  1. Its not negativity ...its fact.. I know some alumni of the original crown guard as well as alumni of Corona and within the groups its well known that a lot of the tricks are re-used every year...Granted they are hard.. but when it is less impressive when its the same people doing them over and over ... and just because you win a silver medal, doesnt mean they deserved it.. Personally NEI should have had that medal. We all know how there are a lot of disagreements when it comes to who should have medaled
  2. oh great.. more of the same recycled dirty work over and over.. just watch and old crown Guard show to your favorite song.. and it could be any corona show
  3. I know there is a lot of politics involved in WGI.. and having someone come overseas.. who happen to make it with a show that in my opinion wasn't anything more then Corona's same recycled work with some tables and chairs.. Also someone going from like 20th into Finals.. ugh.. Ars Nova and Premonition should have made it.. I would have preferred their show over Mayflower, Opus 10 or Diamante. just my opinion.. I was very happy though to see that Alter Ego was finally recognized for their great show.. having been beat by SH all year, when I believe they definitely should have been scoring higher. Some issues with scoring also were noticed in IO. like guards that were third in their round, not even making finals, yet guards with more drops but came from say.. Europe made it. lol
  4. Maybe I do??.. lol I just wanted to get others opinions of what I was aware of, thus the question mark.. but I am fairly new at this whole DCP forum stuff, so I can see how things can be taken negatively..
  5. true.. in Drum corps most work is easier when moving and written with weather in mind, etc.. The guard choreographers definitely change it up a bit
  6. Exactly! Being on the west coast I have a lot of friends who marched BD's guard and a lot of my favorite winterguard shows come from people on their staff. It was just one of my favorite guard shows so I was able to point out similarities. After watching all the shows, my favorite is Cavaliers.. although not very original either.. I do like that red flag with the screaming guy on it! lol
  7. you cant change the style of work that a choreographer is known for.. maybe you are referring to the Design and the involvement of corps doing movement and spinning? and jazz running!? I dunno! I like the way guard looks on the field.. it has stayed pretty consistent
  8. I was actually referring to Karl Lowe. I dont follow a lot of corps, so not bashing, just pointing out something that I noticed. I could care less who wins. With such a talented design/guard staff I would expect more.. that is all. Maybe people are just running out of ideas and choreography!?? It happening on the winterguard side too. But this is relevant now... so I made thats why I pointed it out.. ***NOT BD bashing.. Im a winterguard fan and the guard is a let down.. Nothing is truly original, but at least I know where they drew some of their "inspiration" from
  9. possibly.. I'm just a big fan of that 2000 Winterguard show.. so having watched it many times, the comparisons were more obvious for me
  10. well think about who wrote that Fantasia show.. and who is involved in Guard design at BD... Same person! The theme is the same.. the costume colors.. evern how they "fit" the flags have 3 panels just like the winterguard show.. Just too much influence taken from another show. That winterguard show is my favorite, therefore.. I think BD's show is great. Maybe the guard is just too similar for me.. Maybe its a guard thing. lol
  11. So as a fan of winterguard, I dont know if I am the only one who noticed that BD's show (especially/mainly) the guard is very similar to Fantasia's 2000 show "City of Glass" Granted they use the same song, but the whole attitude, work, dance work, drill, uniforms etc.. is too similar for my taste. Anyone else notice this? The link to the fantasia show is below so you can feel free to compare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPQlSZHNypA I felt the same way when BD did the whole.."dance marathon show". I dont know the name. But it was basically the same as James Logan's 1999 show. There is a lot of talent and amazing staff, just not impressed with the lack of originality and recycling of shows (mostly w/ the same staff connected to the originals)
  12. I cant believe no one has mentioned Fantasia 2000.. City of Glass.. By FAR the BEST Fantasia show. POC 01' Channel 1 Suite Patriots 1998, 1999
  13. LOL. this is the 2nd time in the last 2 seasons I saw someone from Braddock do the 2008 routine on So You Think You Can Dance!
  14. That makes sense. But I think they will still need 2 guards. They will have more that 40 people show up for auditions. Did the "No rules" for world guards pass??? What rules get changed?! Can they use pyro now LOL
  15. Maybe its WGI's way of getting rid of so many small World guards??? Hoping some will combine!? I dunno, i doubt it.. I am just trying to think outside the box. I do think that the promotion issue needed to be reviewed. I think the top 3 should be bumped up into the next class.. Not top 5. Then you end up with 15 guards in IW who for 3 years cant make World finals. lol These rules are definitely catering to the big guards. But whats the point when the guards dont even come out b/c of money issues!?? Maybe with 40 member you can get more $$ and dont have to take a season off?? who knows!
  16. I think it could work with a big production like Pride. They had a lot more room for more people. Same as SCV. 40 people would look great at the UD Arena. But in Gyms it will be very difficult. If you watch shows on OnDemand, they can barely get all world floors on the video. There are also people doing the flag statement off the floor (which I hate) I dont think that all guards will adopt this. Most would prob just stick with a World guard and an Open or A guard. But Pride, NEI, SAC and Onyx could prob pull off more than 30
  17. So World guards can now have 40 members!???? That is means guards are gonna need huge floors, bc people are constantly performing off the floor with only 30 members! It may be tuff to fit 40 members on a floor in small gyms, but with a show like Pride's or SCV it would work well
  18. It wont be up until next year! They want you to still buy that DVD. Like last year they didnt have 07 up either!
  19. Regardless of whatever the issue was.. I loved the show, it would have won if it wasnt for the unfortunate event.. cant wait to see them next year!
  20. Ya they got a 2.4 penalty! I bet he is kicking himself now for his mistake..
  21. THEY should have scored higher.. Im mad!!! They should have made finals without question
  22. Fantasia this Sat if anyone is interested
  23. I wish NEI would medal b/c they are consistent have great design and they can spin clean and very well. Logan is doing a great show!!! SCV isnt very original concept wise, I think Beyer did it in 2000??? The one with the race track looking thing!
  24. i totally forgot about Mayflower. ya they will make finals so someone is being bumped out. I love Crowns show this year lol. Def/ think it should place better than Braddock.. 6th place the lowest, lol. But I am worried for Fantasia b/c their show isnt getting good scores. and From this Saturday it doesnt look like they have made many changes. I love First FLights flag statement. and the flags they use. My fav by far. I agree I love Trumball and Arcadia. But I think Logan could win it Gold again. This is the first year since 2005 that I think they have a deserving 1st place show. But there are a lot of boring SW shows this season! OH and I hope Ars Nova makes it in to finals. I love their movement this year!
  25. Um Im the person who is asking a question and trying to get others opinions.. LOL
