  1. No. In fact they didn't play better than other corps either. This was a mess of a championship. But there is a brighter side. The real champion gave the show of shows. The price of admission was worth seeing Hawthorne live one last time. As far as what the judges saw.. my guess is they had a plan before MBI and Cabs ever went on. Talk About. A flawed system. And yes. Despite the penalty.. Cabs still should have won.
  2. This by far is the worst thing that DCA could have let happen. It's a travesty and an embarrassment to the entire drum corps community.
  3. I should have prefaced what I meant. Cabs I am more than certain will be coming into this show 12 cylinders a blazing. As I am certain so is Bucs. So I don't think they will be timid coming to Bucs home turf. Bucs have home crowd advantage but in my opinion I don't think that will matter this season. It will be either corps' momentum on the field that will make the difference and Cabs certainly do have the momentum. I did catch the Fan Network of Scranton and I have to say Bucs have come a long way since GP. But I'm in awe of Cabs. They have added a lot more since I saw them last and they are just on fire. This is by far the most exciting season for DCA in years. It is great to see all the corps stepping it up. It gets somewhat boring to see one or two corps doing well for so long. Much kudos to everyone top to bottom.
  4. I don't necessarily believe this is so. Until this year.. when was the last time anyone beat Bucs in a regular season show home or away?
  5. I had remembered a Caballero out there.. Had to search. GMC had an El Camino called the Caballero back in the 80s. Ironic. I had a neighbor with a similar car with the carpeted dashboard and zebra skin seats with a mural of a Mexican gun fighter on the tailgate.
  6. How does it make you feel that the corps who are doing that are winning by using it?
  7. Probably the simplest and most reasonable answer. Cabs are certainly doing this right now.
  8. So in your estimation, within the next four weeks Cabs will see no progress and Bucs will just simply pass them by? This is your realistic prediction? Not that it matters or anyone cares, but your idea of a more developed show concept is somewhat suspect and would be interesting to see where you have come to that conclusion.
  9. This is true. MBI is still the dark horse. What seems questionable to me though Carolina Gold is within a point of MBI. I know separate shows.. different judges. But their performances are only 8 days apart. The value of the scores don't seem equal. A performance earnimg 75 in Minnesota should be at least equal to a 75 in Virgina or where ever the other show was. It's curious to say the least. I'm certain that MBI is closer go to Cabs and Bucs.
  10. Had you been at the show and the previous ones and not try to impose an unrealistic comparison between Bucs and Cabs, you'd understand the numbers that were given? Bucs while they did show improvement. They still have the same ensemble problems they did in Wayne. In fact they had others that were not seen in Wayne. Cabs had some issues in their opener that they never had before. Uncharacteristic of previous performances. However it is so minute it's highly unlikely a sign of any weakness or program flaw. There were vast improvements in Cabs percussion clearly evident from last week. And the guard was in my opinion leaps better. Other than the issue in the opener, the brass still was brilliant. Not sure what you equate to a "harder" visual package. There is such a thing as writing over the abilities of the performer. Just because you can write a lot of fast drill doesn't mean it's effective or smart. Ironically it was Cabs Achilles heel for the passed several years. The slight edge Bucs had over Cabs in brass was nothing of concern and I'm confident they won't have that problem again. Cabs haf a hiccup and nothing more. However bucs have a lot on their plate that needs to be fixed. If they can overcome those obstacles than I'd consider them a true threat.
  11. The same judges who have had Bucs winning visual over the passed several years are seeing a different show than you since Cabs have won visual all season.
  12. The answer is yes! I think in the Wildwood and Bridgeport thread. The Lyons share was on Facebook and Twitter Though. I think it was more internal hype.
  13. Had hoped for an actual answer. I guess I'll just have to keep hoping! I didn't actually think I'd get a real one though. But I hoped.
  14. As I said in a previous prediction thread, these are pointless unless you were present to see these corps in person last week. But for the sheer entertainment value..I'm curious what you based your prediction on?
  15. There have been shows here for the passed few years. I was there in 2012 and they didn't do anything to bring the field forward. That being said its a low venue. It didn't effect anything in the volume department. Just not the greatest to get a good vantage point on drill. It was also a Sunday performance then. I'm glad its in the evening this time.
  16. The one with the highest score will win.. BUT not without debate by someone on here who doesn't like the Cabs.
  17. If they were in Wayne, with the judge on the panel. They would have gotten an 18.1 Even thought they won percussion last year, Bucs still get the benefit of the doubt.
  18. They very well may win percussion. And probably with a high 18 or better at finals. Which is the debate for the majority of people discussing why anyone would get an 18.2 in Mid-July for a less than stellar performance, even if they may have been the more proficient section of the evening. Though in this viewers perspective, not so much. However, VOR can't wrap his noggin around the concept.
  19. I have to admit. Reading some of your previous comments does make for interesting reading. But I guess for people who know you on here already anticipated your last comment.
  20. I think with the low number of corps in DCA, I'm pretty sure this guy knows the people who will be slamming him at the critique. ;)
