  1. Not going to lie, I got a little bit choked up on this one! Malik Davis's video really captured the essence of just how many emotions are running through these kids right now. "I love this family, to the end." Six words.
  2. Looks like the front is passing through right now. Should be clear tonight!
  3. Bloo has changed the ballad and added a TON of drill to Zombie and closer. Lots of sparkle added to numerous hits throughout show. Visual and GE scores should climb!
  4. 1. I absolutely LOVE what they did with the ballad. 2. The closer drill is insane. If their visual scores don't go up, somethings wrong. 3. Lots of cherries on top throughout show added. 4. Love the new finish for the guard. They did all of this in 3 days, crazy.
  5. New changes in Zombie / Closer are pretty sweet. Can't wait for everyone to see them.
  6. 3 days of rehearsal, should be interesting to see the changes for Bloo
  7. This Boston show has to be in the running for show of the year. Going to keep it light tonight, not going into any discussions about GE.
  8. Somewhere, there is someone with headphones on listening to thus horribly mixed audio, and nodding their head in approval...
  9. And all I hear is the pit. Can't they just adjust it? 5th graders
  10. It sounds like they have a compressor on the sound with a reeeeallly long release time. This is a joke, right?
  11. Yeah crowd favorite is a no brainer. Believe me, that's all most of the kids care about. I think it's a very close call between Bloo and Crown this year. Shocking, right?
  12. Interesting tidbit: they did a full runthrough of their show today, except for the ballad.
  13. Sorry for the double post, I should have just posted this here, so I'm doing it now. This is how I feel right now: A new style / approach / gimmick, whatever you want to call it, is good for a championship. The hard part is the next X years, where the conservative nature of this community will naturally try to reign them back in. Bloo has two main choices. It can 1) not give a #### about scores, and focus on producing the very best Blast! style show on a football field, or 2) revert back and design more for the sheets. I'm guessing it will be a mixture of both, but mostly #1. Bloo culture has never placed a huge importance on scoring. They are more concerned about making sure each member and the group as a whole is being the best version of themselves they can be. Everything comes after that. As far as judging, I don't think judges are necessarily saying "Blast! is not DCI". I think what you are seeing (and going to see in the next decade) is a judging shift towards this new style, as long as the crowds keep reacting this way. It won't be a linear path. Both sides will tug and pull along the way, which means some years it's en vogue, and some years it's not. I'm reminded of a famous quote that I feel is somewhat relevant: "A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it."

  15. If only so my wife continues to want to watch DCI with me!
  16. Whatever happens, I hope Bloo continues it's Blast! style shows. What an amazing product!
