  2. Wow...this is pretty much exactly right. The trumpets in quintet acted as the drumline to keep time. Also, that entire split corps section in BLT was controlled by the center tenor on side 1. Rumble didn't ever really tear per say, rather was more difficult to line up articulations and entrances...step size kind and tempo not too bad. And we repped the end of prologue and the show every single day in visual, part of the daily routine.
  3. Nope, we're happy doing our thing. "We will continue to work towards what we say is possible." So long as it gets the crowd on their feet like it did this year!!!
  4. Each GE judge has the same influence that any other judges do. While the GE scores count double every other caption, they double up the GE captions at bigger shows and average the two GE Vis scores and the two GE Music scores.
  5. After marching 4 years of world class drum corps, I have to say that visual warm ups are absolutely crucial. It serves the purposes of mental focus and group cohesiveness as well and reengaging muscles needed to move after not having used those muscles for some 4 hours. Absolutely necessary!
  6. I disagree, Lucas Oil Stadium, though terrible when closed acoustically, provides excellent height to appreciate forms!
  7. Yeah he's a great guy...except when you don't know your dots... :-)
  8. Tuba and Euphonium pass throughs at a 2 step interval front to back at 200bpm is another good example...
  9. WHICH flag feature? The Cadets spin so much flag it's intimidating...
  10. As a current music major, I have to say that drum corps did not teach me very much about musicality and skill from a strictly musical standpoint. Work ethic and life skills aside, I would have to say that the best thing I've ever taken from drum corps that directly impacted my playing as a trumpet player would be how to use my air and breathing most effectively.
  11. This is a flaw in the judging system...the "what" or the "rep" sub caption dictates what you are doing and the effectiveness of it. In a perfect world, shouldn't those scores be definite? The Carolina Crown's brass book is harder than the Blue Devils brass book and so their rep score should be higher, bu the blue devils are performing their easier book cleaner - hypothetically...Even moreso, why should the "what" points get any higher if a corps didn't add any "what" to their show. Its subjective and flawed, but so is the artistic activity we love so much.
  12. If you had to choose, which Cadets show in the past few years has been your favorite and why?
