Guard got 1st in content last night and tonight so perhaps they do have a difficult book?
But I agree, I love the lyricism in BDCG’s style. It’s not just being difficult for difficulty’s sake. BDCG dances very well. It’s clear that many of them have classical dance training.
Content ≠ Difficulty. It's literally just the "what". The DCI Guard sheet is a combo of effect, ensemble, equipment and movement. Maxing out on tricks and tosses does not mean you win the caption. BD's staff know this very well.

This show has got legs. Don't be surprised to see Crown chasing BD at the end. (note i did not say catching because that would require some divine intervention at this point. Or perhaps a bigger budget for the treasurer ). There's a LOT of cleaning left to be done. Now it's in the members' hands. Can they do the work in the next two weeks?
Yes. Yes they can! 👑

Show is 🔥 ! It does not let up from start to finish. Congrats to your son! What a fun season for him.

Loved the show. Might be the best BD show in quite some time. What struck me the most is how detailed every moment has become. There's not a second in the show where they're not building to the next effect. While the guard book is not the most difficult of the top 4, it is written exquisitely well to maximize GE (for example when entire guard is on rifle -- that's mostly A class work. But it all looks great. Will always love 👑 but this year I'm seeing a on the side

Since this thread is destined for the trash heap, I'll just remark on the other two threads I can't use.
I got to bed after the show and miss out on not one but TWO epically silly threads....hah. Nothing like a close season to bring people out.Yeah some DCPrs showing their true colors!

Clear skies? NightBeat and no threat of rain? Wow! Seems like almost every year we’ve gone there it rained or threatened to rain. Still recall 2016 when severe rain hit right before Crown was going to perform - they never did that year. Too bad because the home crowd was ready to go nuts for them.
Rained yesterday — a lot. Turned my 1.5 hr DCA->GSO flight into a 6hr flight! (Mostly in the terminal but still).

Then Allentown should step up & if they want the revenue, then fix the venue.
That’s the thing. While Allentown (the city) rakes in a lot of $$ from tourism , the school district doesn’t really make a lot (so lots more left for DCI.) The stadium is cheap to rent compared to many other venues.
And. It’s a huge tradition no one is ready to let die.

Hmm. Just hitting the ATL airport. I’m guessing we can watch from our seats since gates are at 15:30?
Looks that way! Honestly I want to *hear* more than anything.

DCI has deeper pockets than BOA. If BOA can make it work, then DCI should be able to.
The BOA event had 18 bands. Understanding 18 bands on the east coast (smaller than the average WC corps) is different than 18 bands in a metro area of TX (larger than average DCI corps), but there are ways to make compromises, such as at Lucas OIl for BOA, where you unload, perform, then move your trucks/busses to another lot. Surely a campus as large as Rutgers has unused lots during a Saturday in summer where there are no classes happening that a compromise like this could work.
Rutgers has hosted DCI shows. Stadium A. Everything else F. There are better options. But East isn’t going anywhere. JB Crumbling down is here to stay.

All I know is if you add Tom Aungst to an already good percussion staff...
Actually IMHO Aungst's biggest add is having him run ensemble. It's...impressive.

Didn't say there's not difficult stuff in the book. I did say they manage to generate fantastic effect even when it's NOT super difficult. You're looking for something you're not gonna find here.
