  1. I wrote up a little mini review: I'll start with some personal criticism's, which there's not a lot of. - Seems disjointed section to section, which is a typical early season problem. - Field looks VERY cluttered right now, the sheer amount of equipment is pretty overwhelming. Not sure if that is something they can fix. - The "Shadow Behind the Iron Sun", aka the car muffler section, was cool, and then it kept going, and going, and going. It honestly lost a little bit of momentum for me. - There were two things that kinda bugged me. The lofting of the Frisbee, which just looked like they were chucking them, not really floating like a Frisbee should. And the trampolines, hope they have more planned there because they did not add too much to me. They just kinda jumped on them for a minute and got off. What they said before the show has me hopeful that more will be added. The Positives: - Obviously the brass, I mean come on. I don't even need to say anything. - Drill design seems more interesting than last year, the closer was really cool in this regard. - Color Guard seems very strong, personally love the choice of uniform and flags. - Percussion, again seem better. Front ensemble sounds REALLY strong to me, drums are getting there. Sound better than when I saw Crown rehearse live last year. - LOVED the "Space Oddity" intro, thought it really set up the mood for the show. - Opener very strong, ballad gorgeous...and: - HOLY COW that closer! I loved it, really got that coming home feeling, and they brought it in. Having listened to the source music, there are that many notes in it. They're not just playing notes for notes sake here, it's all in the originals. If they can keep improving the percussion, work out the transitions and weave the show together more, and make the field appear less cluttered, I'll be 100% all over it and it'll probably be my favorite Crown show. Personally enjoy this one a lot more than when I saw them rehearse live last year, which I enjoyed quite a bit. Looking like another strong season for Crown, I say top 3 for sure. Will it be enough to hold off The Cadets and Blue Devils, and maybe another corps or two? We'll see. But I personally really enjoyed that. Happy 25th Crown! Love you guys!
  2. I'm at a LOSS for words after that closer, I'll get back to the rest of that show later, but THAT CLOSER! WOW!
  3. Well those pants were not the color I was expecting. Interesting, as with last year, will reserve judgement until I see them in action with the guard, props, ect.
  4. This front ensemble is seriously sounding great, they've always had one of my favorites.
  5. Thank you. lol To be fair, I was one of those 2 years ago. But, I'm multitasking on two screens and can't do full screen, and I don't wanna have all those popping up constantly. Maybe I'm just OCD like that.
  6. It all depends on the competitive field, they could place 7th and still be drastically better than last year. They're certainly doing everything in their power to move up. It all comes down to what the other corps are doing.
  7. Oh joy, we get to watch all the high school kiddos comment on it live!
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSWTAuGZkfk
  9. They sure are fast at taking down stuff......looked like a great camera angle too.
  10. That one was for donors, so I guess it wasn't for EVERYONE, I made a little $10 contribution to them. Still though, nice to have the chance.
  11. If it is like previous ones, the link should stay up for a few days and you'll be able to rewind it. Don't take me word for that though, I don't know if it's going to be different this year, that's just how it's been in the past.
  12. I have to say, getting to watch The Cadets, Cavaliers, AND Crown in some webcasts has been great this year, love that they're willing to offer some stuff before the first shows. Very excited for tonight!
  13. Definitely ready to see what they've been up to, there's some interesting stuff in those Drone videos they've been releasing.
  14. Of course it's uploaded right after I go to bed, and gone when I wake up, I saw the link when I searched for it, got all excited like a little school girl, and it was taken down. How's the closer? That's probably the part I am most excited about.
  15. They had a live feed for donors, I thought it was worth 10$ to watch them rehearse a couple hours and see a run.
  16. Between 11 and 15, so they're on the smaller end. Not tiny though.
  17. I thought they were at first too, not too small. 4 Marimba's, 4 Vibes, Xylo, Timpani, Synth. No huge rack/percussion set up is what I think makes it look pretty compact.
  18. Well I am hugely impressed so far, definetely excited to see what they do. The "Danse Macabre" and "When I am Laid in Earth" are going to be FANTASTIC!
  19. Also, I'm loving the amount of equipment work in the guard, sure dancing is great......but I love some huge visual impact from a great set of flags and a big line of rifles.
  20. They look great from up top, very clean and make the forms clear. Could really care less what they look like up front, they look great where they need too. They're blowing away my expectations so far.......keep it up guys. This could be my favorite Cavaliers show, in quite awhile.
