For the last few years, the corps that has won the Title gets a closeup shot from their show on the DVD cover. I just find it strange that this years kinda looks like Phantom from a distance.... Anyone have any inside info?

I have the FN membership package with the DVD and noticed that we could watch the VODs from Finals. Since Santa Clara was one of my favorite shows from this year, I decided to watch them first...and I noticed something odd. Either I'm really bad at spotting green feathers, or Santa Clara wasn't wearing green plumes for their age outs in the video, which is, as far as I remember, a SCV tradition for age outs on Finals. This lead me to question whether the video was actually from Finals as it claimed and they abandoned the green feather tradition, or if it's from a different show and was falsely labeled as Finals. Could someone clarify? Edit: Also, could a MOD please fix my spelling error in the title? Cat was on the computer screen.

Every year I do a thread similar to this in which I list the top ten reasons why the current semi-finals leader won't win finals the next night. So, without further ado, here is the 2013 version. 10. The Cavaliers summon the Illuminati, who trick the judges into believing it's 2002, giving The Cavaliers title number 8. 09. The local police suspect that LOS is a real speakeasy after Spirit's show, so the event gets shut down. Blue Stars win their first title after no one else is able to compete. 08. The judges listen too closely to Crown's voice people while they are recording their scores. In their captions, Crown scores a 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. 07. Phantom lets loose a real dragon after their real Evil Queen gets kidnap and replaced by the Evil Queen in that one Disney movie. 06. George Hopkins. 05. The corps falls through a worm-hole and disappears before their performance, thus they cannot perform. 04. Albert Einstein is a surprise judge on the judging panel, and grades them down in every caption, saying ''That's not how it happened, etc" to everything they do. 03. The Blue Devils perform the Rite of Winter instead, making Winter come to LOS. No one wins because DCI doesn't compete during the winter. 02. "...we have a tie...." 01. ...well, I'll leave this to you, fellow DCPers. What is the number one reason Crown doesn't win tonight? This post is not made to be a bash fest, but rather a way to have some fun with this year's finals.

Out of curiosity, any particular reason for cutting the Holsinger?

I'm assuming Spirit and Crossmen's cuts were from copyright issues. As for Phantom, can anyone clarify that?

On the Volume I DVD: Blue Devils: No edits (The chant is back in on the DVD) Carolina Crown: The solo in the second movement is from Semi-Finals Phantom Regiment: No preshow, no other edits The Cadets: Edits have already been discussed Santa Clara Vanguard: No edits Bluecoats: No edits Boston Crusaders: No edits The Cavaliers: The laugh voice over/wave in the preshow has been cut. Madison Scouts: No edits Blue Knights: No edits Spirit of Atlanta: No preshow, the first few seconds of the closer (with the 8 Mile quote) has been cut Crossmen: No preshow, no other edits

Just got mine today. So far I've gotten through 7-12 on multi-cam. No complaints! Except for maybe the fact that the infamous "Best Brass Award" correction was edited out.

You can hear that quote just fine in the DVD edit. It's just the wave that's cut.

Watching The Cavaliers at the moment, noticing that the preshow is significantly shorter, completely cutting out where everyone does that wave thingy. Any speculation on why that got cut?

Let's face it, everyone on here has either used or heard or at least seen a pick-up line. What kind of pick-up lines would drum corps fans use to others? "When I saw you, you were the Beat My Heart Skipped." "How is it that I know all the dots to my show, but I don't know the 10 digits of your phone number?" "You and I together would be For the Common Good." "Crown may have won Best Brass, but you would win Best Visual every year."

I was flipping through a few DVDs and decided to watch a few shows from hi-cam as opposed to my usual multi-cam. Does anyone have any favorite shows to watch from hi-cam or any shows where you prefer the hi-cam to the multi-cam? A few of my favorites: 2000 The Cavaliers 2006 Bluecoats 2010 The Cavaliers

I've had this request ever since 2006: The Cavaliers - "Deus Ex Machina," a show using all original music and reestablishing themselves as the Green Machine. It would be like "MACHINE" had a baby, gave it some high tech toys (Because electronics weren't allowed until three years after), and made a creation of not only a machine, but a god of machines. For a few others: Santa Clara Vanguard: "Love Never Dies," the story of what happens after "The Phantom of the Opera," using music of Webber's musical entitled "Love Never Dies." The Cadets: "Child's Play," the music of David Holsinger's three dances for his children (Nilesdance, Havendance, and I always forget the third one.) Bluecoats: "Imaginaerum," the music of Nightwish. I think it would be incredible to see that kind of music of the field. And this corps seems like it has the type of sound to do the job.

Are the videos we see for the VODs are the same as the videos for the DVDs? This is my first time doing the FN+DVD thing.

They placed 4th in 2008. 2009, they switched uniforms and placed 2nd. 2010 was the year after a uniform change. 4th. 2011 was the year before a uniform change. 4th, like 2008. 2012 was the year of a uniform change. 2nd. 2013, can we predict 4th?
