  1. not much of a crowd - that's too bad, usually it is a huge crowd there
  2. Followed by The Cadets and 2 others Alonzo Adams ‏@AlonzoJAdams 35s More Love @TheCadets guard and corps cumberbun costume changes. Much better flow with show. Love the show. #drumsofsummer #drumcorps
  3. I can see Cambridge also has it's fair share of obnoxious. lol.
  4. So you're saying that Boston Crusaders 2014 would contend for Gold with Cadets 1993 & Star 1993? Is that what you're saying? Because I'm telling you Regiment 1993 (the third place corps in 93) would beat Boston 2014 and I don't think it would be very close - say 3-4 points or so gap under today's rules
  5. and the judges seem to agree with you, at least the other night. I was still shocked. SCV seemed like a 83 maybe 84 type score to me
  6. I'm pretty sure the BA band isn't still standing around from last fall lol - that would be great though - GREAT show For those who don't know the quality of what we're talking about / BA here's their Copland show "Utopia" from LY http://youtu.be/Zc8KNYiYWLY?t=1m25s Definitely worth checking out. Guard is amazing. Brass section may be best I've ever heard on a HS level
  7. why because YOU think so?? - there's a massive gap in achievement right now between what BD is attempting and achieving and what Cavaliers are doing. IF anything the judging sheets don't adequately reflect the true gap so we end up with SCV "hot on the heels" of a corps like Crown.
  8. Progress happens. But not all new is better than all old. Star's 90/91 brass lines would still place with the top 3. A lot of examples like that.
  9. This weekend will make things much clearer. Personally I was shocked by how close SCV/Coats/Cavaliers were bunched together and especially how close they were on the tail of Crown. Didn't see that coming at all.
  10. Um, Cadets didn't win the Ott for Angels & Demons. And the brass book for that program was anything but "easy" Star of Indiana didn't play a phillip glass show - so I'm not what year you're referring to? BD/Cadets/Crown and several other top corps this year have very tough brass books with various challenges. Staging and stylistically Cadets book is very tough. Crown has some crazy timing and run challenges. BD's book is extremely demanding as well So I'm VERY confused what you are talking about.
  11. Should be a very enjoyable show for the audience! And the matchups between BK/Phantom, Colts/Crossman/Troopers are very interesting. Cadets debut their guard uniform & corps cummerbund changes tonight as well.
  12. I feel that the quality has never been higher - but there are/were things from back in the day which were also stunningly great one of the qualities maturity imparts is the ability to respect others and recognize that each era has it's qualities and all of them are to be cherished and respected and let's face it - this year's corps don't have the best brass, percussion and guard sections to ever grace a foot ball field. There's a reasonable argument to be made that you'd have to go back through many years and select a handful of "greats" that sadly will never cross paths on the competitive field
  13. DCI field pass interviews Cadets narrator http://www.dci.org/audio/2014/field_pass/20140715_fieldpass.MP3
  14. I pictured SCV below Coats and above Cavaliers by a half point. I also thought they were pretty rough and flat. The snares and pit were very impressive but like you thought the horns were rough. It felt like about an 83/84 score type performance. It also seemed very short. Edited to add: I guess my biggest shock was SCV that close to Crown.
  15. you really aren't have a good time until punches are being thrown and swear words are being exchanged! Us corps people are passionate!
  16. I agree. But it is pouring rain and lightening outside right now!
  17. I'm on a treadmill right now running uphill for my cardio. Does that count? And yeah - I'm "old"
  18. I just heard a lot of individuals during the transition marching -- the intonation was better than the prior FN feed Had seen them live in Chester last weekend and even then was a little surprised, I'd guess a lot of it was due to changes in the visual program Regardless -obviously the judge who was right there heard/felt much differently. So congrats to them on the caption win!
