  1. I havent heard this officially but I have heard it unofficially from people who should know. All numbers are independent. There is no "outperforming your book" anymore.
  2. Crown so far: No GE Boring drill Unclear show concepts Poorly conceived props FIRST PLACE Did I miss anything? WOW CrownGuard! WOW CrownPercussion! WOW CrownBrass! What a season this is going to be!
  3. This season is ripe for the picking. Some shows are just begging for it.
  4. BTW there's a thread for that (just to keep the Crown thread on topic. We could resurrect it!
  5. Oh come on. You can do much better that. This is probably as quiet a show as Crown has put on the field. Others have already roasted your prop comment. Although ... the wedges are NOT the round table. Rather they are the knights of the round table. When the table breaks, the fellowship is broken. You can see them leave Camelot and then (when the wedges turn) engage in battles far and wide.
  6. I don't believe they're going to add drill there. In fact (except for the "real" ending, I don't expect more drill at all). They are definitely going for "we've shown you this, now we're going to show you that" which is a pretty radical change for Crown (who had continued to embrace "drill for drill's sake" despite the judging community's obvious willingness to credit other forms of movement equally). Basically if you can evidence training in what you're doing, visual judges will credit it (despite many of them having little to no background in those other efforts). So once you "prove" you can do traditional marching / drill, there's little benefit in doing more of the same unless (a) you show some additional ability and training in the segment or (b) purely for effect. The rest of the elements on the visual sheets still come in to play (if they apply). Anywho that's a hard zig for Crown's visual program. Ironically including dance as part of your movement package in the full ensemble (not just guard) was a core idea for Crown that everyone else eventually adopted (thank you Jim Moore who brought what he was doing at Blast! to Crown). Before that it was "body" which much more limited in it's scope; Jim Moore was choreographing dance not just "body". DCP mocked all that choreography for quite some time. Weird how things evolve.
  7. I'm no drummer but....dam################!
  8. yeah the youtube vid is a better link but they were a little slow getting it posted. All good.

  11. My latin is atrocious but google helps me along!
  12. You're using the common tongue to address a man of the cloth. As a graduate of 12 years of Catholic education, I was glad to send a message to Fr. Tim that would be easier for him to read and understand 🙂
  13. Pater Timotheus Epistulam hanc ad filum iniuriae missae habere potes. Sincere vestrum, Karuna

  15. The story part I'll agree with. Certainly it's given Rick Subel the anchor he needed to get some visual clarity in the design. But old-Crown would have been FAR more literal. This show is lot more referential and interpretive than literal. Kudos to the entire visual design team for knocking it out of the park. Effects, continuity, staging -- it's all really working together in a very effective manner.
  16. I don't think we have to wait! The future is now. I know everyone is saying "Crown is going back to their previous style of show" but this program is nothing like Crown productions in the past. It's an entirely new thing for them. Yes the excellence is still there. But the rest of it -- yeah very different vibe. They are definitely playing the game with a different playbook than in years past -- both musically and visually. I, too, am excited to see what this collaboration brings in the future. But I'm pretty stoked about the present as well. Also a gigantic shout-out to Tyler Edrington. Crown finally found the right person to bring CrownGuard back to the level we were all accustomed to seeing. 💖
  17. couldnt find a tour calendar on the cadets site 😕 cadets are now off until CrownBeat? crazy man. are they doing clinics?
  18. Up Next: Summer Music Games in Cincinnati with Crown, Bloo, and Boston all at this show!
  19. I'll take Nola Jones for the win in that case. She is not so easy to impress so when she pops you a number you best believe you did something right!
  20. biggest story is that judges are buying what crown is selling (at least at this point the season). numbers mean far less than feedback on tapes / critiques. trained eyes with fresh looks may see challenges/opportunities that the staff (after living with this show forever) don't see. this is a pretty different sort of show for Crown. don't be surprised when a lot people don't buy into it. despite claims to the contrary people HATE change and will complain when their expectations aren't met. number-wise it is really nice to see those perc scores vs. cavies (who consistently put out good lines).
  21. Agree . Easy to read that all these performer have had excellent training and showing it in every aspect. That's a sure way to do well.
  22. I also like that they are making a very simple concept work very well.
