hijacked it... and then, walla - I founded DCP (cue evil laugh)
  14. all I had was a spoon and a pot, but #### I could make some great music with that old pot
  15. in other words - before 1994 we'd call a scoreline or wait for DCW
  16. it was before Al Gore invented the internet and AOL perfected it!
  17. disagree completely - and it's not "propaganda" it is patriotism - and having traveled the world over many times, I get the pride so many feel in the USA
  18. just to be clear I DID NOT write that - the poster "ZIG ZIG ZAG" wrote it / they my name is left inside the "Quote" and I do not agree with the sentiment at all - George.
  19. I like them a lot as well. I might get hit by lightening but I actually PREFER them to the Cadets classic uniform.
  20. I agree with Cadets 2005 as still winning it today Other great champions such as Star 91 would have a shot. Possibly Cadets 98. I personally don't think the Cavaliers shows would hold up as well even though they are more recent due to today's judging climate - JMO
  21. scores from MS SCV-90.6 Cavaliers-88.15 BlueStars-83.4 Spirit-77.3 PacCrest-75.95 Mandarins-74.25 Pioneer-66.35
