  1. My favorite part is coming up - the percussion feature on the ramp.
  2. I Would say the river city props added nothing to the show and were very ugly.
  3. How many of these performances could have made World Class finals ten years ago? Five years ago?
  4. The worst part is there may never be a recording of that available for future viewing/listening. My goodness!
  5. I was impressed upon my first viewinf of Southwind this year. I was even more impressed by how their members were hyping Vanguard Cadets performance from the stands. They were just all about enjoying the experience of being fans for a minute. It was great to see.
  6. Youngest Colt Cadet this year is 10, I believe. In color guard.
  7. In all seriousness, buy them. Sat in the front row for Prelims last year directly in front of many of the speaker arrays. Life was fine through the Open Class corps. Started to get worse as the day went on. We purchased a pair of Earasers for my teen son at lunch time and he was fine the rest of the day. I regretted not buying myself any by the time the Top 12 started performing. It was uncomfortable most of the time and painful frequently. My ears were still ringing the next morning. I made a bad decision.
  8. Boston's vocalist is holding the Elder Wand. posted from the DrumScorps app
  9. Great show tonight. I wish more people were there, but that's what you get in the middle of nowhere USA. BDB had a "nice" show. But, much like their A corps, Vanguard Cadets were a site to behold. Their show just...doesn't...stop. Many exposed brass impacts and some tasty articulation. Props used effectively and added splashes of color at appropriate times. Gold's growing theme was easy to follow. Not a fan of the Carthart uniforms and baseball caps. But some big brass hits. Was excited to see Guardians after falling in love with them last year. Can can appreciate many of the things they are trying to do, but the show felt a little flat to me. Sound effects and pre-recorded vocals were not balanced in such a small venue. It was almost painfully loud. The kids sell the show and are clearly having fun with it. Les Stentors ask a lot of their members. They have a fully miked small ensemble ala Vanguard. But theirs is actually the entire brassline! All six of them. The battery plays brass instruments for a couple of numbers. Lots of talent here. A cool guard effect with one girl wrapped in many long ribbons. Their feature singer did a fantastic job. Welcome back Southwind! Big sound to open the show! Some great arrangements of familiar pieces, executed very well. I particularly enjoyed their version of Radionhead's Creep. Colt Cadets are my son's corps (rightmost marimba). Their show this year is much more mature than last year. As so many corps have, they've made tremendous progress this year and are eager for a chance to return to Open Class finals in one week. The battery and horn line especially have done a lot of cleaning lately. I think it shows in the confidence of their performance. What a fun show tonight. Perfect weather. If only the season wasn't almost over! posted from the DrumScorps app
  10. They aren't?? Then why the severed mellophone player heads on them later..?
  11. How big of an impact to GE scores do giant streamers pulled out st the end of a show provide? It must be above zero since it is so common. Serious question.
  12. They missed a chance to play Sia's "Breathe Me" here.
